WWE 205 LIVE RESULTS (11/27/2020)

This week's purple brand program kicks off with the usual video signature opening package. From there, we are welcomed live inside the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida, as we are greeted on commentary by the regular weekly duo of Vic Joseph and Nigel McGuinness.

August Grey vs. Ariya Daivari

After that, the theme music of August Grey plays and one of the two new recruits from the WWE Performance Center makes his way down to the squared circle for this week's opening contest on "The Most Exciting Hour of Television."

Joseph says, "Well, it's Thanksgiving and I want to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving, Nigel!" Nigel corrects him and says it's a "Happy Belated Thanksgiving," and after a couple more moments of quick back-and-forth banter, the first on camera appearance by the commentary duo wraps up as the theme of Ariya Daivari plays.

"The Persian Lion" makes his way down to the ring accompanied by "The Premier Athlete" Tony Nese, whom he stops and tells to go to the back to the surprise of McGuinness on commentary, noting Daivari must be overly confident this evening.

The bell sounds and it's time for our first of two matches to get underway. Both men lock up and McGuinness refers to Grey as a new wrestler with an old school feel. The crowd in the building make some noise, as do some on the ThunderDome screens behind them, as Grey starts to have some fun in the ring, which Nigel calls "disrespect."

Daivari isn't pleased with that, giving a big kick to Grey and taking him down to the mat for a near fall that Grey easily kicks out of. He gets back to his feet and now Grey starts to take over on offense, dropkicking Daivari down and going for a near fall of his own. Now a nice bulldog from Grey for another near fall, leading to Daivari rolling under the ropes but remaining on the apron for a breather.

Grey goes over to Daivari while he was still on the apron outside the ropes, so Daivari grabs his head and drops down to the floor, choking him throat-first over the top-rope. Grey flat-backs in the ring and from the floor, Daivari grabs Grey's leg and wraps it around the steel ring post. And again. And a third time. Back in the ring, Daivari gets Grey upside down in the Tree of Woe in the corner, blasting kicks to the knee of Grey he just softened up on the ring post moments ago.

Now August Grey turns the offensive momentum in his favor, as the action spills out to the floor. Grey slams Daivari back-first into the barricade. Ouch. We see some replays of that spot as the action returns to the ring. Daivari chop-blocks Grey from behind, on the knee he worked on earlier. Now he locks him in a figure-four leg lock in the center of the ring. The crowd tries to cheer Grey and give him some moral support, and it's working, as Grey starts to fire up, kicking Daivari off and shoving him with his boot through the ropes and out to the floor.

"The Persian Lion" heads back to the ring, however Grey is waiting for him and catches him coming in with a nice back suplex. We see some replays of that spot as Nigel and Vic bicker a bit on commentary. A nice neckbreaker from Grey results in Daivari rolling out to the floor. Daivari goes for his chain, however Grey comes flying out from the ring to the floor onto Daivari before he can get it.

Back in the ring, Grey heads to the top-rope. He walks the top-rope and comes flying off with a nice cross-body splash. He follows that up with a super kick for a near fall. Nigel speculates that the softened up knee of Grey could've been the reason the super kick didn't finish the job. An Unprettier attempt back-fires and as the action hits the mat again, Daivari ends up locking Grey in the figure-four leg lock in the middle of the ring for the second time.

After being stuck in the submission hold for a while, Grey eventually rolls both men to the ropes where he grabs the bottom rope, forcing the hold to be broken. Grey with a Russian Leg Sweep position and he hoists Daivari up and hits what Nigel calls a twisting slam. We see some replays of that spot. On the top-rope, we see a superplex attempt go bad for Grey as Daivari shoves him off and comes flying off after him with a Persian Splash for a close near fall. He hits a urinagi for another near fall.

Daivari goes for the Hammerlock Lariat, but Grey has it well-scouted and avoids it. He reverses and goes for an Unprettier again, this time he runs and walks the ropes, turning and piveting in mid-air and coming down with a massive Unprettier. He covers Daivari and gets the 1-2-3 for what the commentators agree is the biggest win of Grey's young career here on 205 Live.

Winner: August Grey

Legado Del Fantasma With A Message For Curt Stallion

We shoot to a video featuring the duo of Legado Del Fantasma. The duo of Joaquim Wilde and Raul Mendoza address the video message from Curt Stallion on last week's purple brand program.

They talk about how Stallion should've never mentioned the name of Santos Escobar and Legado Del Fantasma. They claim that Stallion will pay for doing so when Mendoza meets with him in the ring tonight.

The Bollywood Boyz With A Message For Four 205 Live Contenders

Now we shoot to a message from the duo of Ariya Daivari and Tony Nese and the duo of Ever-Rise.(Chase Parker and Matt Martel) from The Bollywood Boyz.

They talk about the interference they dealt with in the recent Fatal-5-Way match to determine the number one contender to face NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar.

Raul Mendoza vs. Curt Stallion

Now it's time for this week's main event, as the theme of Legado Del Fantasma plays, and out comes the duo of Joaquim Wilde and Raul Mendoza.

After they settle into the ring and Vic Joseph reads a quick Crickett Wireless advertisement, we hear the movie sounding theme song of the other WWE PC recruit, Curt Stallion, ready for his one-on-one showdown against Raul Mendoza of Legado Del Fantasma in this week's 205 Live main event.

The bell sounds and here we go with our featured bout of the evening. The commentators quickly talk about how NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar not being at ringside along with Wilde for Mendoza's match against Stallion, the man who won the Fatal-5-Way match to earn the next title shot against him, is a very telling move. They claim it's disrespectful and dismissive of Stallion as a legitimate contender and legitimate threat to Escobar.

Stallion takes it to Mendoza for the first minute or two of this bout, but from there we see Mendoza take over and quickly shift the momentum in his favor. He takes it to Stallion in the corner, putting the boots to the number one contender to the NXT Cruiserweight Title. Wilde gets in Stallion's face from the floor to talk some trash. Mendoza locks Stallion up in a choke in the middle of the ring. Stallion takes a while but eventually fights back to his feet and escapes.

Mendoza catches Stallion with a knee to the gut, however, and whips him into the corner. He follows up with a nice move and goes for the cover, however he purposely pulls Stallion up before the count of three. He stands over Stallion and taunts him, talking trash and telling Stallion he'll never be the Cruiserweight Champion. Stallion loses his cool, fires up and goes to work on Mendoza, blasting him with punches and forearms until he knocks Mendoza out to the floor where he follows him out diving through the ropes and splashing onto him.

Stallion looks around for Wilde and once he sees he's in the clear, he takes Mendoza back into the ring and whips him into the corner. He follows in with a big knee the drops Mendoza and then he runs a big circle and follows back in with a dropkick onto a seated Mendoza in the corner. He hits a big DDT for a near fall.

Mendoza starts fighting his way back into the match. Stallion cuts him off briefly, and heads to the top-rope. Mendoza pops up and blasts Stallion from the ring with a big kick while Stallion was on the top-rope. He follows him and brings Stallion down off the top-rope the hard-way, following up with a pin attempt that almost seals the deal. Stallion manages to survive, however, and Mendoza goes back to work on him. He goes for his finisher, but Stallion counters it with a pin attempt and holds on tight for the surprising three count.

Winner: Curt Stallion

After The Match: All Hell Breaks Loose

Once the match ends, as soon as Stallion scores the victory and rolls off of Mendoza, he is attacked and a two-on-one beatdown begins with Legado Del Fantasma taking it to Stallion.

Stallion hangs in there at first, but the two-on-one numbers game ends up being too much for him to deal with and Mendoza and Wilde go to work on him. Now Wilde holds Stallion and Mendoza runs across the ring and hits him with a jumping kick to the dome that drops him.

Legado Del Fantasma leave Curt Stallion on the mat completely laid out as they exit the ring. Now we're treated to some highlights from the match, which was an excellent main event, and the post-match beatdown.

Afterwards, we see Legado Del Fantasma at the top of the entrance way and up behind them, finally, walks the reigning, defending NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Esocar. He looks down at his title across his shoulder and into the ring at Stallion, who is up on one arm now recovering, knowing that's the next man who gets a shot at his championship.

And that's how this week's WWE 205 Live program goes off the air. Thanks for joining us here for our live results coverage of this week's show.
