The name of the upcoming WarGames style match announced for the special episode of AEW Dynamite on March 25 was cleared up by All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan during his post-AEW Revolution media scrum on Saturday night.
Following the first AEW pay-per-view of 2020 at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois, the AEW President and CEO spoke with members of the media in attendance for a post-show scrum.
During the scrum, Khan cleared up the confusion regarding what the name of the match teased in the trailer released for the special 3/25 episode of AEW Dynamite will be. He was quick to point out that the match, which will feature two rings surrounded by and enclosed in one massive steel cage, will not be called “WarGames,” as WWE owns the trademark to that name.
“I have not used that term and will never use that term,” Khan told the media after the AEW Revolution PPV on Saturday night. “You’ll never see me using that expression.”
From there, the AEW boss-man said the name of the match will be the same as the name of the show itself — AEW Blood & Guts.
“The expression we’re using for this match is ‘Blood & Guts,'” Khan revealed. “It’s everything to us. It’s a heart and soul struggle, but it’s also a metaphor for our company in that it’s both a serious thing in that it’s wrestling-centric, but we’re also having fun with it.”
Khan concluded, “It’s a blood-and-guts match. It’s going to be awesome.”
