Video Package – Last Week’s SmackDown

To start off tonight’s edition of WWE SmackDown on FOX we are immediately sent into a video package that looks back at last week’s SmackDown “Fall Out” edition following WWE Fastlane, where Adam Pearce changed the WWE Universal Title match for the upcoming pay-per-view event, WrestleMania 37.

WWE ThunderDome Commentary Welcome!

As the video package comes to an end, we then head into the WWE ThunderDome II which is hosted at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, and we are welcomed to the Friday, April 2nd, 2021 edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown which is represented by Progressive! As we make our way around the main stage and ramp, finally looking into the crowd of monitors at the ThunderDome II, Corey Graves and Michael Cole welcome us to tonight’s edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown!

In-Ring – WWE Hall of Famer Edge

Following our official welcome to tonight’s edition of SmackDown, we head over to the ring and out comes WWE Hall of Famer Edge as his entrance theme sounds and pyro goes off on the stage. Edge rushes the ring as he is formally introduced!

Edge grabs the microphone and starts off by stating that what happened last week (and at Fastlane), the chaos and mayhem, didn’t need to happen. Then again, maybe it did. Edge continues on as he states that maybe this was all inevitable and he was being naïve thinking he could travel the Road to WrestleMania with no speed bumps, or better yet no road kill because that is what Daniel Bryan has done by weaseling his way into the match.

Edge continues on to discuss Daniel Bryan as he says he was so focused on WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns that he didn’t even see Bryan coming. He goes on and says after Pearce’s decision, Edge realized he got played. Edge then shares he’s had a lot of time to reflect this week and he looked in the mirror, and finally liked what he saw – the guy who comes out of the corner biting and swinging, doing whatever he has to, when he’s backed into the corner. He looked in the mirror and finally saw The Rated R Superstar.

This sends the fans into a frenzy! Edge then shares the graphic for the Triple Threat, calling it Pearce’s “validation” for his paycheck. Edge continues on to state he doesn’t think Reigns, Bryan or Pearce understand the ramifications of what has been done. Edge admits he snapped after what happened at Fastlane and last Friday. He then adds that he finally woke up. Edge then states that he’s the man that Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan aspire to be… a WWE Hall of Fame Legend, the Ultimate Opportunist… and he is finally here, once again… The Rated R Superstar.

Quick Announcement

Before we head to commercial break, the commentary team of Corey Graves and Michael Cole hype up the Street Fight Match that is set to take place tonight between Daniel Bryan vs. Jey Uso.

We see both Daniel Bryan and Jey Uso warming up and preparing for their match that is set for tonight’s main event! We head to our first commercial break of the evening!

Backstage – Edge

As we return from the commercial break, we see Edge backstage as Kayla Braxton asks him for comments on not mentioning the Street Fight during his recent in-ring promo. Edge cuts Braxton off stating he knows what she’s going to say next, and he doesn’t feel bad about Bryan possibly getting beaten by Uso and if Bryan can’t make it to WrestleMania. He actually looks forward to it.

In-Ring – Alpha Academy

“Look at Otis… look at that guy!” Chad Gable begins. He continues on to state that he has turned Otis around over the past few months. Gable states they will win tonight, then take the titles in next Friday’s Fatal 4 Way, doing it for The Academy.

SmackDown Tag-Team Champions – Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler

We then get the entrance theme for the current tag-team champions as Roode and Ziggler make their way to the ring! We first head into a pre-recorded interview with Roode and Ziggler as they state they are on a different level than their opponents for tonight’s match.

Alpha Academy, Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler vs. The Street Profits, Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio

With the Alpha Academy’s Chad Gable and Otis already in the ring, as well as Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler, we are finally ready to get the first match of the evening started. Out next come Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio as their entrance theme sounds in the arena and they make their way to the ring where Otis, Gable, Roode, and Ziggler are already waiting. We get a pre-recorded promo where they talk about teaming together as family and winning gold together next week.

Finally the entrance theme for the Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins representing The Street Profits make their way out. The Profits also cut a pre-recorded promo and talk about getting their titles back next Friday on the special WrestleMania SmackDown. They want the smoke. With all the teams ready for tonight’s first match-up, the referee signals for the bell. The bell rings and the match is officially underway!

To kick off the action we see Dolph Ziggler in for his team, ready to start the action with Dominik Mysterio who is in for his team. Ziggler wastes no time as he starts out with a Boot to Dominik in the corner of the ring. Dominik counters with a Tornado DDT off the second rope for an early cover. Ziggler kicks out at the two to continue the match! This causes Ziggler’s partner, Robert Roode to run in, but Rey also quickly enters for the save for his son, Dominik. Rey sends Roode over the ropes and to the floor at ringside with a Hurricanrana.

At this point we see Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins of The Street Profits come running in as they send Otis and Chad Gable to the floor at ringside on the opposing side of the ring. This leaves just Dolph Ziggler and Dominik inside the ring, as Dominik quickly sends Ziggler to the outside as well! Right after, Rey Mysterio comes flying off the apron with a Seated Senton to Roode at ringside. Dominik follows suit and takes out Ziggler on the outside like dear ol’ dad!

As we look to the other side of the ring, Montez Ford runs and flies over the top rope to take down both members of the Alpha Academy! This sends us to commercial break!

We return from the commercial break and Rey hits a Back Suplex and then lands on his feet. We then see Angelo Dawkins tag in for the Street Profits to continue the match. We then see some back and forth action that leads to the apron until we see Otis tag in for Alpha Academy to cut Dawkins off. Otis continues to work Dawkins over as he whips him into the corner of the ring. Dawkins finally gets the tag to Ford who enters the ring and lands several Dropkicks. More back and forth action. Next we see Dominik is also taken out on the floor.

We then see some back and forth action between Ford and Gable inside the ring. Ford heads up top and lands a Big Splash but Gable rolls out of the way just in time forcing Ford to roll through and continue the match. Gable then gets his opportunity to land a big German Suplex successfully to Ford. Otis who then heads up to the second rope for a 747 Splash onto Montez Ford for the three count pin and win.

Winner: Alpha Academy & Dirty Dawgz

Backstage – Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville

Following the match, we head backstage where Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville are in the middle of a conversation as Roman Reigns’s “special counsel” Paul Heyman comes strolling up to them stating that Roman Reigns asked him to come to the two of them over a small legality. Heyman continues by stating he’s there about an “indemnification clause”, a hold harmless agreement that strips Jey Uso of all liability against Daniel Bryan tonight.

In-Ring – Seth Rollins

As we head to commercial break, the entrance theme for Seth Rollins sounds as the Friday Night Messiah makes his way down the ramp towards the ring!

We return to the ring and Corey Graves is in the ring with Seth Rollins and Cesaro. Graves begins by turning to Cesaro. This causes Rollins to interrupt and state that Graves should start with him, but whatever. Graves then asks Cesaro if this weekend at WrestleMania is going to be the big come up that Cesaro has been talking about and promising the WWE Universe. Cesaro states there is something different, something in the air… “swing is in the air… everywhere I look around…” this causes Rollins to feign laughter. He then tells Graves, “I told you that you should have started with me, come on, what do ya got for me?”

Graves then turns to Rollins and says, “While we’re on the subject of ‘swinging’…” and proceeds to taunt Rollins about being swung in circles by Cesaro last week on SmackDown. At this point, Rollins gets upset and states that he feels like Graves and Cesaro are trying to shake him up but it won’t happen because he is untouchable at this time of year. Rollins then states he isn’t even going to let Cesaro get to WrestleMania, he’s going to end the dream right now.

This causes Cesaro to step towards Rollins as he dares him to… “swing”. At this point, Rollins drops the mic but hesitates, then backs away out of the ring. Cesaro then stares Rollins down as he heads to the back as his music plays.

Backstage – Carmella

Next we head backstage where Carmella is standing as Reginald the Sommelier walks by with Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler. Jax stops and asks Carmella, “Didn’t treat him very well, did you?” Carmella shrugs and they walk off as we head to commercial.

In-Ring – Sami Zayn

As we return from commercial break, we see Sami Zayn make his way to the ring as his entrance theme sounds. The commentary team hypes Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens for this weekend’s event! “Oh my goodness, ladies and gentleman! The night we’ve been waiting for, certainly I’ve been waiting for. The night of my documentary premiere! The red carpet!” Zayn goes on to state that this will prove that WWE has tried to mess with his career, and tonight will shock you, and will make a believer of the WWE Universe.

Logan Paul’s Debut!

As an actor, a writer, a podcaster, a boxer, and a social media influencer, he is proud to welcome his guest of honor… Mr. Logan Paul! Logan Paul comes out as Sami Zayn starts dancing inside the ring! Paul starts to clap as he makes his way up the ramp. As Paul enters the ring, he goes in for a handshake, but Zayn shrugs that off and looks for a hug. Zayn then hugs Paul before the two sit down in the director’s chairs inside the ring.

Zayn then goes on about his conspiracy. Logan Paul agrees, then says, “Yea, thanks for having me…” as the crowd pops. Paul states he’s proud to be in the WWE ring for the first time. Zayn states they are fast becoming friends. Zayn then formally invites Logan Paul to be his guest at “the grandest stage of them all… at WrestleMania!” Zayn freaks out excited, Logan Paul agrees to be his guest adding, “don’t hurt yourself!” Zayn notes he’s going to take down Kevin Owens… but that’s WrestleMania.

“Ladies and Gentleman… I give you the trailer, of my documentary.”

Trailer For Documentary: “Justice For Sami”

(Rated T-for Truth) “I saw that paper… she’s lying. She’s lying.” Zayn points out trick camera angles. “Are you a ‘flat-earther?” Zayn states that it’s a mass-conspiracy against him. From out of the shadows, the truth will be exposed! A massive conspiracy, with Kevin Owens possibly involved.

We return to the ring, he says, “Brava! Brava! What a gem!” Zayn then asks for Paul’s thoughts on the “cinematic masterpiece”. Logan states it’s compelling. Logan says while Zayn was in the locker room, Kevin Owens came to Paul and stated that he knew Logan for 15 years, and that he said that Zayn was possibly, neurotic among other things. Zayn is upset, stating that Logan Paul is HIS guest of honor.

Zayn continues on to state he knows that Logan Paul has been offended, but he already knows what Kevin Owens thinks, and he doesn’t want Owens to poison Logan Paul’s thoughts. Zayn then asks what Paul thinks, “I can tell you put a lot of effort into it…” Kevin Owens then comes out of nowhere with a stunner. “I don’t care how many times I am gonna have to stun you back to reality. If I can’t talk sense into you, I will beat sense into you at WrestleMania.” With that, Kevin Owens walks off, pushing Paul back as he exits the ring and makes his way up the ramp.

Logan Paul looks just as “stunned” as he looks around at Sami Zayn and up the ramp.

Backstage – Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville

Edge walks up to Pearce and states that Pearce has a habit of setting up the worst matches in history, though tonight’s match between Daniel Bryan and Jey Uso is a good match and he will be out there tonight for commentary during the Street Fight.

Announcer’s Table

Corey Graves notes that Cole glossed over that Sami Zayn was just humiliated in front of 27 million people!

Carmella’s Entrance

Carmella makes her way out for her match against Bianca Belair, which takes place when we return from the commercial break!

Backstage – Kevin Owens

(As we return from the commercial break, we see a clip from moments ago when Sami Zayn asked Logan Paul what he thought of the trailer, Kevin Owens then stunned Zayn, and put his hands on Logan Paul inside the ring.)

Kevin Owens walks up to Kayla Braxton and before she can talk, Owens states, “I bet you wanna know why I just put the stunner on Sami out there, look, I could tell you i just like doing it… which is the truth, I do. But I wanted to send a message, a message for WWE. I can stun anybody at any time and if Sami…”

All of a sudden Sami Zayn attacks from out of nowhere. “I WILL SEE YOU… AT WRESTLEMANIA!” and then Zayn runs off as Kevin Owens struggles to get back to his feet.

Corey Graves then states, good for Sami, good for Sami Zayn. Michael Cole then sends us into the Match Flo for this week highlighting the events leading to the match with Bianca Belair and Carmella.

Backstage Interview – Bianca Belair

Kayla Braxton starts off as she asks Bianca Belair about her relationship with Sasha Banks. “After I smacked the soul out her body, the legit boss finally showed up!” Belair states that she has been waiting for the Sasha Banks that she finally saw, so there would be no excuse when she beats her for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Belair then turns things over to Carmella, saying it’s her fault everyone had to deal with Reginald. Belair states she isn’t looking past Carmella, she’s looking through her.

Carmella vs. Bianca Belair

We return to the ring as Bianca Belair’s entrance theme sounds as Carmella waits inside the ring for her opponent for tonight’s match up. Before the match can even begin, Carmella attacks Bianca Belair at ringside, throwing her into the steel stairs as we head to commercial break!

As we return from the commercial break, the match is officially underway! We get some back and forth action between Belair and Carmella inside the ring. Belair lands a Dropkick followed by a Kip up. Belair then proceeds to unload on Carmella as she is yelling at her to never touch her hair again. Belair then looks for a Back Elbow which Carmella ducks under followed by leveling Belair with a massive Kick for the cover. Belair kicks out at the two and the match continues!

Both women get up on their knees now and Carmella screams about being the best. This sends a shock through the EST as Bianca Belair ducks a Kick attempt and hits the KOD for the three count pin and win!

Winner: Bianca Belair

After the Match

Immediately following the match, as Bianca Belair’s hand is raised in victory, Sasha Banks attempts a sneak attack. Belair says, “Wrestlemania, not today! Banks puts her hands up and says, ‘ok… ok…'” as she exits the ring. Belair points at the WrestleMania sign as Banks states, “I’m the one… I’m the Boss.” as she holds up her title.

Backstage – Roman Reigns and Jey Uso

We see Roman Reigns backstage talking to Jey Uso, hyping him for tonight’s Street Fight with Daniel Bryan which is tonight’s main event. We head to commercial break!

Backstage Promo – King Corbin

As we return from the commercial break, we head into a promo “I’m getting real tired, of the disrespect I’m shown here on SmackDown! I’m a KING and I DEMAND respect!” Corbin points out he has a $45,000 watch and it’s his “time” and he will take out Drew McIntyre himself because then people will be forced to respect and bow down to McIntyre.

Backstage – Apollo Crews

Apollo Crews begins as he discusses his ancestors being disrespected by WWE Intercontinental Champion Big E. He then challenges Big E to accept a “Nigerian Drum Fight” stipulation for their WrestleMania 37 match (an ancient duel created by his ancestors for those who have been wronged, as a way to make things right).

Crews continues on to state there will be no rules, no limitations, just beatings so loud that it sounds like the beating of drums. Crews finishes with a line about finally winning the title from Big E at WrestleMania.

Backstage – Paul Heyman

Next we head backstage where Paul Heyman stops Edge and attempts to play mind games with Edge ahead of WrestleMania.

Street Fight
Jey Uso vs. Daniel Bryan

As we head to the ring, out first comes WWE Hall of Famer Edge for tonight’s Street Fight main event. Edge joins the announcers for commentary as we head to commercial break.

As we return from commercial break, Jey Uso makes his way to the stage as his entrance theme sounds in the arena. Out next is Daniel Bryan as his entrance theme sounds and the crowd begins to chant, “YES! YES! YES!” Daniel Bryan makes his way down the ramp and enters the ring with his opponent, Uso who is waiting to get the action started. The referee stands in the center of the ring and signals for the bell. The bell rings and the main event match up is officially underway!

The match spills over to the outside of the ring. On the outside of the ring, Uso glances over at Edge, as Edge gives a look warning him off. Uso rolls Bryan back into the ring and grabs a steel chair. He heads over to the ring with it but Bryan drop kicks it into his face. He hits the ropes again and goes for a dive, but dives right into a chair shot from Uso, who had recovered in that short amount of time.

Bryan picks up the chair and starts wearing out Uso with it, pummeling him out of the ring with chair shots when out of nowhere, the familiar sounds of the entrance theme of Roman Reigns plays. Reigns makes his way out accompanied by Paul Heyman. Edge says there’s the man he should be facing in a one-on-one match at WrestleMania. Cole says he’s not and reminds him that it’s a triple-threat match. We see Reigns take a seat in a chair at the top of the ramp as we head to a mid-match commercial break.

When we return from the break, we see Bryan blasting Uso with repeated “Yes!” kicks in the corner of the ring. He backs up but runs right into a super kick from a waiting Uso. Uso wedges a steel chair in the corner of the ring. He rams Bryan into it and then delivers some brutal ground-and-pound to follow-up on the attack. Roman Reigns is shown smiling as he watches on at the carnage taking place in the ring.

Uso goes out to the floor and under the ring. He pulls out a tool box and in it he grabs a steel chain. He heads into the ring with it and clotheslines Bryan with the chain. He whips him with it and heads to the top rope. He hits a flying frog-splash off the top-rope and goes for the cover, only for Bryan to kick out at two. Uso rolls Bryan out of the ring and out to the floor. He follows out after him and slams him head-first into the ring apron. He then whips him into the steel ring steps.

As Edge talks about fearing no man while talking to Graves and Cole, Uso over-hears him and says he should fear some men. Edge tells him to pay attention to what he’s doing. Uso slams Bryan head first into the steel steps. Edge continues talking with his super serious voice about being forced into a triple-threat match but not fearing any man. Cole asks him about that contradictory statement, which only angers “The Rated-R Superstar” even more.

Meanwhile Bryan recovers and hits a suplex on Uso off the steel ring steps. He goes under the ring and grabs a steel chair. He blasts Uso across the back with it over-and-over again as Edge watches feet away. Now Bryan slams Uso’s head off the announce table over and over again as Edge watches inches away.

Bryan rolls Uso back into the ring and heads to the top-rope. He connects with a missile drop kick off the top. Bryan fires up, pounding the mat and waiting for Uso to get up. Uso gets up to his knees and finds himself the recipient of a series of “Yes!” kicks to the chest. Bryan grabs the steel chain brought into the ring by Uso earlier in the bout. He wraps it around his elbow and pounds the living hell out of Uso with it. He then puts Uso in the “Yes!” lock and yanks away. Uso taps out.

Winner: Daniel Bryan

After The Match

Immediately following the match, Bryan exits the ring and nails Edge with a Dropkick while he is still seated at the announce table. Bryan is unhinged as he grabs Edge and drags him to ringside. Bryan slams Edge’s head into the ring post as the announcer’s state this is NOT the Daniel Bryan we’re used to.

Immediately following attacking Edge at ringside, Bryan runs up the ramp where the Universal Champion Roman Reigns is still sitting in a desk chair next to his special counsel, Paul Heyman. Reigns sees Bryan running towards him and quickly stands up, grabbing the desk chair and throwing it towards Bryan.
