As noted, The Butcher & The Blade recently appeared as guests on AEW Unrestricted, the official podcast of All Elite Wrestling.
During the show, The Blade spoke about not originally wanting to be paired with his wife, Allie (a.k.a. “The Bunny”) on television and in story lines just because they are married.
According to the performer, who along with The Butcher has recently joined The Lucha Bros in aligning with Eddie Kingston in AEW, he felt Allie would be forced to simply be his valet because of the wrestling tradition that couples work together as an on-air pairing.
As The Blade explained to Tony Schiavone and Aubrey Edwards during his appearance with The Butcher on AEW Unrestricted, he learned after they were first put together in the wrestling business that they just naturally clicked as performers.
“We knew each other for about four years, and then when we initially got together, I was like, ‘hey, I don’t want to be one of those couples who like, ‘oh, now because we’re dating, now you’re my valet for no reason at all,'” he recalled. “But then someone, I think it was actually Squared Circle, ended up booking us together, and it went so well.”
The Blade continued, “It was me, Laura (Allie), and referee Jimmy Korderas. They put us together as a single faction and it went so well. It was just like, ‘oh, we’d actually be kind of stupid if we didn’t go with this.”
