— In a surprise development, The Rock announced yesterday that he will be on tonight’s WWE Friday Night Smackdown while also hinting at what his involvement will be. Suffice to say, his insertion into the episode was a last minute move as WWE has already deleted Smackdown GM Nick Aldis’ announcement video while fightfulselect.com reports that several matches had to be “reworked” with the Rock now booked on the show.

— In his Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer wrote that the Rock’s status for WrestleMania 41 in terms of whether he will wrestle or not will likely be decided tonight. Meltzer noted that last year, The Rock needed approximately nine weeks of training to prepare for stepping back into the ring and as of this week, WrestleMania 41 is in fact, nine weeks away. Based on that math, it would be seem to suggest that a decision will need to be made imminently.
