Johnny Gargano is standing the ring to kick off this week’s WWE NXT On USA Network. Gargano stands next to his “Wheel of Challengers” all professionally made, but the name “Leon Ruff” is written on a white sheet of paper and sits on the wheel as well.
Gargano notes his history with the NXT Championships and his bad luck streak with defending them. The crowd continues to “boo” and trash talk Gargano. At one point the crowd chants, “Johnny sucks! Johnny sucks!” to which Gargano responds, “Don’t talk about my wheel that way, respect the wheel!” Gargano continues on to state he made history at Halloween Havoc pay-per-view. He notes he lost at his first attempt at the NXT Championship, bad luck. But at his second he won! Then immediately lost it. He finishes by stating his luck has changed since Halloween Havoc!
“With one spin… somebody will get the opportunity of a lifetime!” “Spin the wheel, spin the wheel!” chant breaks out with Johnny starting the wheel spinning…
Johnny Gargano notes that the wheel to determine his next challenger. The wheel was rigged, and it landed on Leon Ruff’s name. The wheel spins to the left, then to the right… then again to the left slowing on Ciampa, then on Priest, but lands on Leon Ruff. Gargano seems very confident in his chances.
Leon Ruff Enters
Leon Ruff comes to the stage with a huge smile on his face as his music sounds! Ruff makes his way down the ramp and enters the ring. Gargano poses with a huge smile behind Ruff as Ruff flexes in the center of the ring with a huge smile on his face.

With both men in the ring, the referee signals for the bell, and this match is officially underway! Johnny still looks completely confident as he points to Ruff. Then he heads in with blows, knocking Ruff into the corner. Ruff is fired up, and Gargano holds the ropes for him and poses for the camera as Leon raises his arms. Johnny convinces Leon to check his kickpads before locking up, and when he does he kicks him in the face.
The champ stomps Ruff down in the corner, then it’s a press slam and a pose. Ruff evades a charge after being whipped into the corner and gets 30 seconds of fury, but is then grabbed by the head when he tried to springboard and thrown from the apron to the steps. As the match heads to ringside and Gargano notices Damian Priest behind the cage at ringside, Johnny mocks the “bow and arrow release” of Priest, then turns to the camera where he mocks Priest and starts calling him “stupid” and making faces. Unbeknownst to Gargano, Priest walks around the cage and is standing right behind him. Johnny turns around and the smile immediately leaves his face as he looks like he’s seen a ghost!
Gargano freaks out and slides right into a roll-up that almost gets three! Big clothesline from the champ, who then hurls Ruff face first into the turnbuckles. After taunting Priest by saying how easy it is, Johnny sets up for a kick, but Ruff ducks under and hits the crucifix bomb. New champ!
