— WWE’s next premium live event in Saudi Arabia takes place next month and last night, the company announced that they have changed the name of the show. Originally billed as The King and Queen of the Ring tournaments, the PLE will now be promoted as “WWE Night of Champions” and will emanate from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on May 27. WWE last used “Night of Champions” in 2015 before switching over to “Clash of Champions” for the next four years.
— It’s unclear what WWE’s plans are for the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments as they filed trademarks for those terms earlier this year. Historically, Night of Champions has been a PPV where all or most of the company’s title belts are defended so this also calls into question whether the King/Queen tournaments will still take place here, whether WWE will be rescheduling it for a later date or whether the plans have been abandoned completely.
