WWE & AEW News: Malakai Black’s Contract Expiring, More Staff Layouts Expected

— Below are various WWE & AEW News:

  • Malakai Black’s contract with AEW was originally expected to expire in July, but time has been added to it by the company so it will now be going beyond that, according to Sean Ross Sapp. As well, AEW could also decide to trigger various options to extend it beyond summer.
  • The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that more staff layoffs are expected within WWE over the next week, mostly due to redundancy with UFC roles. As indicated before, the Live Events department of WWE is likely to be hit the hardest since TKO publicly merged those WWE and UFC divisions.
  • The Observer did a quick calculation of injury rates within both WWE and AEW recently. In AEW, approximately 14.9% of the roster is injured, which is much higher than the last time this figure was updated. In WWE, the injury rate is approximately 12.9%, only slightly higher than the last time. AEW appears to have have people dealing with more severe injuries for a longer period of time.
