WWE News: New Wyatt Family’s Debut Date; Non-Compete Clauses Clarification

WWE News

— In last week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was reported that the QR codes for the latest iteration of the Wyatt Family is likely to lead to the group showing up at the King and Queen of the Ring premium live event in Saudi Arabia on May 25.

— Erick Rowan, who is returning to WWE after signing a new contract, who is set to return full-time from a neck injury, along with Bray Wyatt’s brother Bo Dallas are rumored to be the main members of the stable. They are to be joined by Nikki Cross, Dexter Lumis, and Joe Gacy with Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss also possible.

— A major news story that broke last month had the FTC vote in favor eliminating non-competing clauses, a stipulation included in contracts that is highly prevalent within the wrestling industry and a clause that WWE has been using for decades. Most released wrestler are let go with 90-day non-competes and it was speculated that after the vote, WWE would be unable to continue in this manner.

— In speaking with a source within WWE, it was stated that this decision wouldn’t apply to the company because released wrestlers are paid for 90 days that they are unable to compete elsewhere; they are sitting at home without pay and unable to sign or appear elsewhere. The only exception would be non-wrestlers or executives who are often given longer than 3-month non-compete clauses and moving forward, companies would not be able to enforce those.

Braun Strowman had this to say about resurrecting the Wyatt Family:

“Life circumstances that happened with Bray, I have something to prove when I come back. I have to keep our legacy as the Wyatt Family alive, and unfortunately, it’s not gonna be good for everybody because The Monster’s coming back.”
