CM Punk/ WWE Update

WWE Has No Interest In Luring CM Punk Back Into The Ring, Vince McMahon “Can’t Do Business With Him”

Apparently WWE has little to no interest in attempting to lure CM Punk back into the ring, as Vince McMahon reportedly feels he simply can’t do business with Phil Brooks.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter at ran a story about WWE’s general lack of interest in bringing back CM Punk.

It was noted that Vince McMahon still labels Punk as the one man who he “can’t do business with” and nobody in upper management, including Paul Heyman, has even bothered to argue that point or push him to reconsider.

There was a time when Punk’s agent reportedly tried to open discussions with WWE about a return but was turned down and Punk’s role with ‘WWE Backstage’ is still purely something FOX wanted.

WWE ended up approving it so not to cause any “waves” in their new relationship with the network giant.

While some argue that a surprise, one-time appearance at WrestleMania would have been great for both sides, there are some people backstage who were told that Punk de-valued himself by choosing WWE Backstage as his “return” to wrestling, especially when after the initial spike in ratings, his return seemingly caused no further jumps in viewership.

Perhaps the only reason – at this point – that Vince McMahon would want to work with Punk directly is to keep him away from AEW.
