WrestleMania 37 Location in Jeopardy; Tampa Likely to Get WrestleMania 38

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter writes that the expectation is that Tampa will be awarded WrestleMania in 2022 after this year’s event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This could certainly also have played a significant role in Florida deeming WWE’s business as “essential” and allowing them to continue running events in Orlando at the Performance Center.

It’s interesting to note though that WWE’s planned venue for WrestleMania 37 in SoFi Stadium has question marks surrounding it, due to both the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic causing construction delays of the new stadium as well as the fact that an internal email sent within the city of Los Angeles that speculated that restrictions on large scale events – like WrestleMania – could last for another year. If true, that would put WWE’s marquee event in jeopardy for a second consecutive year. There are obviously multiple logistical factors to consider, but Raymond James Stadium could very well be considered the “backup” plan in case LA/Inglewood falls through.
