Buoyed by a direct lead-in from the NFL game between the Saints and the Vikings, last night’s Friday Night Smackdown did monstrous overnight numbers, generating an average of 3.336 million viewers, making it the second most watched episode behind only the debut show last year.
The first hour, which was affected most by the NFL game immediately before it, drew 4.097 million to outpace every network show on prime-time and the second hour, while taking a big dip, still held up very well with 2.574 million viewers.
In the 18-49 demographic, Smackdown averaged a 0.95 rating (1.1 first hour, 0.8 second hour), placing FOX second on the night behind ABC which aired an NBA game that pulled in a 1.15 rating.
