— WWE Hall of Famer Afa Anoa’i has passed away at the age of 81. News broke last night that Afa’s situation was grave and his death imminent, but the Samoan family icon continued to battle. Today, his son confirmed the sad news via Facebook:
“It is with deepest regret that we announce the passing of my father Afa Anoai Sr. It was a peaceful transition and he was surrounded by loved ones,” his son Samu wrote. “Please respect our privacy as we morn our father.”
— Afa’s situation has been touch-and-go for a while after he suffered two heart attacks early in 2024 while battling pneumonia. He then underwent multiple back surgeries after suffering a broken back in a fall that happened in March. Sadly, his younger brother and the other half of the Wild Samoan tag team, Sika, passed away just a couple of months ago.
