WWE NXT RESULTS (04/20/2021)

Pre-Show: WWE NXT

Prior to the start of the Tuesday, April 20th, 2021 edition of WWE NXT’s opening, an all new introduction video and song replace Slipknot with Poppy’s song as the new opening video package airs for WWE NXT on the USA Network! As the video ends, we head into the WWE Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida to officially kick off tonight’s show which airs on the all-new TUESDAY nights!

Show Opening

We kick off the Tuesday, April 20th, 2021 edition of WWE NXT as we head into the WWE Capitol Wrestling Center located in Orlando, Florida for the opening of tonight’s show as the commentary team of Vic Joseph (who reminds us that this is the new NXT on Tuesday nights), WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, and last but not least, Wade Barrett all welcome us to tonight’s edition of NXT on the USA Network

In-Ring – Kyle O’Reilly Makes His Return To NXT!

The first segment of the evening starts off as the entrance theme for former-Undisputed Era member Kyle O’Reilly sounds over the speakers of the WWE Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida. The crowd pops as O’Reilly steps up to the center of the stage before making his way down the ramp and entering the ring for his return to WWE NXT, his first time on the show since his Unsanctioned Match with Adam Cole. As Kyle O’Reilly steps into the squared circle in the WWE Capitol Wrestling Center, we see O’Reilly sporting some kickass sunglasses, a wicker hat and he says he’s feeling great because he has put Adam Cole behind him.

O’Reilly then continues on to state that he has always believed that hard work speaks for itself and it’s time for him to move on. So what’s next? Well he’s learned that, to succeed in NXT, you need the killer instinct. Willing to do anything, endure anything, to achieve your goals. O’Reilly then states very matter-of-factly that he has found that instinct. At this point O’Reilly questions whether he should challenge for the Workhorse Title or perhaps the North American Championship? O’Reilly then asks if maybe he should take his newly found
“killer instinct” and use it to hunt the most dominant force NXT has seen… NXT Champion Karrion Kross.

Cameron Grimes Interrupts Kyle O’Reilly In-Ring

Suddenly we hear the entrance theme for Cameron Grimes sound over the speakers in the WWE Capitol Wrestling Center as Grimey himself makes his way to the stage, looking down the ramp to Kyle O’Reilly who is still standing inside the ring. Grimes then makes his way down the ramp to a mixed reaction from the NXT Universe.

As Grimes enters the ring to look O’Reilly face to face inside the ring, O’Reilly looking slightly angered but more confused as he waits to see what Grimes has to say for himself, hoping he has a good explanation for interrupting the him. To start the conversation, Grimey congratulates Kyle and says he can obviously stand and deliver. Grimes then continues on to inform O’Reilly that he’s made a LOT of money betting on O’Reilly using Draft Kings. At this point, Grimes continues on to state that he believes if O’Reilly had his backing he could be “a true star”.

Grimes goes on to state that he and O’Reilly could take some of O’Reilly’s “best moments” and turn them into NFT’s. Together they could… wait for it… go to the moon! During Grimes sell/speech, Kyle O’Reilly continuously made awkward facial expressions as well as silly voices. O’Reilly then informs Grimes that he “loves” the idea… and he genuinely thanks Grimes for the tip on Doge coin. O’Reilly then adds in a passing statement that he just so happened to be medically cleared to compete… O’Reilly then follows that statement by punching Grimes directly in the face. Kyle then rocks some pretty cool dance moves to end his segment in the ring.

“Earlier Today” Sarray’s Arrival To The Capitol Wrestling Center

As the opening in-ring segment with former Undisputed-Era member Kyle O’Reilly comes to an end, we then hear from the commentary team of Vic Joseph, Beth Phoenix, and Wade Barrett who discuss the Kyle O’Reilly and Cameron Grimes exchange that just took place.

We are then sent into a video clip from “Earlier Today” where the newest NXT signee, Sarray, is seen arriving at the WWE Capitol Wrestling Center arena earlier today (TUESDAY, April 20, 2021). As Sarray made her way into the building, the current WWE General Manager William Regal was informed of the arrival and proceeded to make his way out to officially welcome her, as well as Zoey Stark who came out to greet her as well.

Sarray doesn’t get an opportunity to process the official welcomes before Stark quickly follows things up by asking her for a one-on-one NXT Women’s Non-Title Match for tonight’s Tuesday, April 20th edition of WWE NXT on the USA Network! Without skipping a beat or showing any bit of hesitation, Sarray agrees to the match.

Backstage – LA Knight

Back to current time, we next head backstage where we come across L.A. Knight who is walking the halls as he states he was the “star” of Stand & Deliver. Knight continues on and states that he was “so much the star” that the other NXT competitors had to join forces to team-up against Knight to take him out.

Knight then finishes by stating “what goes around comes around” and then states that tonight, he will begin to get revenge on the opponents one by one. Tonight he plans to start his revenge plan by focusing his attention on Dexter Lumis. “That’s just a fact of life…” Knight finishes as we head to the commercial break!

Video Clip – Dexter Lumis Kidnapped

As we return from the commercial break, we are immediately sent into a video clip that shows Dexter Lumis kidnapping a very willing Indi Hartwell who has the most severe case of Stockholm Syndrome I’ve ever seen!

Dexter Lumis vs. L.A. Knight

Dexter Lumis made his way to the ring during the video clip from last week’s edition of NXT that aired as we returned from the commercial break. L.A. Knight had already made his way to the ring during the commercial break. With both competitors inside the ring, the referee moves to the center of the ring and proceeds to signal for the bell. The bell chimes and the match is officially underway! To start the action in tonight’s match up, Knight begins to talk smack to Lumis who just stands and takes it until finally the two meet in the center of the ring for a lock-up!

Lumis and Knight go back and forth in the struggle for control of the match until Knight attempts a cheap-shot on Lumis who somehow anticipated Knight’s attempt and Lumis ducks under it as the match continues on. A frustrated Knight then attempts a different takedown move as he lands a Shoulder Tackle to take Lumis down to the canvas. Knight quickly follows up with a pin attempt. looks for a pin but Lumis kicks him off and hits a forearm. Knight kicks Lumis as he looks for a back body drop, but Dexter fires right back with a lariat. Knight shoves Lumis and hits a big boot, then looks to get on top of him but Dexter grabs him with The Silence. Knight scrambles away and rolls from the ring.

Knight gets on the apron and snaps Lumis’ head on the top rope, then hits a Flying Shoulder Tackle over the ropes and taunts the crowd. Knight hits the ropes but Lumis catches him with a back body drop, then drops down to stalk him. Knight slides backwards and away from Lumis but ends up crotching himself on the ring post… umm, ouch? Lumis follows Knight around the ring where he proceeds to land Strikes to Knight on the outside of the ring. Lumis goes for a Splash onto Knight who is in the corner of the ring, to no avail as Knight counters, hitting a Neck Breaker to take Lumis out as we once again head to commercial break!

The match begins with Lorcan forcing Kushida to the corner before releasing. Kushida catches a kick and takes Lorcan down with a kneebar but Oney rolls it over and takes a front face-lock. Lorcan transitions to a wristlock, then a head-scissors. Kushida reverses with a surfboard stretch but Lorcan flips over and lands on him for a one-count.

They continue mat wrestling with some impressive holds and reversals. Lorcan takes a headlock but Kushida shoves him to the ropes and gets taken down with an armbar. Lorcan reaches the ropes to force the break. Kushida knocks Lorcan over the ropes to the floor as we head to the break.

Lorcan goes to an abdominal stretch but Kushida elbows the arm to break free. Lorcan hits a running elbow in the corner, then looks for another but Kushida hits an uppercut to intercept him. Kushida hits another uppercut in the corner, then a flurry of strikes.

Kushida goes to the top rope and hits a double knee to the elbow of Lorcan. Kushida wants an armbar but Loran fights him off, then hits a charging European uppercut followed by a blockbuster for a near-fall. Oney lands some massive chops to the chest of Kushida, who seems to get more fired-up. Kushida hits a hip-toss and a dropkick, then gets the Hoverboard Lock and Lorcan taps.

Santos Escobar comes out after the match but Kushida gets attacked from behind by Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza. Fantasma beat Kushida out of the ring and against the announce desk until MSK come running down to even the odds. Kushida and MSK clear the ring and stand tall.

Backstage Promo – Mercedes Martinez

Mercedes Martinez cuts a promo backstage, singling out Dakota Kai for being in control of Raquel Gonzalez. She says she’ll do Raquel a favour and take Dakota out, then nothing will stop her from taking the Women’s Championship. We head to commercial break!

Backstage – The Way

Gargano and Theory are sitting backstage arguing when Candace walks in looking beat-up. Indi walks in as well and brags about haing made eye contact with Lumis, but then says she talked to William Regal and got them a title shot.

Ever-Rise vs. Imperium

We start the match with Aichner attacking Martel and beating him in the corner. Parker tags in but they double-team him as well and knock Martel off the apron. Killian Dain comes down and Alexander Wolfe gets in his face at ringside. Parker rolls-up Aichner for a near-fall, meanwhile Drake Maverick runs down and tries to attack Wolfe but Dain holds him off. Imperium hit an electric chair/flying clothesline for the win.

Backstage – Kyle O’Reilly

Kyle O’Reilly is walking backstage when he sees Karrion Kross and Scarlett. O’Reilly stops and stares at them before making his way to the ring for the main event. We head to commercial break once again.

Kyle O’Reilly vs. Cameron Grimes

The match gets underway and O’Reilly takes the wrist of Grimes but Cameron wriggles free and takes him down by the ankle. Kyle escapes and switches to a Kimura but Grimes fights up, only for O’Reilly to take him down with a rear chin-lock. They continue trading back and forth with submissions and reversals until Grimes hits the ropes an O’Reilly drops down and trips him. Kyle goes back to the wrist but Grimes fights up and lands a European uppercut but O’Reilly comes back with a flying knee.

O’Reilly hits a cocky slap to the face, then starts kicking Cameron around the ring. Grimes fires back with chops to the chest and looks for a sunset flip but O’Reilly grabs the arm and looks for an armbar. Grimes rolls over to the ropes to force the break. O’Reilly takes the leg and Grimes kicks him of, then flips over and German Suplexes O’Reilly out of the ring! We head to commercial break.

Grimes is in control of the match when we return from the break. Grimes puts O’Reilly down in the corner and chokes him with a boot, then whips him chest-first into the opposite buckles. Grimes applies a rear chin-lock with a knee in Kyle’s back. O’Reilly rallies and lands some big kicks and knees, then sweeps him off his feet. O’Reilly hits a running forearm in the corner, snaps the arm, then hits a sit-out back suplex into a kneebar. Grimes reaches the ropes to force the break, then O’Reilly kicks the leg out from under him.

Kyle grabs a guillotine and chokes Grimes, then let’s go and kicks him in the chest. Grimes counters and hits a spinning sidewalk slam for a two-count. Grimes lifts O’Reilly, who rolls down and attempts another kneebar but Grimes sits down for a near-fall. O’Reilly hits a pop-up knee, then looks for a slingshot clothesline but Grimes catches him with a spinning crossbody for a near-fall.
