After this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite went off the air, hometown star Cody Rhodes cut a post-show promo in the ring inside the steel cage while drenched in blood, talking to the AEW Atlanta crowd about his incredible moonsault off the top of the cage during his main event match against Wardlow.
Following AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, February 19th, All Elite Wrestling released a special post-show video that features the aforementioned Cody Rhodes off-air promo.
“I didn’t know I wanted to be a wrestler, but I knew ‘I want to be famous, like he is,” Cody said on the mic after the show, referring to his legendary father, ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes.
“When I got into wrestling at 15, when I debuted in 2007, you guys were pretty hard on me,” he continued. “And I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you being hard on me. It made me come back week-after-week!”
He concluded, revealing that he was asked backstage prior to the show if he was planning on doing a leap off the steel cage.
