What You Didn’t See On NXT 2.0: Johnny Gargano’s Extended Off-Air Farewell With Guests (Photos)

Johnny Gargano’s emotional goodbye was spoiled by Grayson Waller on Tuesday night’s edition of NXT 2.0.

During the post-WarGames edition of the weekly two-hour television program, it was advertised that the longtime NXT veteran would be addressing his future, with many assuming he was on his way out of the promotion.

After being hyped all evening long on the show, the segment finally took place in the main event spot, with Gargano even starting his promo off by mentioning that he was told by “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels that he could go over on time if he needed to.

From there he went on to reflect on his time working for the NXT brand, including some of his key moments and matches. He also listed a number of people, both behind-the-scenes and on-air talent, who helped him along the way.

As he was wrapping up, Grayson Waller came out of nowhere and attacked him from behind. This led to a savage beatdown of the fan-favorite, as he put Gargano’s head through a steel chair and slammed it down on the ground, and put him through the announce table at ringside.

Once the show went off-the-air, Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly were both given extra time to address the crowd for an extended farewell, which also included Tommaso Ciampa, Candice LeRae, Shawn Michaels and others briefly appearing as well.

Gargano shared some of the photos of the off-air farewell that included O’Reilly on his official Twitter feed, along with a caption that reads as follows:

“Even after last night.. I still can’t put EVERYTHING I’d like to say into words right now. Just know that I appreciate all of you more than I can ever really express. Hope I made ya proud.”
