WWE Holding Staff Meeting Today; Backstage News on WWE/Endeavor Deal & Vince’s Involvement

— After announcing that the company has been sold to Endeavor, WWE is holding a company wide meeting prior to tonight’s Monday Night Raw, with a scheduled start time of 4 PM EST. An email was sent out ahead of the meeting with the highlight being that Paul “HHH” Levesque will remain WWE’s Chief Content Officer despite all the bigger changes at the top.

— Some have carefully scrutinized Vince McMahon’s comments this morning about being involved in WWE’s creative at a high level but not wanting to be in the “weeds” and wondered if it’s only a matter of time before he’s fully immersed in that department, however, sources within the company believe that even if he is involved, it will be Levesque running the Gorilla position and “leading the charge”, according to fightfulselect.com. The report added that Vince actually likes the way creative is being run right now and is looking to take on more of an advisory role.

— Others have wondered if Vince chose Endeavor as his selling partner due to the fact that their leader Ari Emanuel is a friend and would keep him involved or even re-integrate back into WWE even though publicly he’s pushed the message that he was perfectly willing to sell to a company even if they didn’t want him around in any capacity. Sources from the other businesses that were interested in buying WWE expressed reservation of keeping Vince involved and those feelings grew even stronger when WWE proved that they could be successful without him and in many metrics, they actually improved. The opposite was true of Stephanie McMahon, with multiple companies interested in bringing her back should a sale go through.

— The fightfulselect report added that a “big part of the deal” was WWE’s desire to tap into their international markets and expand, especially as it related to television rights and site fees that they are looking to capitalize on as the company feels they have even more potential in those areas. However, there are no plans for WWE to go back to the PPV model of having a la carte pricing for each of their PLE/PPV shows so those are expected to remain on the WWE Network for now.
