WWE & AEW News: NXT Updates, Late Changes To TV Shows, New WWE Trademarks

— Below are various WWE and AEW news and notes over the past week:

  • Brooks Jensen, who is doing a worked shoot type of storyline within NXT, stated on social media that he is a “free agent” as of today, however, fightfulselect.com reports that he remains with WWE but will be working indie shows to sell his story.
  • Gigi Dolin’s knee injury is expected to sideline for the rest of 2024 and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported this week that the nature of the injury is that she tore her ACL.
  • Fightfulselect.com reports that there have been changes to WWE Raw, WWE Smackdown and AEW Dynamite on the day of the show multiple times over the past few weeks. All three shows have changed advertised matches at the last minute and it is believed with WWE, it was more due to creative changes while in AEW it was due to advertising errors.
  • Yesterday, the WrestleVotes account reported that WWE is close to finalizing a deal to bring three major events to Indianapolis over the next few years, beginning with the 2025 Royal Rumble. Fightfulselect.com reported that the Rumble’s 2025 location is not yet locked in but that Indianapolis could be a “likely” destination.
  • Apart from applying for the trademark “Talla Tonga” which is believed to be for former NJPW wrestler Hikuleo, WWE has also applied for the trademark “Caesar Sikoa” for TV purposes. It’s not known if that trademark is intended to be used as a new alias for Solo Sikoa or whether it will be used for another new member of the Bloodline.
