WWE NXT Results (10/14/2020)
Show Opening
Undisputed ERA are here, and Kyle O’Reilly has a mic. People think the ERA is done, but while Adam Cole is still out, he’ll be cleared next week. They didn’t get a chance to get revenge on Ridge Holland, but if they had got their hands on him, he’d be in the same hospital bed he is now. The second coming of the Golden Prophecy starts now.
Roderick Strong & Bobby Fish vs. Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch
Roddy and Oney start, and Lorcan gets the better in the early going. He controls him with long enough to bring in Burch, who Strong eventually backs into his own corner to bring in Fish. They trade strikes, but Bobby misses a slingshot senton and he ends up isolated in the wrong corner. The Brit-Am Brawlers work him over, but he eventually gets to Strong. The ERA boys look to double team Oney, but he chops his way free… until he takes a back drop as we go picture-in-picture.
Back from commercial break, Bobby Fish tags in Roderick Strong! Lorcan tries to fight out of Strong’s hold. Fish to the top rope, Lorcan side steps! Powebomb in the center of the ring, kick out by Roderick Strong! Fish with a Samoan Drop and the cover on Burch. Burch kicks out of a pin attempt. Now it’s 2 on 1 as Undisputed Era double teams Burch inside the ring! Double Dropkick off the middle turnbuckle. Lorcan tags in! Lorcan takes down both members of Undisputed Era before tagging in Burch. Crossface on Strong, Burch kicks out of a pin attempt on the other side of the ring! Burch turns Strong inside out! Burch tags in Lorcan, Lorcan goes for the cover and Fish drags Lorcan off of Strong just in time. Lorcan is taken out. Strong gets the cover for the three count pin and win!
Winner and #1 Contenders: Undisputed Era members Roderick Strong & Bobby Fish
After the Match
Undisputed Era points at Breezango as they watch on from the side of the ring.
Backstage Announcement
McKenzie Mitchell is backstage with an update on Finn Balor and the NXT Championship. We see still pictures of Finn Balor with a broken jaw, who had to undergo surgery this past weekend after his match at TakeOver 31 against Kyle O’Reilly. Mr. Regal is going to give it a few weeks before they decide what to do with the NXT Championship.
Quick Announcement
Ember Moon speaks after her return at NXT TakeOver 31. We head to commercial break.
Video Clip – Ember Moon Discusses Her Return
As we return from commercial break, we head into a video where Ember starts off by stating that 2019 was a terrible year for Ember Moon as she nearly tore her achilles tendon in half, which took her into a long recovery. Ember Moon discusses her return to NXT after her doctors told her she was cleared for fighting, all she heard was “Ember, you are NXT.” Moon explains that she was supposed to be drafted to Raw or Smackdown, but she removed herself from that equation so she could come home to NXT. During her narration, we get clips of her return.
Ember then notes that when she left NXT, she left on top–but that was then and now it’s her time again. Moon adds you don’t get a title shot based on who you know and what you’ve done in the past, it’s what you do recently. Moon notes her stare down with Io Shirai, and says she knows she has to beat several women before making it to Io Shirai, but she will get there to win the title. Moon finishes by stating that all roads lead to NXT and “Ember’s Law” says she’ll get the title back.
Ashante Adonis vs Jake Atlas
As we head back into the arena, Ashante Adonis comes out first, posing with shades on as Vic Joseph tells us that he’s a talented young man. Out next is Jake Atlas, whom Beth Phoenix praises for his power and luchalibre style. The bell rings and here we go! Ashante to the top rope, landed a drop onto Atlas for a 2 count pin attempt. Both back to their feet, Atlas with a new aggression as he brings on a “slug-fest” with Adonis. Mendoza makes his way out. An Inside Craddle gets shoulders down for a three count pin and win! That was a quick one!!
Winner: Ashante Adonis
After the Match
Legado attack Ashante outside the ring, beating on him. Atlas takes notice, runs to the opposite side of the ring, rebounds off the ropes and hits a textbook suicide dive. Santos Escobar joins the Legado as they gang up three to two on the now-allied Ashante and Atlas. Suddenly, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott shows up to even the odds! The Legado trio stare at the three newly-allied men in the ring and nod.
Backstage – Johnny Gargano & Candice LeRae
We head backstage once again where Johnny Gargano is standing with wife, Candice LeRae and they inform us that Candice is the true NXT women’s champion. They both are upset and feel their losses at TakeOver weren’t their faults and they should both be champions right now as it is “their destiny” to be champs together. Gargano is asked if he’s looking past Austin Theory, and Johnny and Candice exit. We’re told the Gargano/Theory match is next after this commercial break!
Johnny Gargano vs. Austin Theory
As we return from the commercial break, Austin Theory is already awaiting his opponent in the ring, posing in the corner of the ring. Out next is Johnny Gargano as his entrance theme sounds inside the arena. Gargano struts to the ring slowly, finally entering with Theory. The ref calls for the bell and this match is officially under way.
Gargano with an immediate take down on Theory followed by a Headlock. Theory back to his feet. Gargano takes Theory back down to the mat and locks in an arm hold. Theory attempts to escape, rising to his feet, but Gargano keeps the arm locked and goes for a shoulder breaker. Theory escapes and both men grapple, with the end result being Theory back down on the mat. Gargano goes for the Gargano-lock but Theory squirms to the ropes fast. Ref breaks the hold.
Johnny Gargano continues to keep control of Austin Theory early on in this match. Gargano using his speed advantage, looking for the Gargano Escape, Theory navigates his way to the bottom rope! Standing Moonsault and a hook of the leg, Gargano is able to get the shoulder up this time! Gargano takes advantage of Theory’s stall to gloat inside the ring. Gargano goes for a Springboard move but Theory knocks him down. Theory trash-talks Gargano inside the ring. Strikes thrown back and forth until Theory goes for the ATL, but Gargano escapes to the apron. Gargano hits a Spear through the middle ropes, nailing Theory and sending him into the barricade as we head to a commercial break.
We return from commercial break and commentary notes that Gargano is here to teach Theory a lesson tonight! Gargano has been yelling non-stop “You are going to learn!” Gargano looks at Theory, Theory catches Gargano with a Superkick using Gargano’s own trick! Gargano gets his left shoulder up just in time! Another Superkick! Johnny’s stretching Theory when we return. He presses his advantage, but charges right into a side slam counter. Slingshot stomp in the corner is followed with an immediate suplex, and Gargano is hurting. Back-and-forth until Johnny rolls into a superkick, then another suplex gets two for Theory. Johnny knees free from a fireman’s carry, then he climbs but All Day catches his crossbody. Theory gets a roll-up for two out of the ensuing scramble. He takes too much time following up, though. Exchange of forearms in the middle of the ring. Gargano catches a kick and spins Theory into one of his own. He snake eyes him right into the middle turnbuckle. One Final Beat ends it.
Winner Johnny Gargano
After the Match
The referee holds Johnny Gargano’s hand up high in victory. Gargano exits the ring, then stops as he scratches his chin, looking back at Theory, then returns up the ramp.
Backstage – Raquel Gonzalez
We head backstage where Raquel Gonzalez states Halloween Havoc is in two weeks, where she is going to destroy Rhea Ripley. Just then, Ripley walks up from a distance as Gonzalez says, “We don’t have to wait two weeks!” The two begin at each other as several NXT officials jump in and try to separate them as we go to break. Up next: Shotzi vs Candice! We head to commercial break!
Candice LeRae vs. Shotzi Blackheart
Out first on her mini tank, is the tiny rebel herself, Shotzi Blackheart with a howl. Out next is Candice LeRae, Phoenix tells us that this is a Hail Mary play for LeRae and she doesn’t see Candice letting this slip through her fingers. Vic reminds us that the Garganos feel they have a destiny to become the first husband-wife champions team. Referee signals for the bell, the bell rings and the match begins! Neckbreaker Block by Blackheart early on. Shotzi then takes out LeRae! Shotzi goes for the cover, LeRae kicks out at two! Candice LeRae gets a cover on Blackheart for a two count of her own! LeRae gets another pin attempt, Blackheart able to get her shoulder up at the two count. A “Let’s Go Shotzi” chant breaks out in the crowd!
Suplex gets Candice another nearfall. She drags Blackheart’s face along the rope, biels her across the ring, and puts a boot to her in the corner. Shotzi finally blocks a suplex and hits one of her own. The end up on the apron where Blackheart hits a kick, but then gets sent face first into the ringpost. LeRae bulldogs her on the hardest part of the ring as we go to commercial.
Shotzi dodges something in the corner as soon as we return to begin her comeback., ending with a question mark kick and the senton in the ropes for two. She climbs for a senton of the top… right into Candice’s knees! One, two, no! LeRae can’t believe and climbs herself, but Blackheart catches up to her. Mrs. Gargano slips through her leg and hits a suplex. Another superkick leads to another kickout. Candice stomps, but Shotzi gets free for a bridging suplex, but she can’t get LeRae’s shoulders down for three. Backstabber from the Poison Pixie, followed by a springboard moonsault for another two count. Shotzi with an innovative crucifix submission, but Candice gets her foot under the ropes. Big kick knocks LeRae down, but she catches Blackheart before she can get to the top rope. Battle ends
Indi Hartwell is in the crowd, and she slips Candice a pair of brass knucks. She blasts Shotzi with it and earns another shot at the champ.
Winner and #1 Contender: Candice LeRae
Video Clip – “Earlier Today” with Drake Maverick and Killian Dane
We head into a video clip from earlier today where we see Drake Maverick and Killian Dain in an office. Maverick reveals he’s hired a marketing company, and is pitching Dain on their ideas. The main one is “The Furry and the Fury” as a team name (Drake is the Fury). The Irishman wants nothing to do with any of them, and he’s not much more interested in the match with Imperium his partner set up for tonight. We head to commercial break.
In Ring – The Robert Stone Brand
We return from commercial break and inside the ring is Robert Stone who apparently has something to say as he has a mic in hand. There’s a lot of talent coming into WWE, and none of them seem to want to do business with Suit Man Stone. That’s okay, because their loss is someone else’s gain. With that, Toni Storm’s music hits the speakers inside the arena.
Toni Storm vs. Aliyah
Toni Storm makes her way down the ramp and enters the ring quickly, she’s clearly ready for action! The bell rings and Toni immediately heads in at Aliyah wasting no time getting this match underway! Storm remains in control early on until a slip as she misses a charge which allows Aliyah to get a roll-up. Storm still able to kick out and the match continues. She follows with punches in the other corner and a Neck-breaker for two. Kick to the mid-section, but Toni back with an Atomic Drop. That’s followed by a German, then Storm Zero to finish the match off. Quick and easy.
Winner: Toni Storm
Backstage – Mr. William Regal
Mr. Regal is with McKenzie after that. He’s not happy about how Candice won the #1 contender’s match, but the referee’s decision is final. He is considering adding something to LeRae vs. Shirai. He also confirms Ripley/Gonzalez. Xia Li and Boa approach, and Li implores him for a match next week. He says he’ll think about it, and seems annoyed when she continues to press him. The GM excuses himself as we go to break.
Imperium (Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel) vs. Killian Dain & Drake Maverick
Out first is Imperium as we return from commercial break. Aichner and Barthel make their way to the ring and finish their entrance. We get a new entrance theme and graphic as Dain and Maverick make their way out. Killian Dain was clearly not in on the plans for this and yells for them to cut the music. Dain and Maverick discuss who wants to come in first. Finally, Dain starts things off with Fabian Aichner at the bell.
Aichner attempts a Rear Waist Lock but can’t get Dain up. As Dain lands Aichner on the canvas, he slaps Maverick’s chest as a “tag-in” to which Dain immediately grabs Maverick and slams him onto Aichner. Maverick looks to take advantage and attempts a pin but gets nothing. Dain is forced from the ring. Maverick lands a kick that lands Aichner on the mat. Maverick turns to Dain proud of his accomplishment and looking for accolades. Progress is short-lived as Aichner takes control, grounding Maverick and wearing him down.
Aichner drags Maverick to Imperium’s corner and delivers a boot to the throat of Maverick before Aichner tags in Marcel Barthel. Marcel goes over to Dain and talks smack then tries to come in and attack Maverick, who counters. Drake crawls across the ring towards his corner. Aichner comes in and dives but overshoots, and Maverick makes the tag! Dain comes in and brawls with both Aichner and Barthel! Dain controls the ring. Barthel sneaks around behind and takes out Dain on the apron. Drake with a Crossbody caught by Aichner, and he’s soon done in by the European Bomb for the three count.
Winner: Imperium
After the Match
Ever-Rise are here, and start slapping Drake in the corner. They chase him to the outside, and here comes Dain! Clotheslines for both! He tells Maverick that no one hits Drake but him! The duo head out, and we hear the whistling theme!
Main Event: NXT North American Championship Match
Dexter Lumis vs. Damian PriestDexter Lumis is inside the ring as he awaits his opponent for tonight’s Main Event match-up! Out next is the NXT North American Champion, Damian Priest! After the standard early standoff, the champ is impressed while the challenger remains stone-faced. They end up in the corner where Priest goes old school and controls the arm. Lumis gets free in the corner and leaps over a charge. Priest tells him to bring it, and Dexter does with a Thesz Press and ground and pound. Back up, the Archer of Infamy with a flurry of punches and a kick that ground Lumis. He gets back to his feet, but quickly takes a Broken Arrow for two. He rolls out as we go small screen.
Back from commercial break and Lumis charges in and is caught by the champion. Priest looks for South of Heaven, a counter with a Spine-buster for the cover, Priest kicks out at two! Priest fights free as he was dangerously close to being taken down to the mat. A Roundhouse Kick followed by the Flatliner for the 2-count! Priest then twerks and bends the ankle of Lumis who is stretching and reaching for the ropes. Priest drags Lumis back to the center of the ring and gets back to the ankle lock! Lumis shakes his head “no!” Lumis flips over and kicks free sending Priest into the ropes.
Another kick connects from Priest. Priest hoists up Lumis, Lumis counters with a Belly to Back and a drop for the two count on Priest who just gets his shoulder up! Lumis finally gets a hold of Priest, Priest ale to reach the ropes. Lumis crawls out of the ring to meet Priest who is catching his breath. Lumis rolls Priest back in. Damian Grimes attacks Lumis who is now staggering in the ring. Priest connects with South of Heaven for the cover and the three count pin and win!
Winner and STILL North American Champion: Damian Priest
After the Match
Grimes is laying flat next to the ring giving a thumbs up with a big smile and his tongue out as Priest stands tall with his championship belt inside the ring! Priest exits the ring. Grimes climbs in and trash talks Lumis. Priest returns with Final Reckoning to Grimes, then exits once again, leaving the “stay out of my business” message to Grimes.
Johnny Gargano Sneak Attack
Priest tells the camera to follow him as Priest goes to finish his exit in style, when Johnny Gargano hits Priest with a steel chair in the back. Then again. Candice LeRae and Johnny Gargano stand tall over Priest’s body.
General Manager William Regal Joins
That is until General Manager William Regal walks up behind Gargano and LeRae as he states they must feel proud, then adds, “At Halloween Havoc, you will face Io Shirai, Candice.” Regal turns to Gargano and adds, “And you Johnny Gargano, are going to face Damian Priest but the stakes are higher. Don’t just take it from me, take it from the host of Halloween Havoc.”
Shotzi Blackheart Appears On Opposing Stage
Shotzi appears stating each word as a sentence of it’s own, “Both. of. your. matches. will. be. determined. with. spin. the. wheel. make. a. deal…” ending with an over dramatized “hahahahahahaha.” Then, with a howl… that’s the show! Candice LeRae and Johnny are outraged as the crowd chants, “NXT! NXT!” and the show fades to black!
