LA Knight was initially set to make an appearance on this week’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown.
However, it appears that “The Mega Star” tested positive for COVID-19 before the show, leading to his early dismissal.
Due to Knight’s late removal from the lineup, PWInsider.com reports that several significant last-minute changes had to be made to the original script for the show.
Reportedly, Knight was slated to be part of the final segment of the show. However, with his absence due to COVID-19, WWE altered the segment to feature Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa assaulting John Cena, ultimately leaving him downed to conclude the program.
The initial plan was for LA Knight to intervene and align with Cena, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.
Furthermore, WWE had initially scheduled LA Knight and John Cena to face The Street Profits in a post-show dark match main event for the fans in Glendale, Arizona.
