Bill Goldberg is optimistic about being cleared to wrestle soon after teasing an official retirement match in 2025.
In a recent interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, the 58-year-old WWE Hall of Famer expressed confidence that his return to the ring was imminent after undergoing stem cell treatment. He shared that he expects to be physically ready in the near future.
“I don’t have any idea,” Goldberg said regarding a return timetable. “I just know that I got stem cells five weeks and six days ago, and I’m cleared physically in a very short period of time.”
Goldberg had revealed in December on his own podcast that he planned to use stem cell therapy to address his shoulder issues before his final match in 2025, citing his shoulder as the primary concern for his in-ring return.
Later in the chat, he revealed that he plans on jumping back into the ring for some sparring sessions.
“I’m going to jump in the ring and start sparring seven to eight days from now. I got to be smart about it. But yeah, 2025, it’s going to happen. And I don’t know who it’s going to be against. I don’t know when it’s going to be. But I guarantee you, whoever it’s against, they’re going to understand what it’s like being in there with Goldberg.”
Goldberg also discussed the possibility of facing Gunther in his retirement match, especially following their interaction at WWE *Bad Blood* in Atlanta last October. In the segment, Gunther mocked Goldberg by calling him a “one-trick pony” and questioned whether he was a better father than wrestler.
“If it was Gunther and I, that would be logical. There’s some heat there, obviously, that’s already been placed. And he’s the new generation. I’m the old generation. It’s kind of like a passing of the torch in a way.”
