— Below are various news and notes coming out of WWE’s SummerSlam premium live event:
- Fightfulselect.com reports that Jacob Fatu was always planned to sell a leg injury following his splash in the main event, however, it appears that he may have ended up legitimately hurt himself as alluded to by Triple H in the post-event press conference. Fatu was spotted in a walking boot after the show and into the morning today.
- During the Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk match, referee Seth Rollins’ “ref cam” fell off and Rollins ultimately made his own decision to abandon the camera after that. Fightfulselect.com reports that internally, officials figured this could happen and there was no heat on Rollins for ditching the cam. The cam was tested multiple times at both the Performance Center and is expected to be used again in the future.
- Roman Reigns’ return was kept under wraps throughout the show and he was hidden until it was time for him to make his return.
- There was some backstage chatter about Shane McMahon meeting up with Tony Khan and the belief among many is that Shane will likely end up making at least one appearance with AEW.
- Rhea Ripley’s shoulder injury spots were planned beforehand, however, Logan Paul’s landing off LA Knight’s superplex was not. Paul ended up banged up but is said to be okay following the spot.
