WWE announced during last night’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown that the WWE SmackDown on FOX season premiere will feature a big rematch from the WWE Clash At The Castle Event last September 3rd. It was announced that reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER will put his championship on the line against Sheamus. The match between GUNTHER and Sheamus at WWE Clash At The Castle was said to be the match of the night and a match of the year contender and both men heavily praised for their hard-hitting bout.
The match inside Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales was won by GUNTHER, but Sheamus would receive a big standing ovation immediately after the match. GUNTHER has been the current WWE Intercontinental Champion since beating Ricochet on the June 10 episode of WWE SmackDown. Sheamus has held a number of championships in his legendary WWE career, but he has never held the WWE Intercontinental Title.
WWE SmackDown on FOX season premiere is set to take place on Friday, October 7 from the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. As of this writing, no other matchups have been announced for the October 7 episode of WWE SmackDown.
