WWE Monday Night RAW (September 14, 2020)
Show Opening
The show opening stops momentarily as we see lightening and hear thunder inside the ThunderDome Cole describes as a “state of the art interactive experience” as we are welcomed to “In Your Face” Monday Night RAW by Michael Cole alongside Dolph Ziggler and Byron Saxton as Tom Phillips Samoa Joe have the night off!
In the Ring – WWE Champion Drew McIntyre
The entrance theme for Drew McIntyre sounds as our WWE Champion makes his way to the stage, then down the ramp towards the ring. “McIntyre heads into “Clash of Champions” with a fractured jaw,” Michael Cole reminds us. Cole then asks Ziggler for his thoughts on the WWE Champion. “We’ve been in the ring together and opposing, I’ve labeled him the ‘Scottish Psychopath’ because that’s what he is.” Ziggler responds.
Video Package – Highlights of McIntyre/Orton Feud (& Keith Lee)
As McIntyre enters the ring, we get a video package highlighting all the events leading up to tonight between Drew McIntyre and the Legend Killer, Randy Orton. From Drew’s fractured jaw after being punt kicked twice by Orton, to Orton receiving not one, not two… but THREE Claymore kicks to the head by McIntyre stating, “How does it feel?”
Randy Otton broke my jaw… but I’m back. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize he intended to do so much more. So I consider myself lucky it’s only a fractured jaw. Randy Orton should feel lucky his head is still attatched to his body after three Claymore kicks to the head.
Non-displaced fracture, WWE told him to take time off. McIntyre said no, he would rather leave the ThunderDome in an ambulance before ever giving up my championship. McIntyre then looks into the camera telling Orton, “Tell the nurse to turn up the volume so you can hear this part” he continues on to state they’ve both recently taken a ride in an ambulance, so Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship in an Ambulance Match because clearly mate, the rules don’t apply to us anymore. If Orton makes it to Clash of Champions.”
McIntyre continues on “The Claymore, the most deadly weapon in all sports entertainment. It’s funny, I made that move a few years ago, I was wearing some tight tight leather pants. I ran to kick my opponent in the head, and I realized the crotch was gonna split, and I’m Scottish I don’t know if you know this, but we’re kinda allergic to underpants, that crotch splits woulda been an international incident. So what I decided to do was kick up my left leg, knocked my opponent out, knocked myself silly. I realized if I could develop this maneuver, I got something special on my hands. And I developed it. I’ve actually got a picture here of some of the people that received the Claymore.”
McIntyre then adds the jokes on him because it hurts to smile as the picture appears on the jumbotron.
WWE Official Adam Pearce Interrupts
“Pardon the interruption, don’t mean to step on the fun, but let’s get down to what this really is about. The extensive severity of Randy Orton’s injuries. The situation is this, Randy Orton may not be able to face you in any match. So now your match against Keith Lee means so much more. If Randy can’t make it to Clash of Champions, and Lee wins tonight, then Keith Lee will face you at Clash of Champions.”
Keith Lee Joins
“Oh bask in his glory… for he is… Limitless.” Keith Lee’s entrance theme sounds and Lee walks past Adam Pearce, making his way to the ring alongside his longtime pal, Drew McIntyre. The two smile at one another.
McIntyre extends his hand, to which Keith Lee (still smiling) accepts and the two shake hands as Drew mouths, “I’ve waited a long time to see you here” and Lee just smiles on as he continues to walk in a circle, McIntyre attempts to let go of Lee’s hand as he goes to exit, Lee doesn’t let go. McIntyre looks a little surprised, but smiles on… as does Lee, as we go to commercial break.
Champions vs. Champions Tag-Team MatchStreet Profits vs. Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro
Out first are Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins representing The Street Profits. The two make their way down the ramp towards the ring dancing and strutting with their red cups in hand as usual. As they enter the ring, we hear the music for Cesaro sound as he makes his way to the stage, awaiting his partner. Shinsuke Nakamura makes his way out next as his music plays. He and Cesaro begin their descent down the ramp as Cole sends us to a picture-in-picture promo from earlier today,
Nakamura & Cesaro Promo Earlier Today
Cesaro rambles about something, as he goes into the story of his breakfast, “This morning during breakfast, the barista asked how I felt about my upcoming match with The Street Profits, I got so angry, that I smashed it on the floor!” Cesaro continues on, “Tonight on RAW we gonna ruin the perception they are the best tag-team in the WWE” To which Nakamura finishes, “If they want smoke, they’ll get some.”
We return to the ring and all four superstars are now in the ring. To start things off, Angelo Dawkins is in for the red brand, while Cesaro is in for the blue. The referee signals for the bell, the bell rings and our first official match-up of the evening, champions vs. champions is officially underway!!
Cesaro wastes no time as the bell chimes he runs across the ring and lands a European Uppercut on Dawkins to start things off! Angelo gets the tag, double teams from the Raw champs, SmackDown boys on the floor, Ford with a tope con giro but they catch him and powerbomb him into the barricade to send us to break!
As we return from the commercial break, Ziggler states that Dawkins is “owning this match right now!” Dawkins gets Nakamura down to the mat and goes for the pin. Nakamura kicks out! Cesaro is in control on Ford, but the Raw champ fires up and posts him shoulder-first! Tags made, Dawkins comes in hot with lariats, duck one in return, big corkscrew elbow! Cesaro comes in and gets dropped, overhead exploder on Nakamura, only two! Sidestep the charge, kicks in the corner, Shinsuke follows them up with the sliding through-the-ropes German suplex!
Fired up, but Angelo hits the Sky High and makes the tag! Montez off the top… NAKAMURA GETS THE KNEES UP! Cesaro throws Dawkins out of the ring, Shinsuke with the cover… STILL NO! Cesaro back in, swinging Ford into the Kinshasa… ANGELO BREAKS IT UP! Choking him in the ropes, Nakamura with a kick, Montez with a schoolboy for two!
Cesaro pops him up with Swiss Death. Ford still kicks out! Dawkins sidesteps a charge on the floor and Nakamura goes knee-first into the steel steps! Cesaro draws Ford up, throws him into the corner and lights him up with strikes, laying him out with an uppercut! Arguing with referee Eddie Orengo, climbing up, deadlift superplex as Dawkins tags in. Cesaro hits the superplex on Ford, but Dawkins comes off the top rope with his own frog splash for the three count pin and win!!
Winners: The Street Profits
We get a hype reel for Mickie James.
Backstage – Angel Garza and Lana
Lana is upset that James got the title shot tonight when Natalya deserves it more. Zelina Vega and Andrade “Cien” Almas roll up and Vega berates Garza for leaving Almas hanging, and Angel says he’s tired of being blamed for every setback, because the golden boy lost the match last week.
Andrade gets in his face and asks him what happened, and they have a heated conversation in Spanish until Zelina breaks it up. She says she can’t do this any more and walks off, which leads the boys to get into a fight as we go to break.
Cedric Alexander vs. RicochetRicochet makes his way to the ring first as his music sounds in the arena. We head to commercial break as Ricochet enters the ring. Out next is Cedric Alexander accompanied by the other members of The Hurt Business. The referee signals for the bell, and this match up is officially underway! Ricochet with a double leg into grounded punches, Alexander out and in with strikes, whip across, Ricky hangs on the ropes and gets a back elbow before passing Cedric to the floor and slingshotting to the apron for a boot to the face and the kickflip moonsault! Apollo Crews attacks Shelton Benjamin but Bobby Lashley takes him out in turn.
Erik from the Viking Raiders makes the save and he and Lashley brawl off as we go to break.
Benjamin continues to bark in Alexander’s face. Uppercut by Ricochet as he gets fired up! Ricochet gets Alexander into a Bridge for the two count. Ricochet then heads up top, rolls through as Alexander moves out of the way. Alexander stacks Ricochet and hooks the legs, to no avail. Lumbar Check by Alexander for the three count pin and win!
Winner: Cedric Alexander
After the Match
Cedric Alexander celebrates with The Hurt Business following his victory over Ricochet. As the commentary team is announcing Alexander as the winner, suddenly the screens with the fans on them shut off. Then the lights drop to black.
Retribution Interrupts
The lights go out and we see Retribution members appear on the screens. The first member begins, “We are the product of empty promises. We once trusted, but now we walk with eyes wide open.” The second member continues on, “We see what you are. Waste, scrap, by product. When you sell your soul to a corrupt machine. YOU become corrupt. We once believed our time at the Performance Center, would lead us to fame and wealth. Unlike you, we refuse to suck up. So while you enjoy your last days of oblivion we prepare to show you exactly who we are while we got the reality. We… are retribution!”
Backstage Interview – Mickie James
Sarah Schrieber states as they try to control the “Retribution situation” she moves on with her interview alongside her guest, Mickie James. Sarah asks Mickie about her match tonight with Asuka, and what it is that “drives” her.
Mickie says she loves this business with every bit of her soul. She loves what it drives her to be. She loves what Asuka drives her to be. Right now, they say, with experience comes wisdom, and with wisdom comes clarity, and with this wisdom, I know I have what it takes to become WWE Women’s champion, but if you ask me what fuels me tonight… it’s knowing that tonight, could be my last chance… to win the RAW Championship.”
RAW Women’s Championship Match
Asuka vs. Mickie JamesWe return to the inside of the ThunderDome as Asuka’s music sounds in the arena. Asuka makes her way down the ramp with her mask on and she struts into the ring. Asuka climbs the ropes and removes her mask as she smiles out at the crowd, and we head to commercial break.
Backstage – Adam Pearce & WWE Officials
Adam Pearce is asking the other WWE officials why they can’t do their jobs. Suddenly the Hurt Business members walk up and address Mr. Pearce.
MVP begins, “Excuse me Mr. Pearce, the Hurt Business, wants to have a word with you. I understand that being a high level WWE Official comes with very high pressure. I also understand if you don’t find a solution to this, it could affect your job.”
“With all due respect, that’s none of your concern.” Pearce responds.
MVP continues on anyway, stating Pearce should upgrade his security from BOYS to MEN. The Hurt Business doesn’t run, and MVP isn’t concerned about their bats and masks. MVP continues on, “because I have… Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and Seldri…Cedric Alexander.” (oops! little flub on MVP’s part when knowing his teammate’s names!)
Pearce says, “You’re right, thanks for volunteering,” to which MVP and the rest of The Hurt Business begins to laugh. MVP says he doesn’t do charity, the keyword in Hurt Business is Business. They walk away, leaving Pearce standing with his security BOYS.

The two continue to go back and forth, Mickie with a quick roll up for a two count. Asuka locks in the Asuka Lock. Mickie somehow rolls through but the referee calls a hault to the match, giving the match to Asuka because Mickie couldn’t continue? Both look confused.

The title is held up, the ref calls for the bell and here we go! Lee wastes no time in burying his shoulder into the Champion’s gut, shoving him into the corner.
