The early ratings and viewership numbers for the Friday, September 4, 2020 episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown are in, and the news isn’t that great for the weekly WWE on FOX blue brand television show.
According to Showbuzz Daily, the 9/4/2020 episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown drew an average of 2.066 million viewers overnight, a decrease of 3.6-percent from the previous week’s show.
They still finished number one in the 18-49 demographic with a rating of 0.55 but that number was also lower.
This was the blue brand’s first show following the WWE Payback 2020 pay per view from this past Sunday night, where Roman Reigns became the new WWE Universal Champion.
The show saw Jey Uso become the number one contender to “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns (Watch Video Here), setting up a cousin versus cousin battle for the WWE Universal Championship in the main event of the upcoming WWE Clash Of Champions 2020 pay per view on September 27th.
Additionally, this week’s show saw the Bayley turn on Sasha Banks and viciously attack her after the duo came up short in their attempt to recapture the Women’s Tag-Team Championships from Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax (Watch Video Here), as well as the latest chapter in the ongoing rivalry between Sami Zayn and Jeff Hardy over who the real WWE Intercontinental Champion is.
Overall, the program finished sixth in total viewership behind Shark Tank, MacGyver, Blue Bloods, Dateline NBC and 20/20, which won the night with roughly 2.7 million viewers.
The full WWE Friday Night SmackDown viewership and demographic breakdowns will be available when the complete ratings report comes out on Monday, September 7, 2020.
