For the first time in nearly ten years, WWE will be returning to the Mecca of Sports Entertainment — Madison Square Garden — for back-to-back nights of live television this coming September from the world-famous arena in New York City.
The announcement was made this week when SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley was featured in a video that was released via the official WWE YouTube channel on Tuesday (see below).
WWE announced that they will be holding a live episode of WWE RAW from MSG on Monday, September 9th. They will return the following evening, Tuesday, September 10th, for an episode of WWE SmackDown Live.
The company has not held a television taping at MSG in almost a decade. The last televised event WWE promoted at Madison Square Garden was a live episode of WWE RAW in November of 2009.
WWE wrote the following description on the aforementioned Bayley video making the announcement:
“For the 1st Time in 10 Years WWE Returns to the World’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden, with live TV! It’s Back-to-Back nights of live TV as Monday Night RAW & Smackdown Live make their return to MSG!”
