WWE Files To Trademark New NXT Ring Names

Last Thursday, January 28th, WWE filed to trademark the “Dante Rios” ring name with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (the USPTO) under the entertainment services classification. Dante is one of NXT’s newest talent and is best known as indie wrestler Daniel Garcia, who has been working on the indie scene up to this point. Dante Rios most recently appeared on an episode of NXT where he lost to Tyler Rust.

WWE filing to trademark his in-ring name could mean that Rios has signed with the promotion, but that has not been confirmed. Dante Rios may be a part of the next WWE PC Class that will be expected to be announced soon.

Daniel Garcia has worked for several indie promotions in the past, including EVOLVE, SMASH Wrestling, wXw and Beyond Wrestling. Garcia has also worked two AEW Dark matches back in September of 2020, when he teamed up with Kevin Blackwood in a losing effort to The Butcher and The Blade as well as the team of Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss. Garcia has also competed on WWE 205 Live back in July of 2018, when he lost a squash match to Drew Gulak.

WWE submitted the following use description to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the “Dante Rios” ring name:
