WWE COVID-19 Outbreak Updates: Who Started It This Time?, Big Changes Forced As Result

The affect of the latest COVID-19 outbreak to hit World Wrestling Entertainment is already starting to be felt as significant changes have been, and will continue to be made to upcoming WWE and NXT shows.

We recently reported that WWE was dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak at the Performance Center in Orlando earlier this month with trainees, NXT wrestlers and coaches all affected that led to significant creative changes for NXT’s weekly TV show.

PWInsider.com reports that the outbreak is still not fully under control and that training sessions at the Performance Center have been cancelled and there is no word on when it will resume.

The belief backstage is that the outbreak began after an NXT wrestler threw a party that many people attended, resulting in someone asymptomatic transmitting it to others.

Subsequently, many wrestlers and staff have since tested positive for COVID-19.

Next week’s NXT show was already taped yesterday and the next scheduled taping is actually for TakeOver on October 4, giving WWE about 10 days to see how the situation unfolds.

Additionally, WWE is attempting to safeguard against an outbreak on Raw or Smackdown by ensuring that any NXT wrestlers or officials who work at the PC will not be allowed on set at the ThunderDome for either of those shows, however, an internal concern is that some NXT wrestlers who form the RETRIBUTION stable, were already on Raw and could potentially have transmitted the virus unknowingly.

We will keep you updated here at eWrestling.com as updates continue to surface regarding the latest COVID-19 outbreak to hit WWE.
