WWE NXT News & Notes: Double Tapings, Gallus Getting Called Up, Erick Rowan Training, more

— Below are news and notes coming out of the double NXT tapings last night. The brand aired a live episode yesterday and taped matches for next week’s show (5/21) due to the team being in Saudi Arabia for next week’s King and Queen of the Ring PLE. The notes were originally compiled by Corey Brennan of fightfulselect.com

  • Creative plans for the double tapings reportedly were changed throughout the day. The rundown of matches and segments wasn’t finalized until 6pm – just one hour before the taping began.
  • For those wondering why next week’s NXT show is pre-taped, the reason is that WWE’s production crew, staff and officials are headed to Saudi Arabia for the King & Queen of the Ring premium live event. NXT production crew that aren’t going to Saudi Arabia will be on call for the 5/27 episode of WWE Raw in case they are needed.
  • Gallus continues to be heavily discussed as a group that is headed to the main roster both before and during the recently completed draft. Officials are high on them and the expectation is that they will be main roster bound in the coming months.
  • Je’Von Evans also continues to be held in “high esteem” by NXT officials.
  • As noted before, Erick Rowan was indeed at the WWE Performance Center undergoing a physical and training ahead of his return to the main roster. He is slated to be a part of the new Wyatt Family stable.
  • Pete Dunne and Shawn Spears both produced matches during last night’s tapings.
  • Security was telling fans in attendance that they were only allowed to take still photos of the show while Level Up announcer Blake Howard told the audience in between shows to refrain from spoiling the program for others.
