“Are you ready for a good time??” We see the opening credits begin for the new season of Friday Night SmackDown which kicks off with newcomer Seth Rollins featured to start the line-up as the music sounds in the intro! The former Monday Night Messiah has settled into his place on SmackDown along with others who switched over in the recent WWE Draft 2020 quite nicely!

We enter the ThunderDome at Amway Center in Orlando Florida for the Season Premiere of WWE Friday Night SmackDown on FS1 sponsored by Progressive.

Announcer’s Table

Michael Cole is joined by Corey Graves on commentary as they kick things off with a quick welcome and rundown for tonight’s edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown! We are informed that Hell in the Cell is this Sunday, Tribal Consequences in an “I Quit” match will be revealed tonight. “LAW & Otis” tonight, both parties have agreed to binding litigation.

The Kevin Owens Show

The “KO Show” is announced over the speakers in the ThunderDome at Amway Center Arena as we head to the ring where Kevin Owens is standing, ready to start tonight’s edition of “The KO Show”. Owens begins, “You know, now that the dust has settled and everyone has filled their contractual obligations. We’re good… everyone is where they’re supposed to be now. I welcome you to my first edition of the Kevin Owens show in my new home SMACKDOWN!” The crowd claps and cheers. Owens says he loves it. “My first guest, for this very special episode of The Kevin Owens Show, the first, KO Show, on SmackDown… is a former four time WWE Champion, and one of the most technically skilled competitors to enter this ring. The leader of the “Yes” movement… DANIEL BRYAN!!

Daniel Bryan Enters

In a suit and his hair slicked back, Daniel Bryan makes his way out to the stage as his entrance theme plays over the speakers in the ThunderDome! Daniel Bryan begins with the fingers pointing to the sky as he hops down the ramp shouting “Yes!” in unison with the crowd! Daniel sits down in the seat across from Kevin Owens as Owens welcomes him to “The Kevin Owens Show” and thanks him for being there. Owens says he also wants to thank Bryan for mentioning him, last week when he was talking about the list of Superstars he looks to face on SmackDown.

“We pushed each other to be better. And that’s the attitude I want from every single superstar here on SmackDown…” Bryan states as Owens says normally they just kick the hell out of each other. Owens then asks Bryan what his vision is for SmackDown. Bryan says “We have the best, fresh, young talent in the WORLD. We have guys like Jey Uso, like Big E. I wanna see who’s gonna step up next,” Bryan states. Bryan then continues, “On a more personal note… I would like to see the Intercontinental Championship being defended every week on SmackDown.” Owens says he’s pumped Bryan brought up championships.

Owens says he wants to talk about more particularly, the Tag-Team Championships. Owens declares, “I’ve accomplished a lot, but I haven’t, can you believe it, I’ve never been a Tag-Team Champion, can you believe it?” Bryan responds, “Yea, you’ve betrayed a lot of friends.” Owens counters he thinks Bryan is focusing on the wrong part, that Bryan should just imagine what they could do as a team, and he even has a name picked out— “Team Hell KO”. Bryan correctly points out that would be Owens teaming with Kane, and Owens admits he’s right but they’d be better than Team Hell No.

Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode Interrupt

Ziggler says there’s a “little party” out here tonight and he and Roode feel a little slighted that they weren’t invited. Roode states they’re the greatest Tag Team on the planet. Dolph drops a ton of Van Halen references and Roode says they should be focusing on them and not on whatever aspirations KO and Bryan have.

SmackDown Tag-Team Champs The Street Profits Join As Well

“Oh we’re starting out tonight like this? Dawkins says Ziggler and Roode look like they pulled their look out of 1984! “Tell ’em why fam…” Dawkins states. Well, clearly, they want the smoke, you see.

Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura Interrupt As Well

Before Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins even make it to the ring… “Surprise, surprise!” Cesaro begins. “We’re just getting disrespected again.” Cesaro makes a reference that confuses everyone. As everyone comes face to face. “Kevin, I think we should test your theory about how good of a tag-team we would be right now…” Bryan says as he looks to Owens. An all out brawl ensues inside the ring as we head to our first commercial break!

Artist Collective (Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura), Dolph Ziggler, & Robert Roode vs. Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, & Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford)

As we return from our first commercial break, we head into a match already in progress. Owens hits a Lariat that sets up the Senton on Shinsuke Nakamura. Dawkins tags in now and immediately Shinsuke strikes with knees. Shinsuke gets Dawkins into the corner, hits a Double Whip then a Double Boot for the cover. Dawkins is able to kick out at the two. We get some good back and forth action, until finally the Street Profits double-team Roode inside the ring. Roode finally recovers and hits a Suplex followed by a Float Over that leads to a tag to Ziggler now. Ziggler enters the ring and hits a Dropkick that sends Ford to the mat.

Ziggler continues to work over Ford inside the ring, Ford is able to get away while connecting a Dropkick to Cesaro along the way. Finally a tag is made to Daniel Bryan (i’ve been waiting to see the “Yes!” Man in action!). Bryan connects with Uppercuts on Cesaro followed by a Whip Across that leads into a Low Bridge to the floor. Bryan runs the ropes and hits a Suicide Dive! Bryan follows the action towards the ramp, delivering a Chest Kick. Bryan throws Ziggler back inside the ring as he heads up top. Crossbody delivered!

Cesaro is shoved into the corner, and then followed up with a Running Dropkick! Next we see a Whip that is reversed and a successful Backflip up and over the ropes, but Bryan falls short as he gets caught up. Cesaro takes advantage of the error as he lands a strong Uppercut that sends Bryan to the canvas at ringside. The referee continues the count and as we head to commercial break, Cesaro rolls into the ring to break the count.

As we return from commercial break once again, Bryan’s injured leg is now the focal point for the heels who continue to deliver damaging blows that tear at Bryan’s leg over and over again. Bryan looks for a way to come up, but then Ziggler lands a Dropkick. Now we see Roode tag in to take Ziggler’s place with a strong new sense of determination! Roode sets Bryan up on the top turnbuckle, then climbs up himself to meet Bryan. Bryan successfully knocks Roode off the turnbuckle and lands a Missile Dropkick! In comes Dawkins with the tag! gets Dawkins quickly clears the ring, hitting a Spinning Stinger Splash sets up a One-handed Bulldog for the pin, but Shinsuke kicks out!

Nakamura lands a Kick that takes Dawkins to the mat. Nakamura goes for the pin this time, Dawkins kicks out at two. Tag to Cesaro, knee drop-assisted Doctor Bomb! Lots of quick paced action as everyone delivers a move that counters to the next superstar until finally Dawkins delivers the Sky Hight and Ford heads up top for his infamous high flying Diving Splash onto Cesaro for the three count pin and win!

Winners: Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, & The Street Profits

Law & Otis

The People’s Court theme song plays as we enter the court room… We see Ron Simmons as the bailiff “Court of the ThunderDome” is now in session. The “honorable” John Bradshaw Layfield presiding. For the record, The Plaintiff, Miz (dressed in a nice tailored suit and has John Morrison sitting at his side, sunglasses and all), is suing the Defendant, Otis, for “emotional distress”, Want and Destruction of Property, Creating An Unsafe Work Environment, and “Money in the Bank” Negligence. “With that being said, counselor, please proceed with your opening argument.” Bradshaw states.

Miz’s lawyer goes to stand, but Miz puts his hand up and says, “I’ve got this.” Miz stands, “Your honor…. I am here for the truth! Case law is on my side.” Miz names random cases of the past, real or fake I’m not sure, pretty sure fabricated.

Otis stands to give his argument. “I think I deserve the MITB contract, because… I won, the MITB Ladder Match… thank you.” Miz’s lawyer admits that that is a good argument. Miz looks appalled as he states she’s fired. The lawyer grabs her yellow legal pad (haha) and leaves. To be continued…

Bianca Belair vs. Zelina Vega

The EST of the WWE makes her entrance as we see a video package of Belair twirling her braid and workin’ it in the WWE. Bianca Belair in her debut match on SmackDown, makes her way down the ramp with her hair twirlin’ as we head to commercial break!

Bianca Belair makes her entrance to send us to break.

Backstage – Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, and The Street Profits

We return from commercial break and Daniel Bryan, Owens, and the Profits are backstage completely hyped up as they are screaming and celebrating their victory. Bryan is excited and says “Up with the smoke, right? FIST ME BOYS!” Ford and Dawkins have a blank stare momentarily at the request… then they laugh and cheer again.

Dawkins and Ford walk off and Bryan is left standing by himself. Sami Zayn enters the frame and approaches Bryan. Zayn says he feels Bryan disrespected him earlier when he talked about what the Intercontinental Champion should be doing. Zayn finishes by informing Bryan that as long as he is the Champion he’ll do as he pleases.

Zelina Vega Entrance for Bianca Belair vs. Zelina Vega Match

We return to the ring where Bianca Belair is waiting in-ring for her opponent of the evening. Zelina Vega makes her entrance and slowly makes her way down the ramp and enters the ring. The referee signals for the bell, the bell rings and the match is officially underway, Belair’s first official match on SmackDown!

To start things off, Vega is reluctant to lock-up. Vega goes to the top rope but Belair throws her off and does her little dance around the ring. Vega kicks Belair from the mat but Bianca shows off her upper body strength as she lifts Vega’s entire body off the mat and proceeds to body slam her. Belair drops Vega and hits a Standing Moonsault, then slaps herself in the behind.

Vega grabs onto the apron to stop Bianca dragging her back inside, then kicks her. Vega hits a hurricanrana but Belair cracks her with a right hand. Belair deadlifts Vega into a military press and drops her face-first on the turnbuckles. Belair hits the Kiss of Death for the win!

Winner: Bianca Belair

After the Match

Bianca Belair celebrates inside the ring as we go to replays from the match.

Video Promo

We get a promo video for THE FREAK, Lars Sullivan. The man is standing backstage with an oddly thick beard and THE FREAK will be live next, we head into commercial break.

In-Ring – Shorty G

We return from commercial break and we see Shorty G is in the ring with Kayla Braxton and she asks why he chose this match. Shorty explains that in short (no pun intended, hehe) “he’s sick of it.” He can’t even get drafted, so if he wants to prove himself he’s going to do it against the biggest guy in the yard.

Lars Sullivan vs. Shorty G

Both SmackDown superstars are inside the ring as the referee signals for the bell. The bell rings and this match-up is officially underway! To start things off, Shorty quickly ducks Lars to jump on the middle rope and Dive at him with a Crossbody but gets caught. Sullivan hits a Fall Away Slam, then throws Gable up for a huge Flapjack.

Lars puts Shorty on his shoulders but G rakes his eyes. Shorty rallies and hits a rolling Liger Kick, but a second is dodged and he hits the buckles. Lars gets angry and tosses Shorty across the ring with a biel and Michael Cole calls him a “hulking, ferocious, man-being.” Sullivan slams Shorty, then hits The Freak Accident for the win.

Winner: Lars Sullivan

After the Match

Following the match, Kayla returns to speak to Shorty G once again where she asks Shorty how he feels now. Shorty responds with a short (i can’t help myself) response, “I quit.”

Backstage Interview – Seth Rollins

We head backstage where we head into an interview with the newcomer to SmackDown, the former “Monday Night Messiah” himself, Seth Rollins. Rollins is asked about facing Murphy tonight. Seth says Murphy joined the Mysterio family last week but tonight he gets his hands on him. He says Murphy is confused, like everybody, and he needs to understand the greater good is all of us. We all have a role to play and Murphy is a disciple. Tonight he will define Murphy’s role for him and that sounds like fun to him.

Video Clip

We see Roman Reigns sitting at home with Paul Heyman by him, and he pushes two plates of food away from him. He looks angry and shushes Heyman as we head to commercial break.

Trainer’s Room – Shorty G and Adam Pearce

As we return from commercial break, Shorty G is sitting in the trainer’s room getting iced from his beatdown from The Freak just moments ago. Adam Pearce walks in and asks if he heard him right, he quits? Shorty responds, “yes, I quit being Shorty G.” Shorty goes on to state he’s tired of being a dumb character that is defined by his height. He’s can’t be a smiling buffoon because it gets him nowhere. So he will become the man who can get anything he wants. An Olympian with a long list of accomplishments…and it’s long (innuendo). And that man is Chad Gable.

In-Ring – Bayley

We return to the inside of the ThunderDome where Bayley is standing inside the ring, she sits in ol’ faitful, the steel chair she beat her former best friend with, Bayley sits with her SmackDown Women’s Championship. Bayley begins by stating she is annoyed because she can’t get away from Sasha Banks. She says she did eight interviews today and all anyone asked was about Banks. She says last week Banks said she is bigger than the Women’s Championship, and if that doesn’t show how big her ego is. Bayley says she is done with Sasha and she won’t be signing the stupid contract, so she can burn it for all she cares.

Sasha Banks Interjects

Sasha Banks’ music hits and she comes out holding the contract for their Hell In A Cell match. Banks tells her she needs to sign it and Bayley laughs, then lifts her chair and swings it but Sasha ducks it. Banks lifts the Women’s Championship and says she’ll give it back when Bayley signs the contract.

Bayley grabs at the title but Sasha pulls her in and knees her. Banks wraps the chair around Bayley’s head and stands on the leg, then tells Bayley sign the contract but Bayley kicks her. Banks grabs Bayley from behind, still trapped in the chair, and chokes her over the contract. She coerces Bayley into signing the contract, then kicks her. Banks says that, on Sunday, she will take Bayley’s title and finish what she started.

Law & Otis (Pt. 2

We return to the courtroom for more Law & Otis. At this point, John Morrison is on the stand and he declares that Otis assaulted him and The Miz. He says it’s hard to explain the emotional trauma caused by Otis, and The Miz gives him a tissue. Rey Mysterio takes the stand and says he was in that Money In The Bank match; eight guys walked in and only one walked out. Otis won straight up and he deserves his title. Next Asuka is in the stand and she screams and rants in Japanese while everyone looks confused. Teddy Long appears and says he understood her, to which Asuka says “holla”.

Tucker is on the stand and he says Otis is a sensitive man. Miz crossed the line and he deserves everything that comes his way. Miz asks if he can treat Tucker as hostile and JBL says it’s about time things got hostile. Miz questions Tucker about whether or not Otis neglected the Money In The Bank contract. Tucker says the only things he knows is that since all this started, Otis only wants to beat the hell out of Miz, and so does he. Tucker jumps up and Miz backs off with everyone yelling until Simmons tells them to shut up. JBL says he’s going for a short recess and Teddy Long is going for a pee as we head to commercial break.

As we return from commercial break, we are once again back in the courtroom and JBL says something has been missing. He says he’s supposed to believe Otis is guilty for causing mental and emotional harm while creating an unsafe work environment. Well that’s comes with being a WWE Superstar and if it was a crime he and Simmons would be serving life sentences. And as for Otis neglecting the contract, he has a year to cash-in. So he must rule in favor of…

The Miz interrupts JBL and says there’s a key piece of evidence he has yet to show. The Miz lifts a black briefcase and Simmons gives it to JBL. The briefcase is full of money and JBL licks his lips. He says in light of the new evidence he has to side in favor of The Miz. Which means this weekend at Hell In A Cell, Otis will face The Miz with the contract on the line. JBL leaves and Simmons says “damn”. We head to commercial break once again.

Seth Rollins vs. Murphy

We get entrances from both Seth Rollins and Murphy as they both make their way to the ring one at a time. The referee signals for the bell. The bell rings and the match begins!
The match starts with a stiff lock-up and they struggle for control. Seth forces him to the corner and pokes him in the face. They lock-up again and Murphy forces Rollins to the opposite corner. Seth shoves him and yells that he is the disciple, not the messiah and shoves his face. Murphy takes him down by the arm and holds him there.

Seth turns the tables following a stiff right hand and a headlock. Murphy shoots him off, ducks down, leapfrog, and drops Seth with a punch. “Come on Murph… when are you gonna learn? Disciple… Messiah!” Rollins shouts at Murphy. Murphy knocks Murphy to the canvas, then knocks Rollins out of the ring. Murphy baseball slides out of the ring and Rollins is leaned up against the apron knelt down. As Rollins heads at Murphy, Murphy sends Rollins up and over, dropping Rollins with a Body Drop landing Rollins on his head on the announcer’s table as we head to commercial break!

As we return from commercial break, commentary notes that Murphy is holding his own in this match up as he lands a Back Elbow on Rollins. Rey asks why Aliyah is watching the match on the screen backstage as he and Dominik walk up. Aliyah says she’s an adult and she can do what she wants as Rey tries to pull her away from the screen. We return to the ring. Rollins has a Waist lock locked in as both men are laid out on the canvas. Murphy struggles back to his feet, but is successful. Murphy slams Rollins into the corner, Rollins then does the same. Missile Dropkick by Murphy, Rollins is down!

Murphy explodes out of the corner with a Clothesline. Murphy sends Rollins to ringside. Murphy flies over the top rope, almost missing Rollins completely! Murphy hits a Meteora for a near-fall. Murphy looks to have popped his shoulder out, as he heads to the outside. Rollins drives Murphy into the barricade. Rollins gets Murphy back inside for a two-count. Murphy rolls to the apron and Murphy slams him down by the shoulder – we see Aliyah looking concerned backstage as we head to commercial break!

We return from the commercial break, Murphy looks for the Sunset Flip Powerbomb, but his arm gives out! Murphy unable to use his left arm. Rollins lands a Buckle Bomb to Murphy! Murphy hits a Knee to take Rollins down. Murphy hooks the leg for the cover and Rollins kicks out at two! Rollins begins slapping Murphy in the head and face “disrespecting me… you piece of crap! I am the Messiah, YOU are the disciple! Get up! GET UP!” Rollins shouts between blows. Murphy back to his feet, hits a hard right. Rollins and Murphy both at their feet, Murphy with a strike to the jaw of Rollins.

A Kick to the midsection of Rollins. Step Up Enzuguri by Rollins. Rollins with a big Roundhouse followed by a Falcon Arrow for the cover. Murphy kicks out! Rollins is frustrated now! We see a replay of the kick out. Murphy is rocking around on the mat as Rollins returns to his feet. Rollins has a look of evil on his face, “You’re gonna learn Murphy… one way or another…” Rollins goes for the Stomp, Murphy rolls through, Rollins tries again for the Stomp, Murphy shoves Rollins into the corner. Murphy heads at Rollins, Rollins with a Back Elbow, Murphy counters with a Kick. Rollins slams Murphy face first and finally gets the Stomp for the cover and the three count!

Winner: Seth Rollins

After the Match

We immediately head into replays. As we return to the ring, Rollins has a kendo stick. Aliyah shouts, “Go help him!” at Dominik and Rey, they both refuse. Aliyah says, “If you aren’t going to help him, I will!” and runs off. Back in the ring, Rollins is standing inside the ring with the kendo stick. “You stand behind me! When are you going to learn Murphy? NO ONE has your back!” Aliyah heads down the ramp and Rollins turns to see her. Rollins smiles and laughs, “Where’s your back up little girl? Where’s your back up?”

Dominik suddenly appears at ringside as Aliyah lays over Murphy’s body to try and protect him. “She came out to support you!” Rey says to Dominik. “This is none of our business” Dominik says to Rey. They turn and Aliyah is holding Murphy in a passionate looking embrace. Rollins is halfway up the ramp after fleeing from the Mysterio patriarch, Rey who came down with a chair in hand ready to strike “The Messiah”.

Backstage – Roman Reigns Dressing Room

Paul Heyman emerges from Roman’s room after a hand knocks on it. The unknown employee says it’s time and Heyman says it’s time when Roman says it is. We head to commercial break.

In-Ring – Roman Reigns w/ Paul Heyman

As we return from commercial break, the Universal Champion Roman Reigns makes his way out to the stage accompanied by Paul Heyman as Reigns music sounds in the ThunderDome. Reigns makes his way down the ramp with a serious look on his face as he heads towards the ring with his belt laid over his shoulder. Reigns stops momentarily as he stands at the outside of the ring. Reigns enters the ring and holds his championship belt high over his head. Heyman hands Reigns a microphone. The crowd boos.

“Yo, tribal chief, yea, yea…” we hear from the ‘tron above the stage. Reigns looks up to see his cousin with a bandana over his face. “Yea, you see it. We have some tribal cheese, and some tribal rasp-berries, and some H20. I bet it is GREAT to be the tribal chief, I bet it’s even better to be cousins with him. Or at least it was. You changes Usse. You got your head so far up your tribal chief ass, you done lost ocnnections with yourself… and with our family. Who am I to ask, don’t ask me, right. Ask my brother Jey. He’s right behind you.” Jimmy pulls the mask down as Reigns realizes what was said and Reigns turns just in time to be attacked by Jey Uso!

Reigns goes to hit Jey with a steel chair, Jey with a Superkick. Jey Uso hits the Uso Splash across the ring onto Reigns inside the ring. Jey slides out of the ring and makes his way up the ramp, leaving “The Big Dog” laid out inside the ring. Jimmy comes out to meet Jey on the ramp as the two are hyped up. Heyman has returned to Reigns side. We see Reigns return to his feet as the Usos hug one another.

“It’s all just games huh? It’s funny to you boys. Because you don’t understand, I understand. If you make me quit, I’m not the Universal Champion. I’m not the face of the WWE, I’m not the head of the table, I’m not the tribal chief, I’m not the provider of generations and generations of our blood line. If you make me quit, I can live with that. But the question is, can you. When I make you quit, and I will MAKE you quit. You will fall in line, you will take orders, you will acknowledge me, you will respect me for who I am and all I do in the WWE and for our family.”

Reigns continues, “If y ou just can’t…. then you’re out.” Jey repeats, “I’m out?” Reigns says, “…and you brought your brother with you too. Your wives, your children, your children’s children, you’re all out of the family.” “Who are you?” Jey asks. “You’ll be out of the family, we will all turn our backs on you. THOSE are your consequences.” Jey looks to have tears in his eyes. Jimmy and Jey watch as the cell begins to drop around Roman Reigns.

Commentary notes that Roman Reigns has been in not one, not two, but three Hell in a Cell matches and has never been beaten. Jey Uso must make Reigns say the words, “I quit” and if he doesn’t, then Jey and Jimmy’s families are out of the family dynasty for GOOD.

Jey begins crawling the cage, stopping half way up as he looks down at Reigns who is holding the championship belt. Jey and Reigns stare one another down. That ends the show.

**Be sure to return this weekend for Hell in a Cell LIVE coverage as the pay-per-view airs LIVE on the WWE Network and *I* will be here delivering LIVE play-by-play coverage and results for the show! As always, stay safe, stay healthy, and stay awesome! I’m out!!**
