WWE Friday Night SmackDown Results (09/11/20)

Opening Video Package

The September 11, 2020 edition of Friday Night SmackDown begins with a video package featuring Paul Heyman speaking about Roman Reigns and his need for time off after a serious illness and what is the thanks he gets? He’s stripped of his title and it’s given to a Monster!

Roman Reigns then speaks as well, reiterating the same sentiment.

Video Clip – Jey Uso and Roman Reigns Backstage (Last Week)

A video clip showing Jey Uso thanking Roman Reigns for getting him an entry into the Fatal Four-way Match for the title. Roman Reigns responds, “You don’t owe me, Paul made that happen” Reigns finishes by stating, “Let’s see if you can get one on your own this time”.

Video Clip – Jey Uso Winning Fatal Four Way (Last Week)

“Look cuz, I made the family proud too!” Uso says following his victory in the match last Friday.

Are you ready?? The regular opening for Friday Night SmackDown airs, we then return to the ThunderDome where Roman Reigns’ music sounds.

In-Ring – Universal Champion Roman Reigns

The Big Dog, Roman Reigns makes his way to the stage as his music sounds in the ThunderDome in Orlando, FL. Reigns is accompanied by his “special counsel” Paul Heyman.

Commentary notes, “two weeks from Sunday will be Reigns’ first title defense at Clash of Champions: Gold Rush against his cousin, Jey Uso for the Universal Championship.” Cole goes on to state that this is Uso’s first singles title match.

Paul Heyman Speaks

“Ladies and gentleman, your tribal chief has issues me to speak…” Heyman begins as the crowd continues to “boo” as Heyman and Reigns are now in the ring. Heyman continues over the boos, “…tonight to enlighten you on some recent history. Two weeks ago, right here on Smackdown, we let the secret out of the bag. We told everybody what only the two of us knew. And two days later, at Payback, what happened? Roman Reigns wrecked everyone and left, and he left as the Universal Champion. Last Friday, here on Smackdown, your tribal chief authorized me to tell everything, to leave all the cards on the title. …And that very night, his cousin Jey Uso stepped up…and emerged as the number one contender for the Universal heavyweight championship.”

Heyman then shares, “Therefore your champion has bestowed upon me the honor and privilege of introducing to you that number one contender–the challenger for the Universal Championship…yes, legally, he’s Roman Reign’s cousin but he (might) as well be his brother. Ladies and gentlemen, Jey Uso.”

Jey Uso Joins Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman

Jey Uso’s music sounds in the ThunderDome as Jey makes his way to the stage and the crowd pops. Jey comes out to applause and cheering. Michael Cole shows us old photos of Jey and Roman growing up together, and Jey calls this the “big dog vs the underdog.”

As Jey lifts the mic to speak, he thanks Paul Heyman for his part in getting Uso the #1 contender match in the Fatal Four-Way event during last Friday’s SmackDown. Heyman says in a very innocent, drawn out voice that Jey doesn’t need to thank him, that “Big E” (Heyman stresses both words) thought of the idea, Heyman simply implemented and executed the command what his boss suggested. Heyman calls Reigns the “your tribal chief, the reigning, defending, undisputed, Universal Champion… Roman. Reigns.” Again the crowd “boos” loudly.

Reigns speaks up, “You don’t have to thank me, we’re blood. Years we’ve thought about this. Roman stands there smug, and gets on a mic, commenting: “You don’t have to thank me. We’re blood. For years we’ve thought about this. We’re family, man. Proud of you. The whole family’s proud of you.” He tells Jey this is his moment, and he doesn’t need to thank Roman. Roman then says “At Clash of Champions, that won’t be your moment.” He tells Jey to enjoy this moment but just like when they were little kids, “I’m gonna whoop your ass.” He repeats that again. Jey says it’s different–they’re not kids now, they’re grown men now. “It’s different Uss”.

King Corbin Interrupts

“Enough, enough, enough. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out this was a set up. You pulled strings to hand pick your first opponent for title defense… your own cousin.” King Corbin begins. Corbin says nothing makes him more sick than someone abusing their power.

Sheamus Interrupts As Well

“I’m gonna have to agree with your royal heinus here. This whole situation stinks… stinks!” Sheamus notes that strings were pulled and Jey Uso was suddenly in the match. Uso interrupts Sheamus. Sheamus says “The grown ups are talking”. Jey responds, “You ain’t my mama.” Jey then continues and responds to Sheamus saying Usos addition was sudden and very last minute. “You weren’t prepared? How about we take you on right now. How about “The Blood” (he points to himself and Reigns) against “Butt Mud” (he points to Sheamus and Corbin)…” Jey finishes as Sheamus runs at Jey.

Jey then throws Sheamus over his shoulder and out to ringside. Corbin runs in but Uso is fired up and sends Corbin shoulder first into the ring post. Roman Reigns doesn’t budge, holding his title over his shoulder.

Roman Reigns exits the ring, Jey Uso looks on, with a bit of confusion on his face.

March 8, 2020 I won the title. Then I successfully defended the title against Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania. I take a few months off and WWE crowns a SHAM champion, but I’m back now boys. You two want to beat each other up, fine, but I want this put as an exhibition match.

Adam Pearce walked out with security and ushered Zayn to the back Sami Zayn is removed from the stage stating, “Don’t touch me. But you should be ashamed, all of you. This is an insult!”

We return from commercial break Back from commercial, Hardy runs the ropes but Styles throws him out through the ropes! AJ putting boots to him on the floor, Jeff manages to put Styles into the steel steps for breathing room and follows it up with a leaping leg lariat! As she enters the ring, Bayley opens the chair and sits down in it, lifting the mic to hear the upset from the crowd surrounding her. Bayley sits in the chair she brought to the ring. Bayley says everyone wants to know how Sasha Banks is feeling and when she will be back. No one is asking how Bayley is feeling.

Bayley admits to loving every minute of the beat down she gave Banks. Everyone wants answers well she has questions. Bayley isn’t dumb. Bayley knows that Banks was just biding her time. Banks pretended to be Bayley’s best friend. All along Banks was using her. Bayley knows that because she was using Banks too!

Bayley continues on to share that she never cared about Banks. Thanks to Banks, Bayley was Bayley Dos Straps. Thanks to Banks, Bayley has held the SmackDown Women’s Championship for over a year. Bayley calls Banks useless now.

Bliss helped Cross to her feet, kissed her, and then put her down with Sister Abigail as we head to commercial break!

Highlights were shown of Bliss acting like she was in a trance while walking up the ramp. The match continued without Bliss. Evans and Tamina fought in the ring while Cross was still down at ringside. Evans performed a moonsault on Tamina and had her pinned, but Cross returned to break it up.

Cross worked over both opponents and hit a bulldog and clothesline combo. Cross covered Evans for a two count. Cross performed a tornado DDT on Tamina and then put Evans down with a move, but Tamina recovered to break up the pin attempt. Firefly Fun-house

Namaste Fireflies. Now, before the fun begins, there is something I’ve been meaning to get off my chest… As you can see, thanks to Roman Reigns, something very special is missing from the Funhouse (flashes of Reigns with the title in ring).

Bray continues on to say it’s ok, because everyone experiences loss, and how you handle loss defines who you become.”

A graphic stating, “The Less You Know” flashes across the screen on a shooting star. Bray moves on stating he has a new friend, that has overcome “SO MUCH” as he welcomes the Squalling Perceiving Parrot. Bray asks him to say something inspirational. Bray then says again… “COME ON… say something, inspirational.”

Ramblin’ Rabbit says, “He flew the coop dude” then Sister Abigail adds, “Polly want a tombstone?” Bray notes he shoulda put holes in the box. The Vince McMahon peeks his head in the door says, “what the ‘my home’ is going on here? you clearly can’t handle the responsibility of the firefly fun-house on your own. this is non-negotiable, otherwise you’re… you’re….” Bray agrees. Vince then welcomes the new advisor to the Firefly Funhouse. “Ladies and Gentleman” My name is Wobbly Walrus. Bray looks back and forth to Vince and the Walrus finally stating with shock, “Yowie Wowie!” before the ending song plays him out. “We’re really glad that you’re our friend, and this is a friendship that’ll never, ever end!”

King Corbin & Sheamus vs. Jey Uso & Roman Reigns

We return to the ThunderDome where King Corbin makes his official entrance for tonight’s match up as pesents carry Corbin on his make-shift throne down the ramp and to the ring where Corbin enters wearing his crown as he awaits his opponent for the evening. Out next, Corbin’s tag-team partner, Sheamus as his music sounds.

Cole notes that this will be the first time in seven months that Roman Reigns is in action on SmackDown, when we return from the commercial break and he (along with cousin, Jey Uso) take on Sheamus and Corbin.

As we return from commercial break, Jey Uso makes his way out as his entrance theme sounds over the speakers in the ThunderDome for this Main Event match up. Uso makes his way down the ramp, joining Sheamus and Corbin inside the ring as he awaits his own partner…. Nothing.

The match begins as the bell rings and there’s back and forth action between Jey Uso and Sheamus/King Corbin early on in this match that now looks to be a two on one handicap match instead of a tag-team match up. Jey is thrown around the ring and knocked down like a rag doll until finally Jey catches his second wind and nothing is holding him back!

King Corbin sends Uso into the corner, then misses wildly. Jey Uso looking to put Corbin away with a roll up pin attempt. Corbin delivers the Deep Six and goes for the cover on Uso who kicks out. Sheamus delivers Ten Beats from the apron on Uso. Uso is planted directly on the canvas by the Celtic Warrior who then fixes his spikey hair before continuing in this 2 on 1 Handicap Match (which is supposed to be a tag-team match, but Reigns is nowhere in sight even NOW). Jey lands a kick to the face. Sheamus tags back in. White Noise by Sheamus (same move used on Big E last week) for the cover on Uso for the two count. Sheamus looks to land his finisher when suddenly…

Roman Reigns Enters!

Roman Reigns music sounds. Enzuguri catches Sheamus. Jey Uso flies through the ropes sending Corbin over the announce table right into Graves lap. Uso goes up top and lands a Superkick. Reigns makes the tag as Uso flies off the top. Reigns with a Spear on Sheamus for the three count pin and win after stalking him from the corner of the ring.

Winners: Roman Reigns and Jey Uso

“Wreck Everyone and Leave” shirt once again. Though Jey Uso had things handled, Reigns tagged in and took the win with little effort.

After the Match

Special Counsel to the Tribal Chief, Paul Heyman delivers the Universal Championship belt to Roman Reigns at the top of the stage. Jey Uso limps his way up the ramp, joining his “tag-team partner” of the evening at the stage.

Jey lifts his arm in victory as well, as Roman Reigns lifts the Universal Championship belt high above his head. As Jey’s hand touches the belt, Reigns looks over at Jey with a look of warning. Jey removes his hand, but returns the glare until the end of the show.

That’s all folks!
