NXT United Kingdom Champion WALTER recently spoke with the folks from Give Me Sport to promote the upcoming return of new episodes of NXT UK on the WWE Network starting on September 17th.
During the discussion, the leader of Imperium spoke about the pressure of being the top dog for the brand upon their return from lengthy hiatus due to the global pandemic, his desire for a one-on-one showdown against the current WWE Champion Drew McIntyre and more.
Featured below are some of the highlights of the new WALTER interview.
On handling the pressure of being the top guy when NXT UK returns with new content starting on September 17: “I’ve just got to keep on going like I usually do. The only thing I can do, is do everything to the best of my ability. If I let things get into my head I lose focus.”
On his run as NXT United Kingdom Champion lasting for 517 days so far: “500 days is a long run with a title, but to be fair, we’ve had half a year break [due to COVID-19]. We’ve got to put it into perspective but going forward, these new tapings will give us a chance to step up.”
On a potential move to the main roster via RAW or SmackDown and wanting to face off against Drew McIntyre: “I’m not focused on if I want to go to RAW or SmackDown, I’m not that sort of guy. But I have a lot of respect for Drew. He represents European wrestling as a whole very well in the United States. I really like his style of wrestling, he’s a big and tall guy, very intense. I’m hoping for a singles match with him one day.”
