Following a few weeks of speculation and confusion, NXT confirmed on Wednesday night’s show that Velveteen Dream is officially the new NXT North American Champion.
Back on the January 30th NXT taping, Dream pinned Johnny Gargano to win the NXT North American Championship, however Gargano attacked Dream after the match and forced him to tap out to the Gargano Escape submission hold, leading to confusion regarding who the champion was.
The match aired on Wednesday night’s NXT TV show on the WWE Network as the main event of the broadcast, showing Dream’s title victory but not the post-match angle.
After the show wrapped up this week, WWE released an exclusive backstage interview and highlights from Velveteen Dream’s first photo shoot with the NXT North American Championship. Check out those videos below.
