Below are various WWE news & notes coming out of the last week with Crown Jewel: Perth as well as the recent releases:
- With two events (Smackdown, Crown Jewel) down, WWE is holding one more event in Australia with Monday’s Raw set to emanate from Perth as well. Despite three huge shows over the course of a few days, WWE chose not to bring the entire roster overseas.
- The AJ Styles vs. John Cena match was met with rave reviews and both wrestlers received a standing ovation when they returned to the backstage area after the match’s completion.
- WWE introduced Styles before his match by referencing him as the leader of the Bullet Club. According to reports and as seen by his reaction, Styles had no idea that that specific piece was coming during his intro. There is not expected to be any issues with WWE mentioning Bullet Club on air and in fact, they have done it before in the past.
- Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins was always planned as the main event of Crown Jewel from the get go.
- WWE has concluded their last round of releases which focused on developmental talent. When all was said and done, around a dozen wrestlers departed the company with some being cut outright, others not having their contracts renewed and some declining WWE’s offers. Despite the cuts, WWE will continue to focus on recruiting more talents to their developmental brands.
