In two big updates for WrestleMania 36, more details have surfaced regarding WWE using John Cena’s return to help push Elias on “The Grandest Stage of Them All” in Tampa, Florida this April, and The Undertaker’s opponent for this year appears to be locked in.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter at F4WOnline.com reports that WWE has finalized two “legends” matches for WrestleMania 36. They are AJ Styles taking on the Undertaker and Elias battling John Cena.
The speculation in this report suggests that Styles is an ideal opponent for Taker because a loss wouldn’t necessarily “hurt” him while at the same time, he is one of the top candidates to have a good singles match with the 54-year old Undertaker.
Meanwhile Cena vs. Elias makes little sense due to the fact that WWE just turned the latter face.
The suggestion was that perhaps this match will break down into a situation where Cena and Elias get attacked by heels and end up teaming up to overcome the beating.
They could also then just end up “singing” together or some other situation where Cena “endorses” Elias.
