Only three first round matches are remaining in this year’s NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag-Team Classic Tournament following this week’s episodes of WWE NXT and WWE 205 Live.
As seen on the weekly WWE black-and-gold brand program on Wednesday night, three teams advanced with victories in first round matches. Adam Cole & Roderick Strong advanced to the second round with a win over Breezango, MSK defeated Isiah “Swerve” Scott & Jake Atlas to move to the next round and The Grizzled Young Veterans moved on with a “W” over Ever-Rise.
On WWE 205 Live on Friday night, Legado Del Fantasma defeated The Bollywood Boyz and the team of Killian Dain & Drake Maverick got past Curt Stallion & August Grey to advance to the next round of the tournament.
As noted on the broadcast on WWE 205 Live on Friday evening, it was announced that next week’s edition of the weekly purple brand program will feature action from the 2021 NXT Dusty Rhodes Women’s Tag-Team Classic Tournament.
As we previously reported, advertised for next week’s WWE NXT is Gran Metalik & Lince Dorado vs. Imperium and the team of Kushida & Leon Ruff vs. Johnny Gargano & Austin Theory in first round action in the ongoing men’s Dusty Classic tourney.
Also on tap in first round action from the men’s Dusty Classic tourney next week will be the team of Tony Nese & Ariya Daivari against the duo of Ashante “Thee” Adonis & Desmond Troy.
