Pre-Show Opening

The Friday, May 21st, 2021 edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown opens with the recently updated WWE… Then… Now… TOGETHER opening sequence to play us into tonight’s show airing on FOX Network.

Inside The ThunderDome

As we kick off the Friday, May 21st edition of WWE SmackDown on FOX we get the opening with an intro video. At this point, we are LIVE from the WWE ThunderDome at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida as pyro goes off. Next, Michael Cole welcomes us to the show and he’s at ringside with Pat McAfee.

Official Show Opening – WWE ThunderDome Stage

To kick off the Friday, May 21st edition of SmackDown, the camera pans to the top of the stage where we see a “Parade of Champions” as the current reigning champions of WWE Friday Night SmackDown are standing side by side boasting and smiling as they are announced by Michael Cole on commentary. The camera slowly moves from champion to champion across the stage (from left to right) including SmackDown Tag-Team Champions – Dominik & Rey Mysterio, SmackDown Women’s Champion – Bianca Belair, SmackDown Intercontinental Champion – Apollo Crews, and finally SmackDown Women’s Tag-Team Champions – Natalya & Tamina!

Quick Opening Announcement

Next, we head into a quick show-opening announcement from Pat McAfee as a graphic still is shown highlighting tonight’s upcoming WWE Intercontinental Championship Title Match with Big E vs. Apollo Crews, Sami Zayn, and Kevin Owens in a 4-Way Match-Up for Apollo Crews’ title!

In-Ring – WWE SmackDown Official – Sonya Deville

As McAfee and Cole wrap up the opening announcements for WWE Friday Night SmackDown, we return to the ring where Sonya Deville welcomes the WWE Universe to an “extra special edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown!” Deville continues on to state that the news broke earlier today, “that WWE will be leaving the ThunderDome and returning back to the road, back where we belong… back to YOU!” Deville finishes her announcement as the crowd pops! We see the breaking news stills from earlier today with TMZ Sports, CBS Sports, Variety, and other news platforms headlines regarding the WWE’s return to the road!

Deville then continues on to state that with WWE Friday Night SmackDown Official Adam Pearce out on the ground scouting locations as she speaks inside the ring! After that, Deville states that she needs help celebrating the WWE SmackDown “Parade of Champions”! Deville states that “the first-ever father-son tag-team champions, Dominik and Rey Mysterio!” as the crowd pops! Dominik holds his title belt up as he smiles big for the camera, Rey pats his son’s back and smiles as well, holding up his own title belt!

Next Deville announces the WWE SmackDown Women’s Tag-Team Champions, Natalya and Tamina, both women are smiling ear to ear as the camera stops on them holding their title belts high in the air! After that, Deville introduces the current reigning WWE SmackDown Intercontinental Champion, Apollo Crews! Crews is standing in front of his Crews calls for the music to be cut. He’s not happy about having to defend in a Fatal 4 Way tonight, but says he will retain and will unleash destruction on Big E, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Deville introduces Belair last among the champions on the stage.

WWE Universal Champion – Roman Reigns Joins

Next, WWE SmackDown Official Sonya Deville calls on the fans inside the ThunderDome to welcome the current reigning WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. Reigns’ entrance music hits the speakers as we await the “head of the table” to make his way out to the stage to join the other SmackDown Champions for their “parade”. Instead of Reigns making his way out however, out comes “special counsel” Paul Heyman to the stage instead. The fans begin to boo!

Paul Heyman Speaks

To start, Paul Heyman says the Parade of Champions is nice but it’s not a parade of champions, it’s a parade of title holders. He points at each champion and calls them a title holder, and says Reigns is not a title holder, he’s a champion, not just a champion, THE champion, the preeminent champions, of all of WWE, and all of sports entertainment. Heyman says when fans buy tickets to these upcoming events, they will do it with confidence that WWE is represented by a preeminent champion like our Tribal Chief. Heyman says Reigns will not be involved in this Parade of Title Holders, but there will be a Parade of Champion later tonight, at Reigns’ leisure. Heyman thanks Deville and heads back to the back to boos.

At this point, we return to the ring where Sonya Deville is still standing as she states that that’s the first surprise of the evening, but probably not the last. She calls on the fans to applaud the champions one more time.

Bayley Interrupts

Before Deville can even make another announcement, she is cut off as Bayley hits the ring to interrupt. She’s mad she wasn’t recognized for her title reign through the ThunderDome era. She takes a shot at Dominik first, for riding his dad’s coattails. She then knocks Natalya and Tamina, but says what’s up to Apollo and Azeez. She then addresses Belair and says she cheated at WrestleMania Backlash, calling her a criminal for stealing the title.

As she continues her rant, Bayley declares that she wants SmackDown Official Sonya Deville to strip Bianca Belair of the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship title. Belair is none too pleased with the demand and immediately comes down the ramp and hits the ring, where the two mature women proceed to have words. Bayley insists that she wants her rematch.

Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax Attack Bianca Belair In-Ring!

Just as Bayley goes to exit the ring, we see Bianca Belair standing inside the ring as she is attacked behind by Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax. Natalya and Tamina run down to make the save but the heels get the upper hand. Bayley, Jax and Baszler stand tall as we head to our first commercial break of the evening!

atalya, Tamina Snuka & Bianca Belair vs. Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler & Bayley

As we return from the first commercial break of the evening, we return to the ring where the match is ready to get underway following the attack that took place as we were heading into the commercial break before. Now inside the ring, we see Nia Jax successfully land a Splash out of the corner that connects to the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Tamina Snuka in the corner. Jax then immediately follows up with an Elbow Drop for the cover to Snuka. Tamina is able to kick out at the two to continue the match-up.

Cole says this match is taking advantage of the quarterly Brand-To-Brand Invitational with Superstars working the opposite brand. Back in the ring, we see Shayna Baszler on the apron stretching in to get the tag. Baszler finally tags in and works over Tamina in the heels’ corner. Baszler is able to take Tamina down for yet another pinfall attempt, with Tamina again kicking out at the two to continue the match up! At this point the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair reaches for the tag as she is ready to get in their and handle business!.

Bayley tags back in but Tamina fights her off from the corner. Bayley rams her back into the corner and works her over. Tamina finally nails a big suplex and in comes WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Natalya off the tag. Natalya with a snap suplex to Baszler, then Bayley. Bayley ends up countering and dropping Natalya. Baszler tags in and starts bending and stretching Natalya’s limbs. Jax tags in and slams Natalya for a 2 count. Belair tags in and dropkicks Baszler, then kips up.

At this point, Bianca Belair takes Shayna Baszler to the corner where she proceeds to connect with several thrusts in an attempt to wear Baszler down. Finally, Baszler counters and applies the Kirifuda Clutch but Belair gets free. Belair ends up catching Baszler with a big Spinebuster for a pop. Belair goes to the top but Bayley and Jax pull Baszler to the floor to safety. Belair turns her direction and leaps to the floor from the top, taking down all three opponents with a crossbody. Belair sits up against the barrier and clutches her knee. On that note, we again head to the commercial break!

We again return from the commercial break and now we return to the ring where we see that Bayley currently has Bianca Belair laid out on the canvas inside the ring as Bayley continues to focus on the injured leg of Belair to continue the match. Ar Belair tries to scramble away but Bayley grounds her with a hold. Fans rally for Belair as she sends Bayley through the ropes to the floor. She comes right back in and stops Belair from tagging. Bayley knocks Natalya off the apron with a cheap shot. Belair dodges an elbow and tags in Tamina.

Tamina unloads on Bayley, taking her to the corner with face-first turnbuckle shots. Tamina drops Baszler on the apron and powerslams Bayley. Natalya tags in with a basement dropkick and a German suplex to Bayley. Tamina comes back in and Natalya launches Bayley into a superkick from Tamina. Tamina covers but Bayley grabs the bottom rope to break the count. Natalya tags back in but Bayley dodges the discus clothesline. Natalya goes for the Sharpshooter on Bayley but didn’t see Baszler tag in. Baszler drops Natalya to break the hold.

Next, Tamina comes in and headbutts Baszler. Natalya and Baszler scramble. Bayley runs back in but ends up dropped with Natalya’s discus clothesline. Jax runs in but Tamina superkicks her. Baszler sends Tamina to the floor. Finally, Bianca Belair drop Baszler but Bayley pulls her to the floor for a Bayley-to-Belly suplex on the floor. Natalya kicks Bayley off the apron to prevent her from coming back in. Baszler takes advantage and grabs Natalya from behind and drops her into the Kirifuda Clutch for the submission win.

Winners (By Submission): Shayna Baszler, Nia Jax & Bayley

Immediately following the match, Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax stand together inside the ring to celebrate their victory just as the music hits. We go to replays. Where would we be without this truth and this armor of agony. Let’s hear about where we keep are deepest and darkest sins. Sins that you embody. Father always said there isn’t an art to being evil. This is full of cruel thoughts and evil dreams. You live proudly in your cesspool of sins and denial because it is all you are. It has become your identity. To be loathsome and blind. You are sick and dying. It is time for me to separate the weak from the strong. As Father taught me, it is time to cull the herd.
