Update On WWE’s Plans For Roman Reigns’ Opponent At WrestleMania 37, The Rock Not Returning Until 2022?

Contrary to a recent report that indicated that WWE was discussing Roman Reigns vs. Goldberg for next year’s WrestleMania, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that as of last week, there was actually no opponent lined up for Reigns yet which many consider “mind-boggling” as WWE almost always has their top WrestleMania matches planned out well in advance.

Previous rumors that Reigns would take on Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson appear extremely unlikely for this year but The Rock has suggested that he’d be willing to consider such a match in 2022.

For this year though, Drew McIntyre and Daniel Bryan are said to be the two names on the creative side as per the Observer with Goldberg a distant third.

However, that could have changed as recently as this month with Goldberg appearing on WWE Bump and pretty much planting the seeds for a program with Reigns.

If that happens, this report suggests Bryan vs. Reigns at Rumble followed by the Goldberg “dream” match at WrestleMania that was supposed to happen last year.

We will keep you posted here at as updates continue to surface regarding WWE’s plans for WrestleMania 37.
