Recently, it was reported that veteran WWE NXT star Wes Lee was released by WWE.
According to Sean Ross Sapp in the latest Fightful Select Answers, Lee’s release was not due to any disciplinary reasons, and he did nothing wrong. Sapp also mentioned that Lee’s departure was viewed internally as the most surprising among the recent wave of roster cuts. However, he expects Lee to thrive outside of WWE. As of now, there is no information about Lee’s next steps, but updates will be provided when available.
Lee signed with WWE in late 2020 and made his debut in early 2021 alongside his former tag team partner, Nash Carter (also known as Zachary Wentz), as the tag team known as MSK. During their time together in NXT, they won the NXT Tag Team Championships twice.
In addition, Lee went on to capture the NXT North American Championship, marking his first singles title in WWE. He held the title for nearly a year, losing it 269 days later to Dominik Mysterio during a July 2023 episode of NXT TV.
