Welcome to EWrestling’s live NXT Results and coverage as WWE’s black-and-gold brand returns this week at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida for the August 19th, 2020 edition of NXT On USA.
A massive night is in store on the black-and-gold brand! As EWrestling’s own Matt Boone’s preview announced earlier today: It’s the final stop before NXT TakeOver XXX! Adam Cole and Pat McAfee will meet face-to-face just days ahead of their highly anticipated showdown, the final two spots in the North American Title Ladder Match will be decided with matches between Finn Bálor and Velveteen Dream and Johnny Gargano and Ridge Holland, plus Isaiah “Swerve” Scott teams with Breezango to face Legado del Fantasma in Six-Man Tag action, and more! Catch it all tonight on USA Network at 8/7 C!

WWE NXT RESULTS (8/19/2020): Winter Park, FL.
Show Opening
WWE Forever plays as we head into the August 12, 2020 edition of WWE NXT on the USA Network as 8:00 p.m. hits. Mauro Ranallo and Beth Phoenix on commentary for tonight’s edition of NXT. Alongside Ranallo and Phoenix is Vic Joseph, who exclaims he is excited to be on commentary tonight.
This Saturday streaming live, NXT TakeOver XXX is announced to open the show.
Johnny Gargano vs. Ridge Holland
Johnny Gargano w/ Candice LeRae are announced to the ring, Johnny stops at the bottom of the ramp and points up to the belt hanging above his head before climbing the steel stairs and entering the ring.
Gargano enters the ring and circles as his entrance theme continues playing. Out next is Ridge Holland wearing a trench-coat over his ring gear as he makes his way down the ramp, entering the ring with opponent, Gargano. The referee signals for the bell, the bell rings and our first match of the evening begins!
“Welcome to the big leagues Ridge, you don’t belong in the same ring with me!” Ridge slams Johnny with a Face Buster right off the bat. Slamming Johnny into the corner followed by a Hip Toss and a Shoulder Tackle that sends Johnny to ringside. Ridge follows Johnny out of the ring.
Johnny re-enters the ring, then dives with a Crossbody over the top rope, Ridge catches Johnny mid-air. The match heads back inside the ring, Johnny twisting the arm of Ridge who counters and drops Johnny back to the mat. A Strike to the back of Johnny as the crowd hypes up. Ridge babying his left hand/arm.
Johnny struggles to stay on his feet, laid out on the apron, Ridge drags him back into the ring. Johnny with an Elbow Strike followed by a Knee Strike. Ridge with Strikes to the back of Johnny. Johnny attempts to lock in a submission, Heel Strikes for the release by Ridge. Ridge runs at Johnny, nobody home! Tope’ over the top rope to take out Ridge on the outside. Both men struggling to their feet as we head to out first commercial break!
A Dropkick to Holland by Gargano as we return from commercial break! ferocious forearm and a cover by Holland, Gargano kicks out at two! Holland explodes into Gargano who rolls to ringside as the count begins. Candice LeRae checks on her husband. The referee tells Candice LeRae to back up, LeRae argues, “I’m allowed to check on my husband!” Gargano’s entire face crashes on the apron. Candice grabs the leg of Ridge, not allowing him back in. Gargano flies over the top rope with a One Final Beat for the win!
Winner: Johnny Gargano
After the Match
Candice LeRae helps her husband, Johnny Gargano, back to his feet to celebrate his victory that will send him to TakeOver XXX!

Dakota Kai in action when we return from commercial break!
Dakota Kai vs. Jessi Kamea
Out first as we return from commercial break is Dakota Kai! Kai makes her way down the ramp and enters the ring. Jessi Kamea is out next, entering the ring with her opponent, Kai. The referee signals for the bell and the second match of the evening is underway! Kai immediately heads in, dropping Kamea to the mat! Backpress cover by Kai early on, Kamea kicks out at two.
Kai with a viscous assault, taking advantage of the five count as she shoves Kamea’s neck into the middle rope. Kai Kick followed up with a Face-wash by Kai for another two count! Kai maintains control, looking for the submission victory with the Straight Jacket. Kai misses with a Kick. Kamea with a kick of her own! Looking to reverse things, Kamea now in control.
Dakota Kai lands a quick High Kick to the face of Kamea for the three count pin and win!
Winner: Dakota Kai
After the Match
Kai grabs a mic and begins to speak with her strong Aussie accent, “You must be out of your mind! Everything you said about me, just proves my point even more. YOu think I’m afraid of you? Don’t make me laugh. YOu are focused on the people of my past. I am focused on the future of my NXT win. I’m goinbg to hit you over, and over, and over…”
Io Shirai Enters
Having heard enough, Io Shirai’s music sounds, Kai welcomes Shirai to the ring. Suddenly Raquel Gonzalez walks out from behind a pillar and a massive boot to the face of Io Shirai by the ramp. Gonzalez dumps Shirai back into the ring as the crowd boos. Io back to her feet and with a Strike knocks Kai back to the canvas. Gonzalez lifts Shirai and slams her to the mat. Gonzalez grabs Kai’s hand lifting it in victory with a shrug and a smile!
Backstage – Tegan Nox
McKenzie Mitchell talks to Tegan Nox about what Candice said about her last week. Nox is asked about her feelings on LeRae’s comments, “it took me by surprise, it hurt.” Nox said she is ready to settle it over a glass of wine, stating, “I’m ready to talk.” We head to commercial break.
6 Man Tag-Team Match
Legado Del Fantasma vs. Isaiah “Swerve” Scott & BreezangoWe return from commercial break to Legado Del Fantasma members Santos Escobar, Raul Mendoza, and Koaquin Wilde making their way down the ramp towards the ring. Out next are Tyler Breeze and Fandango to make up tag-team “Breezango”! Finally, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott makes his way to the ring. The three fist bump and make their way under the ropes into the ring! The referee signals for the bell, and this six man tag-match is offically underway!!
All six men immediately head into the ring for an all out brawl! Escobar and Scott fight to the outside. Tyler Breeze takes on Wilde. Finally they spill out to hte ring, leaving Fandango and Mendoza in the ring. Mauro admits we don’t know who the legal men are, so we’re assuming its them. Fandango delivers an elbow to the corner. Fandango thrusts in the corner but Mendoza dodges and Fandango hits his already-injured left shoulder against the ring post. Mendoza takes Fandango to the Legado corner.
Wilde is tagged in and attempts to fly but Fandango dodges. Fandango takes Wilde to the faces corner and double teams with Tyler Breeze. Fandango back in. Things quickly spill out of control–Mendoza and Wilde eat a pair of superkicks from Breezango and when Escobar goes for a suicide dive, he eats a leaping kick from Swerve on the apron! The ref has no control over this, we have no clue who’s legal so it’s the perfect time for a commercial break!
As we return from commercial break, Dango is in control. He gets up on the top, when a distraction by Escobar allows Wilde to throw him into the ring. He lands on the injured arm, which allows the heels to take control. A triple team slingshot splash flattens him, and Mendoza is in to work the arm.
Mendoza kicks Fandango into the corner and continues to work away at Fandango’s arm. Fandango uses his good arm to chop at Mendoza, but Mendoza kicks at Fandango’s arm, sending Fandango back to the mat.
Mendoza picks up Fandango and continues to target his injured arm. Mendoza tags in Wilde and Wilde and Mendoza attack Tyler Breeze and Isaiah Scott, sending both men off the apron. Fandango takes down Mendoza and Wilde. Scott makes it back to the corner with just enough time for Fandango to make the tag.
Wilde tags in Santos Escobar. Scott lays into Escobar with strikes. Scott takes out Wilde and Mendoza, then hits his Rolling Flatliner on Escobar. Scott is distracted by Mendoza and Wilde, Scott goes for a dive from the top rope, but Escobar hits Scott with a boot to the face.
Mendoza goes for a dropkick from the top to hit Scott, but Scott maneuvers Escobar into the kick. Escobar drops Scott, sending him into the corner against Breeze. Scott hits a Tiger Driver on Escobar, then pins him, but the referee says that Scott is not legal as Tyler Breeze became the legal man when Scott bumped into him.
Wilde and Mendoza hit Scott with double drop kicks to the side of the head. Tyler Breeze comes into the ring and Escobar hits Breeze with a Phantom Driver, pinning him for three.
Winners: Legado del Fantasma
Pat McAfee Arrives
Pat McAfee is shown arriving to the Performance Center with three former Colts teammates in tow. McAfee and Cole will come face to face next, right after this commercial.
Quick Announcement
Back from commercial and we are told that on the TakeOver: XXX pre show, there will be a triple threat tag team match between Breezango, Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan, and Legado del Fantasma to determine the #1 contender for the NXT Tag Team Championships.
Adam Cole and Pat McAfee’s Face-Off In-Ring
Undisputed Era make their way to the ring. McAfee and his teammates come out through a door in the audience.
McAfee is the first on the mic. “Well well well… guess who’s back!” McAfee states. “Well hello… Undisputed Era. Last week Adam, you said ‘please, please come back’ to the arena I was kicked out of.” I know you would be nothing without these three stooges. I know you wouldn’t do anything by yourself. With that, Adam has the three remaining members of Undisputed Era exit the ring. McAfee fist bumps the three friends he brought with him, dismissing them as well. “Do you remember what happened last time I was here, Adam Cole? Shawn Michaels was checking for vitals on your lifeless body next to stupid Tom Phillips.” McAfee goes on, “I outsmarted you in your own house. You said I wasn’t special. You have wrestled all over the place, you were the biggest star in. this. brand. What did you call yourself? The “king” of NXT? 400 and some days you were undefeated, it took a minute and a half to knock your ass out. Then you call me not special. I haven’t been in this ring before, you looked amateur. Moustache Stooge. “You better hope I don’t stick with this profession, or this will be the 8th profession I make millions in.” McAfee goes on to state, “You only gave me 2 weeks to train, then you will have to explain how you lost to an outsider. You’re great, in this world. But I am above you as a human. It’s going to end with one swing of this foot.” McAfee throws the microphone at Cole. Cole starts toward McAfee and is immediately stopped by a group of NXT officials. McAfee’s three buddies are up on the apron, so Cole stops, but Undisputed Era members quickly join inring “This Saturday at TakeOver, I’m gonna make you my bitch” Cole says nose to nose with McAfee. With that, Undisputed Era steps out of the ring.
The four members of Undisputed throw up their hand sign at the bottom of the apron across from McAfee and his three homeboys who stand shoulder to shoulder inside the center of the ring.

Aliyah and Mercedes Martinez vs. Rhea Ripley and Shotzi Blackheart are in action.. after the break.
Aliyah and Mercedes Martinez vs. Rhea Ripley and Shotzi Blackheart
Representing the Robert Stone Brand, Aliyah is out first shaking her hips as her music sounds. The music cuts quickly as the lights go out and a blue light surrounds Aliyah’s tag-team partner, Mercedes Martinez. The two make their way down the ramp accompanied by Robert Stone and all three enter the ring.
In her infamous mini tank that ran over Robert Stone’s foot just weeks ago, Shotzi Blackheart makes her way down the ramp, crashing into the side of the ring. Blackheart enters the ring with her helmet on and climbs to the top turnbuckle, kissing her helmet multiple times before jumping off the turnbuckle and dropping to her knees on the canvas shouting to Aaliyah and Mercedes.
Out next is Shotzi’s tag-team partner, Rhea Ripley who makes her way out in her leather ring attire, still sporting her platinum blonde locks. The referee calls for the bell and Rhea Ripley immediately heads at Martinez, dropping her to the mat. Rhea shoves Mercedes into her own corner and Mercedes gets the tag to Aaliyah. Blackheart makes the tag and enters the ring as well. Blackheart slams Mercedes to the canvas! “Welcome to the ball pit!” Shotzi announces with a Jackknife cover. Aaliyah grabs Shotzi’s hair and Mercedes makes the tag as we got to commercial!
As we return from commercial break, lots of quick tags. Blackheart able to roll her left shoulder as Martinez goes in for the cover once again. Snap Butterfly Suplex by Martinez on Blackheart for the cover, Blackheart kicks out at two. Martinez shoves her boot into the face of Shotzi. Blackheart with a Sky High DDT on Martinez.
.Both teams make the tag! Ripley comes in strong, Basement Dropkick on Aaliyah. Face Buster by Ripley, Martinez enters for the save. Shotzi comes in and hits a high kick on Martinez. Rip-tide by Ripley. Blackheart is knocked off the top turnbuckle by Martinez. Ripley grabs Martinez and throws her over the top rope. Mercedes misses the kick, Ripley hits a Powerbomb on Martinez over the barricade. Top rope Senton by Blackheart onto Aaliyah for the three count pin and win!
Winners: Shotzi Blackheart and Rhea Ripley
After the Match
Ripley and Blackheart are all smiles as they celebrate their victory!

Karrion Kross Video Package
A video package airs with flashing pictures of Karrion Kross vs. Tommasso Ciampa, Scarlett Bourdeux with the hour glass, Dominik Dijakovic and Karrion Kross and finally the battle between Kross and Keith Lee including the fireball that exploded in Lee’s face. Kross pointing to his wrist as he mouths, “tick tock”. TakeOver XXX Karrion Kross vs. Keith Lee.
The rest of the footage is just a mashup of Kross and Lee footage, ending with an end car for TakeOver: XXX.
Qualifying Match for the NXT North American Championship Ladder Match
Finn Balor vs. Velveteen DreamBoth superstars make their way to the ring for this qualifying match for the NXT North American Championship Ladder Match. Dream plays mind games with Finn Balor at the start of the match, not letting Balor get close. Balor eventually gets a headlock in on Dream and takes him to the mat. Dream escapes the hold and goes for a sunset rollup, but Balor rolls through and points his finger guns at Dream. Dream backs up out of the ring and we go to commercial.
As we return from commercial break, Balor continues to focus on the injured left leg of Dream. The crowd is hyped. Dream counters, trying to stretch the leg of Balor. Dream gets the cover on Balor, Balor kicks out at two.
Balor turns things around with a series of Chops followed by several stomps to the ribs of Dream. Dream with a Back Elbow, leaps off the top with a Double Axe Handle to the head of Balor.
Cameron Grimes Enters Out of nowhere Cameron Grimes heads down the ramp causing a distraction during the match-up. Dream and Balor are both stalled as we head to commercial break.We return from commercial break and Cameron Grimes is seated at the top of the ladder as he watches the match between Velveteen Dream and Finn Balor continues. Dream lifts Balor high for a Back Breaker. Dream poses as he looks into the camera. Balor with a reversal into a Sunset Flip and a Basement Dropkick by Balor to Dream.
Dream heads up top, Balor drops Dream hard onto the top turnbuckle. Balor with a Knife Edge Chop in the corner. Dream is sent flying over the top rope, sent in between the two ladders at ringside. Balor with several stomps to Dream. Balor begins to climb the ladder after Cameron Grimes, Grimes attempts to head down the ladder. Dream grabs Balor and drops him on the apron.
Back in the ring, Dream looks for the Dream Valley Driver. Balor counters and hits a Double Footed Dropkick on Dream. Balor is arguing with Grimes, Dream leaps up and hits a Superplex on Balor to the canvas. Both men are writhing in pain inside the ring. Gargano knocks over the ladder, sending Grimes crashing into the ring, knocking out the referee. Grimes is stuck in the middle. Balor with a Stomp and Velveteen Dream with Dream Valley Driver.
Gargano eyeing the title, waving and smiling as he puts the belt over his shoulder. Bronson Reed scares Gargano into the ring. Gargano goes to step backwards and is stopped as he runs into Damian Priest. Gargano puts his hand up and feels the face of Priest. Priest throws the title to Bronson Reed, as Reed catches it, Priest hits a Dropkick to Reed, knocking him out of the ring. Dream hits the Dream Valley Driver onto Finn Balor, then the Rain Maker for the three count pin and win!!
Winner and Qualifier for Final Spot in NA TItle Ladder Match At TakeOver XXX: Velveteen Dream
After the Match
Gargano ruins the celebration of Velveteen Dream with a boot to the face of Dream. Gargano kisses the belt and holds it up as Cameron Grimes knocks Gargano out. Priest re-enters and goes after Grimes as Bronson Reed drops Velveteen Dream and lifts the belt above his head to end the show with the other superstars laid out inside and outside of the ring!
