As noted, WWE has stacked the deck with their Christmas Day edition of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX, as three championship matches are advertised heading into the post-WWE TLC 2020 show this week.
Those matches are as follows:
- * Roman Reigns (c) vs. Kevin Owens (Universal Title Cage Match)
* Asuka & Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair (Women’s Tag-Titles)
* Sami Zayn (c) vs. Big E. (Intercontinental Title LumberJack Match)
We can report exclusively here at eWrestling.com that the WWE Intercontinental Championship will be changing hands from Zayn to the former big man in The New Day in the main event of the Friday, December 25, 2020 episode of SmackDown on FOX.
WWE INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE CHANGES HANDS ON CHRISTMAS SMACKDOWN
As noted, Zayn vs. Big E. will be a LumberJack Match with the I-C title on-the-line, and the bout will close the weekly blue brand show — which returns to FOX this week after airing last week’s WWE TLC 2020 PPV “go-home show” on sister-station FOX Sports 1 (FS1).
The SmackDown on FOX main event will, in fact, feature a title change to go off-the-air on a positive note for the holiday edition of the WWE on FOX program and the last episode of the show of 2020.
The finish of the match will see Zayn attempt to escape the ringside area only for the babyface lumberjacks to throw him back in the squared circle, where Big E. hits him with his “Big Ending” finisher for the pin fall victory to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion.
The win will mark the start of the second reign with the title for Big E., as the former New Day big man held the title for the first time back in 2013 after he pinned Curtis Axel to win his inaugural I-C belt.
