WWE HELL IN A CELL 2022 KICKOFF SHOW RESULTS

The Kickoff Show gets started with the panelists introducing themselves. We’ve got Kayla Braxton as the host, who introduces Kevin Patrick, Peter Rosenberg, Jerry Lawler and Booker T.

Cody Rhodes Update For Tonight

The guys (and gal) banter back-and-forth for a moment and then send provide an update on Cody Rhodes’, confirming his injury but also making it clear that despite rumors to the contrary, he will still be wrestling against Seth “Freakin'” Rollins in the Hell In A Cell main event match later in tonight’s show.

From there, the panelists run down some of the other matches scheduled for tonight’s show. Then, they send us into our first of many elaborate video packages that tell the story leading up to a particular bout on tonight’s card.

Up first is an in-depth look at the events that led to tonight’s Raw Women’s Championship three-way showdown pitting current title-holder Bianca Belair against Asuka and Becky Lynch.

The Kickoff Show continues with a look at the music video for the new MVP diss track to Bobby Lashley ahead of their Handicap Match tonight on the PPV card.

We shoot to some more video packages detailing the build-up to some more of the bouts on tonight’s show, including The Judgment Day vs. AJ Styles, Finn Balor & Liv Morgan, Mustafa Ali vs. Theory for the WWE U.S. Championship and more.

We head to a quick commercial time out and when we return, we are sent down to ringside where Michael Cole mentions the No Holds Barred contest pitting Madcap Moss one-on-one against Happy Corbin. The video package telling the story leading up to this match airs now.

After some more talk from the panelists, we head to our final elaborate pre-match video package. Our final package looks at the story behind tonight’s Hell In A Cell match main event between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.

When the package wraps up, we head back to the Kickoff Show panel for one final time. The panelists give their analysis and insight into the match and then give their predictions for the winner. They are split down the middle with some picking Cody and others going with Seth.

The WWE Hell In A Cell 2022 Kickoff Show is now in the books. The panelists plug the Raw Women’s Championship three-way as the opening contest and then the pre-show fades off the air.

It’s pay-per-view time, folks! Stick with us here at Rajah.com for live results coverage of the WWE Hell In A Cell 2022 PPV throughout the evening.

WWE HELL IN A CELL 2022 PAY-PER-VIEW RESULTS

The always bad-ass pre-PPV cold open video package for tonight’s WWE Hell In A Cell 2022 special event airs to officially get the pay-per-view portion underway.

From there, we shoot live inside Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois where the thousands of members of the WWE Universe in attendance make a ton of noise as the camera pans the arena and settles down at ringside where the commentators welcome us to the 14th-annual WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view.

Corey Graves, Byron Saxton and Jimmy Smith then send us to the pre-match video package for the Raw Women’s Championship three-way title contest.

Raw Women’s Championship
Bianca Belair (C) vs. Asuka vs. Becky Lynch

Kicking things off inside the ring on the PPV card this evening is our first match of the evening. The opening contest will see the Raw Women’s Championship up-for-grabs, as current title-holder Bianca Belair defends against Asuka and Becky Lynch.

When the package wraps up, we return inside the arena where Asuka’s theme hits and out she comes. Also making her way to the ring is Becky Lynch.

With the two challengers settled inside the squared circle, we hear the familiar sounds of Bianca Belair’s entrance tune. In comes “The EST of WWE” looking confident and ready for action.

The three competitors are in the ring and ready to rock. The ring announcer handles the final, formal pre-match ring introductions for this championship bout. The rules are read, reminding fans that all three women’s wrestling stars will be starting off inside the ring.

With the pre-match rituals in the rear-view mirror, it’s time to get our first bout of the evening underway. The bell sounds and we’re officially off-and-running with this one. “EST! EST!” chants fill Allstate Arena from the onset.

Belair, Lynch and Asuka all start circling each other. It looks like Belair and Asuka are going to team up and double-team Lynch. That’s essentially exactly what happens, as Asuka takes her down and then Belair does the same.

Belair knocks Lynch out of the ring and then sets her sights on the only other competitor in the ring — Asuka. The two lock-up and start going at it. Asuka goes behind Belair off the lock-up, but Belair reverses back into front-facing position. Asuka snap-mares Belair down and then the two hit the ropes. Asuka ends up decking the champ with a big clothesline.

Asuka gets a little too close to the ring ropes after the clothesline connects, as she ends up getting tripped up by Lynch at ringside. Lynch re-enters the ring with intentions on capitalizing on that spot, however Belair ends up planting her into the mat after catching her on the top-rope and bringing her down the hard way.

Asuka comes out of nowhere with a dropkick on Belair and then a bulldog on Lynch. With Belair and Lynch each on their knees, Asuka starts lighting them both up with repeated kicks. She rams Lynch into the corner and then whips Belair into the corner next, resulting in “The EST of WWE” colliding into the body of “Big Time Becks.”

On the mat, Asuka locks in an arm-bar attempt on Belair. She transitions into a triangle attempt, but Belair uses her strength and power to Donkey Kong the challenger into the mat to free her arm.

After some more back-and-forth action and shifts in offensive control between Lynch, Belair and Asuka, we start to get to the near-fall after-near-fall following high-spot after high-spot portion of the bout.

We see some super close near finishes, including Lynch locking up her DisArm Her submission finisher and Asuka getting her Asuka Lock in. Neither were able to finish things off with their usual tap-out-drawing holds.

When all is said and done, Lynch hits the Man-Handle Slam on Asuka and goes for the cover, only for Belair to pull her off and send her to the floor and cover Asuka herself. 1-2-3. Belair steals the pin from Lynch to retain her Raw Women’s Championship in an excellent opening contest here at WWE HIAC.

Winner and STILL RAW Women’s Champion: Bianca Belair

2-On-1 Handicap Match
Omos & MVP vs. Bobby Lashley

Once the Raw Women’s Championship three-way wraps up, we head to the video package to tell the story leading up to our second bout of the evening here at WWE HIAC.

The package wraps up and out comes Omos and MVP. The duo make their way down to the ring looking ready for action in this scheduled two-on-one handicap match.

Omos and MVP settle inside the squared circle and their music dies down. The familiar sounds of Bobby Lashley’s theme hits and out comes “The All Mighty” looking confident.

Lashley settles inside the ring and heads to the top-rope in the corner to pose for the sold out crowd in Rosemont, Ill. Pyro and fireworks explode as he poses for the WWE Universe in attendance.

His music dies down and now it’s time to get our second match of tonight’s PPV underway. On that note, the bell sounds and we’re officially off-and-running with this handicap contest.

It looks like MVP and Bobby Lashley are going to start things off as the legal two men in the ring, but instead, MVP lures Lashley into his corner of the ring, where he tags in the giant man.

Omos enters the ring looking like the enormous human being that he is. Lashley, unphased, goes after Omos, but his offense is having no affect on the big man thus far. Omos repeatedly shrugs off the attempts by “The All Mighty,” shoving him down to the canvas on multiple ocassions.

Now we see Omos raise his hand and challenge Lashley to a test of strength. Not sure how Lashley is even going to get his hand up that high. It turns out he doesn’t have to, as he begins beating on Omos with a wild flurry of punches, catching the big man off guard.

We see Omos recover well, however, and he plants Lashley into the mat before tagging in MVP. MVP hits the ring and picks up where Omos left off, taking it to Lashley.

MVP has Lashley on the mat and is pummeling him with ground-and-pound. Lashley eventually gets back to his feet after MVP leaves a small opening when taunting Lashley by yelling out to the crowd, “Is this your All Mighty, right here?!”

Lashley proves he is, in fact, “All Mighty,” as he uses his mighty power and strength to take it to both MVP and Omos. He beats MVP down and then when Omos hits the ring, he drills him with some big punches as well.

He makes one mistake in the form of a suplex attempt on the massive man, and this allows Omos the opening needed to take back over control of the offense. Omos hoists Lashley up and drops him down with snake eyes in the corner.

Omos establishes firm offensive control over “The All Mighty” and then MVP tags in. MVP blasts Lashley with a big boot that sends him out to the floor.

While on the floor and MVP is in the ring gloating, Omos runs over and smashes Lashley through the barricade next to the commentary table. The referee makes it to the count of nine, nearly counting out Lashley. However, Lashley rolls into the ring just after the count of nine to keep this match alive and well.

We see MVP and Omos with Lashley right where they want him. Out of nowhere, Cedric Alexander, who as the commentators point out has a bad habit of getting involved in situations related to former members of The Hurt Business, hits the ring.

Omos ends up using his one mighty paw to eject Alexander out of the ring with extreme prejudice. Unfortunately for the big man, the distraction was all Lashley needed, as Omos turns around into a huge spear from “The All Mighty” that sends him out to the floor.

Lashley ends up focusing on MVP after Omos is cleared out of the ring. He secures his finisher, The Hurt Lock, on his former mentor, MVP. MVP taps out. That’s all she wrote, folks. Bobby Lashley wins in this one-on-two handicap match.

Winner: Bobby Lashley

Kevin Owens vs. Ezekiel

The package for the Kevin Owens vs. Ezekiel match airs now. When it wraps up, we return inside Allstate Arena where Kevin Owens’ theme hits. Out comes the fan-favorite veteran to the ring for our third match of the evening.

He settles inside the ring and his music dies down. Now Ezekiel’s theme hits and he makes his way out as highlights of his recent interaction with Owens on WWE TV leading up to tonight’s PPV showdown airs.

We return live and we see Ezekiel looking like a modern day Ultimate Warrior, complete with the tassels on the arms and the colorful neon-style tights and arm / knee wraps.

The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with this one. Straight out of the gate, Ezekiel connects with a running flying knee that nearly be-heads Owens. He goes for the cover with hopes of finishing this one off immediately, however Owens kicks out.

Now we see Owens take over on offense as the action spills out to the ringside area on the floor. Outside of the ring, we see Owens gain more offensive momentum after he rams Ezekiel into the steel ring post.

Back inside the ring, Owens continues his attack, beating down Ezekiel with relative ease thus far. The commentators point out Ezekiel has yet to taste defeat in one-on-one action since his WWE Monday Night Raw debut just as Ezekiel kicks out of a couple of back-to-back pin fall attempts by Owens.

Owens yells at Ezekiel calling him a liar and saying he’s not one. He starts shouting the name “Elias! Elias!” at the brother of the veteran WWE performer.

Ezekiel ends up shifting the momentum back in his favor shortly after this, but it doesn’t last for long. Owens turns the tide back on his side after drilling Ezekiel with a big super kick while he was on the top-rope. From there, Owens goes on to finish him off for the victory.

Winner: Kevin Owens

Edge, Damian Priest & Rhea Ripley vs. AJ Styles, Finn Balor & Liv Morgan

After the video package telling the story leading up to our next match of the evening wraps up, we return live inside Allstate Arena where the lights go out.

The theme for The Judgment Day plays and out comes the trio of “The Rated-R Superstar” Edge, Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley. They settle into the ring and their music dies down.

Now Liv Morgan’s theme hits and she makes her way out and stops. The theme for Finn Balor hits and he comes out to join her. Finally, AJ Styles theme hits and after a big pop from the fans, “The Phenomenal One” heads to the ring along with Balor and Morgan.

All six competitors are in the ring now and it’s time to get this one underway. The bell sounds and this match is officially off-and-running. It looks like Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley are going to kick things off for their respective teams, but instead all six competitors start ferociously duking it out in the center of the ring.

Morgan connects with a hurricanrana that sends Ripley into the corner. She backs up and charges at her, building up a full head of steam before hip-splashing into her in the corner.

Morgan goes to the well one too many times, however, and runs into a big shot from Ripley that sends her down to the mat with authority. The one headbutt from Ripley completely shifts the momentum into the favor of The Judgment Day team.

Ripley taunts Styles and Balor in the babyface corner before turning her attention back to Morgan. She hoists her up and holds her upside down in the air for a while before dumping her down behind her with a vicious suplex. She goes for the cover, but Morgan kicks out after the count of two.

We see some back-and-forth action and then some fresh blood tags in and the pace of this one picks up. We see Balor faring well until Priest and Edge see to it that it comes to an abrupt end.

Now The Judgment Day take over, and take turns tagging in fresh blood to beat on Balor, who remains isolated in the ring and kept away from his corner so that no tag can be made.

Eventually Styles does, in fact, get the tag, and he fires up on offense, pulling his team back into competitive form. He hits a Phenomenal Forearm that looked to be a match-ending shot, however moments later we see his team lose after a pin fall from “The Rated-R Superstar.”

After Ripley put herself in harms way and provided a big assist, The Judgment Day leader, Edge, connects with a big Spear that turns his opponent inside-out. The WWE Hall of Fame legend goes for the cover from there and scores the pin fall victory for his team. Excellent six-man match here at WWE HIAC.

Winners: The Judgment Day (Edge, Damian Priest & Rhea Ripley)

Bobby Lashley Approaches Cedric Alexander Backstage

After the six-person tag-team contest wraps up, we shoot backstage where we see Bobby Lashley walking the halls following his victory in his one-on-two handicap match against Omos and MVP earlier in the evening.

Lashley walks up to Cedric Alexander, whom he sees backstage. Before he can say anything, Alexander cuts him off and says he didn’t interfere in Lashley’s match just to help him, he did it for himself.

Alexander talks about feeling like the unwanted toy no one wants to play with in WWE as of late. He says he did what he did tonight for himself.

Lashley lets him finish and then changes his demeanor when informing Cedric to never involve himself in any of his matches or affairs ever again.

No Holds Barred Match
Madcap Moss vs. Happy Corbin

It’s time for No Holds Barred action here at the 14th-annual WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view, as Madcap Moss vs. Happy Corbin is up next.

The video package airs to tell the story leading up to this NHB bout between former friends turned rivals. Once it wraps up, we head down to the ring and get ready for this one.

Madcapp Moss’ theme hits and out comes the fun-loving WWE Superstar. He settles in the ring and then Happy Corbin’s music plays to bring him out.

Both guys are inside the squared circle now and the bell sounds to officially get this No Holds Barred match off-and-running.

We see some back-and-forth action early on. The first big spot comes when Corbin sends Moss flying onto the commentary table, where he crashes and burns in a painful bump.

From there, Moss starts to shift the offensive momentum into his favor. It doesn’t last long, as Corbin continues to show his vintage violent streak as he takes it to his former pal.

Corbin gets a hold of a steel chair and absolutely wears Moss out with it. The fans let Corbin hear their thoughts as they start a loud “Assh*le! Assh*le!” chant that echoes throughout the arena.

Corey Graves makes it clear he doesn’t trust the members of the WWE Universe inside Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill. because they put pickels on their hot dogs — which he calls weird.

We digress. Back to the action — we see Moss get a hold of the steel chair that Corbin introduced into the bout. He grabs it and beats the hell out of Corbin with it. The fans enjoyed these chair shots much more than the ones Corbin was dishing out moments ago.

We see some more brutal chair shots and then Corbin chop-blocks the knee of Moss. He heads out to the floor and brings in the top-half of the steel ring steps, which he wedges into the corner of the ring.

It is Moss, however, who Donkey Kong’s Corbin onto them for the victory. Moss celebrates what Michael Cole calls a “career defining victory” for him here at WWE HIAC.

Meanwhile, Corbin is stretchered to the back after the bout. Pretty damn good No Holds Barred match between Moss and Corbin here tonight.

Winner: Madcap Moss

WWE United States Championship
Theory (C) vs. Mustafa Ali

It’s time for our second championship bout of the evening here at the 14th annual WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view.

Following a quick advertising time out, we return inside Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., where the familiar sounds of Theory’s theme music hits the house speakers.

The fans let their negative reaction be heard, as it echos throughout the Chicago-based arena as the Selfie King of WWE settles inside the squared circle.

The reigning and defending champion struts around the ring with his U.S. title draped over his shoulder after taking a couple of selfies. His music dies down and he awaits the entrance of his opponent.

Now the entrance tune for Mustafa Ali hits and out comes the hometown hero himself to a nice Superstar reaction from the fans in Rosemont. He plays to the crowd upon making it to the ring and then settles inside.

The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with our second and final championship contest of the evening. Our co-main event is now officially underway.

We see Theory get off to a good start, grounding Ali and pummeling him with ground and pound before getting back up and focusing his offensive attack on the arm of Ali.

Ali eventually fights his way into the offensive driver’s seat and he pops the crowd as he turns up the intensity and gets the pace to speed up in the process.

The action is picking up from both guys now as Theory starts to fight back into competitive form. We see Ali blast Theory with a huge kick that almost turns Theory inside out.

Theory nearly counters a big spot from Ali, however Ali avoids it and ends up planting the WWE U.S. Champion with a huge DDT.

We see Ali look to follow that up with another high spot, but it was a case of going to the well one-too many times, as Theory had it well-scouted and counters.

Theory ends up blasting Ali from behind with a chop block to the back of Ali’s knee. Moments later, Theory finishes Ali off to retain his WWE United States Championship.

The youngest U.S. Champion in WWE history continues to prove his value to Mr. McMahon and the company in general, as he finishes off Ali in Ali’s hometown in the co-main event of tonight’s WWE HIAC pay-per-view.

The commentators put Theory’s win over as a true championship performance from the youngster. Of course no Theory match is complete until we see the champ snap a selfie or two.

Winner and STILL WWE United States Champion: Theory

Hell In A Cell Match
Cody Rhodes vs. Seth “Freakin'” Rollins

It’s main event time, folks.

After Theory’s win in his WWE United States Championship defense against Mustafa Ali, we head to a quick advertising time out.

When we return from the commercial break, we get ready for our highly-anticipated headline bout of the evening.

The 14th-annual WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view will, in fact, be headlined by a Hell In A Cell rematch between “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes and Seth “Freakin'” Rollins.

This one was in jeopardy before the show even got off-and-running this evening, as Cody is dealing with a serious injury.

It was noted during the WWE Hell In A Cell 2022 Kickoff Show tonight that Cody suffered a partially torn right pectoral tendon during a brawl with Rollins earlier this week during their segment on the HIAC go-home edition of WWE Monday Night Raw on the USA Network.

Additionally, while weight-training in preparation for tonight’s big HIAC match main event, Cody’s tendon tore completely off the bone. Despite this, Cody has agreed to still enter Hell In A Cell for his third straight showdown against Seth “Freakin'” Rollins.

The elaborate video package airs now to tell the story leading up to tonight’s bout between Cody and Seth.

We see Seth Rollins make his way out to the sounds of his “BURN IT DOWN!!!!” theme as the fans chant along with that line in the song.

Seth “Freakin'” Rollins definitely made sure he’s going to be an equal talking point tonight despite Cody’s sacrifices in working this match severely injured, as he comes out in a robe disguising his ring gear.

Why?

Well, because he’s taking a shot at the Rhodes legacy and sending a message to Cody Rhodes before the bell sounds to get their third consecutive PPV fight off-and-running.

What message is that, you ask?

Polka Dots.

Yes, polka dots.

“Freakin'” Rollins emerges and takes the robe off to unveil a very similar black singlet that is covered in yellow polka dots, ala Cody’s late father, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes.

The crowd reacted big upon seeing it, as did the social media world when the news reached Twitter, Instagram and other outlets.

Rollins settles inside the ring after dancing around and doing the flippy-hands-elbow thing that Dusty would do in his matches throughout his in-ring career.

The music for Rollins dies down and now after a slight delay, we hear the familiar guitar riff to start off Cody Rhodes’ entrance music.

“The American Nightmare” emerges as the crowd very, very loudly chants along with the “WOOO-OOOH!” portion of the tune.

Cody enters the Hell In A Cell-enclosed squared circle and takes his ring jacket off to unveil a sickening, disgusting bruised and swollen pectoral muscle area.

Both men are inside the Hell In A Cell enclosed ring and there’s nothing left to do but get this main event showdown underway.

With that said, the bell sounds and we get our headline bout of the evening off-and-running here at the 14th annual WWE Hell In A Cell 2022 pay-per-view.

The fans inside the sold out Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois nearly take the roof off the joint with an explosion of cheers and chants after Cody nearly finished this one as soon as it started. He connected with a Disaster Kick and tried wrapping this show up in record-setting fashion, however it’ll take a lot more than that to keep Seth “Freakin'” Rollins down.

Especially the polka dot-covered Seth “Freakin'” Rollins.

Rollins ends up taking over after that initial burst of offense from the babyface fighting with essentially one arm this evening.

Despite all the odds being stacked heavily against him as the match progresses with Rollins inflicting more and more damage, “The American Nightmare” refuses to be put away. He keeps hanging in there, but isn’t able to mount much of an offense.

He starts to get in some offense, but again “Freakin'” Rollins cuts it short and takes right back over. He heads under the ring and pulls out a sledgehammer.

Rollins, with a sledgehammer in hand and a sickening smile on his face, begins heading back into the ring with evil intentions planned out for Cody Rhodes.

Thankfully, we never find out what exactly those evil intentions were going to entail, as Cody cuts him off on the way in and connects with a huge Pedigree.

Cody looks to follow that up with an immediate pin attempt, and while he got every bit of two-and-a-half, he didn’t get three, so the match continues — and gets even more violent, if you can imagine. A kendo stick is brought into the mix, which is beaten off the very, very, VERY badly bruised pectoral of Cody. Seth also sets up a table in the corner of the ring.

Now we see Cody notice the sledgehammer laying in the ring away from Rollins. He picks it up and looks at it intently as he hoists it up high in the air.

He begins walking towards Rollins’ direction, however Rollins comes to life out of nowhere and brutally lays Cody out. He then hits a Cross-Rollins, using Cody’s own finisher on him. Corey Graves immediately calls for “The American Nightmare” to stay down and let that be the end of this one.

He wouldn’t hear of it.

Cody kicks out of the subsequent pin attempt by Rollins, and this Hell In A Cell match continues.

Cody and Seth both struggle back to their feet and we see Cody hit a series of big spots on Rollins. He then goes for his Cross-Rhodes finisher. He connects. He goes for it again. He connects again.

He decides to finish off Rollins with a “Freakin'” sledgehammer shot to the dome. 1-2-3. “The American Nightmare” closes the Seth Rollins’ chapter of his WWE comeback story. Absolutely incredible main event, especially considering the condition of Cody’s pectoral heading into the cell this evening.

That will do it for the 14th annual WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view, as the broadcast goes off the air from Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois after Cody’s post-match celebration.
