Kevin Owens Set For WWE NXT On Nov. 25th

WWE NXT On USA Network (Nov. 25): Kevin Owens Announced For Special Guest Commentary

An announcement was made during this week’s edition of WWE NXT on USA Network that In Wade Barrett’s absence next week from NXT commentary, a WWE Superstar will fill his seat for the November 25, 2020 show!

During the November 18, 2020 edition of WWE NXT on the USA Network, Wade Barrett announced that he would not be able to fulfill his duties as commentator for next week’s edition of NXT. Fear not, as Barrett followed up by announcing that WWE Superstar Kevin Owens will be filling in as guest commentator for the 11-25-20 show.

Hopefully Kevin Owens has gotten a lot of practice in on “The KO Show” which airs during WWE Friday Night SmackDown, (prior to the WWE Draft 2020, “The KO Show” aired on WWE Monday Night RAW) as a show within the show. His appearance next Wednesday on NXT will mark Owens’ second time returning to NXT since he was moved up to the main roster back in May 2015. The last time that the former WWE Universal Champion appeared on NXT was when he took part in the 2019 TakeOver: WarGames and sided with Tommaso Ciampa’s team which eventually helped them win over The Undisputed Era.

Kevin Owens – Former NXT Champion

Though Kevin Owens is currently on WWE’s Blue brand roster, he was a core member of WWE NXT back in 2014-2015. After signing with WWE in 2014, Owens debuted for NXT at TakeOver: R Evolution and later in the night delivered a powerbomb in congratulations as he turned on his longtime friend Sami Zayn (the former El Generico) who won the NXT Championship that night.

After yet another post-match attack by Owens on Zayn, an irate Zayn demanded a match against Owens, but Owens refused to wrestle unless it was for the championship. Zayn agreed and a title match was set for NXT TakeOver: Rival on February 11, 2015. At the event, two months to the day after his debut, Owens captured the championship from Zayn via referee stoppage after repeatedly powerbombing a disorientated Zayn. Owens went on to successfully retain the NXT title in a bout against Finn Bálor and Sami Zayn (though he would ultimately lose the title to Balor at “The Beast in the East” after 143 day reign as NXT Champion).
