Wednesday Night Wars Ratings (9/16/2020): AEW def. NXT In First Head-To-Head Showdown In Weeks

The numbers have touched down for the first Wednesday Night Wars showdown in weeks between All Elite Wrestling and WWE NXT.

After weeks of not going head-to-head due to various preemption schedule changes, AEW Dynamite and NXT both returned to their regular Wednesday time slot and suffered a drop in viewership week-over-week.

Dynamite easily won the battle in both total audience and in the 18-49 demographic, generating an average viewership of 886,000 and a 0.34 rating.

NXT meanwhile was watched by 689,000 people with a 0.18 rating in that key demo.

The viewership drops were 18% for NXT and 13% for Dynamite from last week’s airing but compared to the last time these shows went head-to-head over a month ago, viewership was up about 10% for both.

There was no major sports competition with the NHL and NBA playoffs taking a night off so Dynamite soared to a top three ranking in the 18-49 ranking at #3, while NXT was trailing well behind at #31.
