Welcome one and all to eWrestling.com for the December 30, 2020 edition of WWE NXT Results which will be here LIVE starting at 8:00p.m. as the show airs live from the WWE Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida on the USA Network at 8/7C!

Tonight’s edition of WWE NXT includes Johnny Gargano who will defend his NXT North American Championship against Leon Ruff, “The Colossal” Bronson Reed will face Isaiah “Swerve” Scott to kick off the show, and Roderick Strong battles Pete Dunne. THEN, nine NXT Year-End Award winners will be revealed tonight on the final NXT of 2020! Recently added, we will also have Breezango vs. Grizzled Young Veterans later tonight!

Show Opening

WWE Forever plays us into tonights December 30, 2020 episode of WWE NXT on the USA Network. We immediately head to the ring for the first match-up of the evening.

Isaiah “Swerve” Scott vs. Bronson Reed

As we head into the WWE Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, FL, the entrance theme for Isaiah “Swerve” Scott plays as Swerve makes his way down the ramp towards the ring to open the show. Out next is Bronson Reed as his theme music plays over the speakers in the arena. The 330lb Colossal Bronson Reed makes his way down the ramp and stomps hard as he makes his way up the stairs and into the ring. Another big stomp as he stands in the center of the ring.

Commentary notes that The North American Championship Ladder Match that took place at TakeOver 30 which included Reed, is up for “Match of the Year”. We will find out the winners later tonight. With both competitors inside the ring, the referee signals for the bell and the first match of the evening is officially underway! Both men head in to kick off the match, Reed rolls over Scott and Clotheslines him over the top rope causing Swerve to spill out to ringside. Reed then runs and hits a Shoulder Shove as he flies through the air landing on Swerve at ringside.

The match ends up back inside the ring, Swerve pops out of the corner to drop Reed, then follows up with another Pump Kick to Reed who rolled out of the ring. Reed rolls back into the ring where Swerve goes for an immediate cover, Reed kicks out at one. Swerve lands a few more strikes and kicks on Reed then heads up top to land on Reed for another cover. Reed kicks out at two! Swerve powers Reed into the corner of the ring.

Swerve with an Uppercut, then a Dropkick to the left knee of Reed, finishing up with a Flatliner for the cover. Reed just able to kick out to continue the match!

Winner: Bronson Reed

William Regal Announces Nominees For “Break-Out Star Of The Year”

NXT General Manager William Regal stands at a podium as he announces the names of the nominees for the “Break-Out Star of the Year”: Pat McAfee, Damian Priest, Shotzi Blackheart, Cameron Grimes, Dexter Lumis, Timothy Thatcher, Raquel Gonzalez, or Santos Escobar. The winner is:

Break-Out Star Of The Year: SHOTZI BLACKHEART

A quick video clip highlighting Blackheart who is on her tank in the desert states, “I make no apologizes for who I am, what you see is what you get. And trust me, what you get, you can’t handle!”

We then head to Blackheart live who says, “From the Royal Rumble, to hosting Halloween Havoc, to leading an army into WarGames, this has been an absolute wild dream of a year.” She then says she knows her Dad is proud of everything she’s done, and she’s letting the good times roll into the new year… TCB *howwwwl* as we head to the first commercial break of the evening!

Quick Clip – “Earlier Today

As we return from commercial break, we see a quick clip of both Leon Ruff and Jake Atlas arriving earlier today.

Backstage – Johnny Gargano & The Way

Next, we head backstage live where we see Johnny Gargano coming in with The Way, but they see a black cat the end of a hallway! Austin Theory thinks it’s cute, but Johnny freaks out as it’s superstitiously bad luck!

Breezango vs. The Grizzled Young Veterans

As we return to inside the arena, we head to the ring and out comes Tyler Breeze and Fandango of Breezango. The opponents, The Grizzled Young Veterans, are already waiting in the ring as teammates James Drake and Zack Gibson are ready for tonight’s match. The referee signals for the bell, the bell rings and this match is officially underway!

Drake starts off with Fandango. They lock up and Drake takes him down. They tangle on the mat and come back up as Breeze works on the arm. Fandango ends up coming in and going at it with Drake. Fandango takes him back down and continues working on the arm. Drake counters and tags in Gibson. Gibson catches Fandango with a big takedown but Fandango controls him on the mat. It’s announced that the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will return in two weeks.

Breezango comes back in as we get a bit of chaos. Drake tags back in and controls Fandango. Drake takes Fandango down and plants a knee in the back, grounding him again. Breeze avoids a double team and tags in Fandango. Fandango comes in and unloads on both opponents. Fandango takes out Drake and then goes at it with Gibson. Fandango dropkicks Drake as he’s trying to save Gibson. Fandango works over Gibson and tags in Fandango for a double team kick to the head. The Vets end up on the floor and Breezango stops them from coming back in.

Fandango climbs up on top of a lighting rig at ringside. Breeze stops Drake and Gibson from coming back in. Gibson and Drake look up as Fandango flies from the top of the lighting rig, taking them both down. The referee checks on Fandango as he sells a leg injury. Fans chant “NXT!” as we go back to commercial.

As we return from the commercial break, The GYV are in control inside the ring. Fandango gets double teamed as Gibson slams Fandango’s hurt leg into the barrier a few times, then brings it back in. Gibson takes it to the corner and goes right for the leg again. Fandango fights back from the corner but Gibson leg whips him from the top turnbuckle to the mat for a 2 count, and another quick pin attempt, and a third time. Gibson shows some frustration now. Breeze finally gets the hot tag and unloads on Gibson, then Drake as he comes in.

Breeze goes from corner to corner on his opponents. Drake tags in but gets clotheslined to the floor. Gibson is also sent out by Breeze. Breeze launches himself over the top but he lands on his feet and misses his opponents. They double team him but Fandango takes out Gibson. Fandango goes back in and drops Drake with a kick as he comes. Gibson pulls Fandango from the apron, then launches him knee-first into the steel ring steps. Drake with a close 2 count on Breeze.

Gibson tags in but Breeze fights them both off. Gibson catches a kick. Fandango is countered again and The Vets come back with the double team finisher for the pin to win.

Winners: The Grizzled Young Veterans

After the match

Drake and Gibson stand tall as their music hits. Ever-Rise ends up coming to the stage and taunting Drake and Gibson. The referee gets in front of Ever-Rise but she’s heard enough. She angrily storms to the back as the two teams stare each other down, still talking trash.

Tag-Team Of The Year Award Nominees

Once again, we head over to NXT General Manager William Regal for the Tag Team of the Year Award in the NXT 2020 Year-End Awards. And the winners are….


Undisputed Era’s Acceptance Speech

We come back and Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish accept the award. Strong and O’Reilly are holding the two plaques. Cole reveals that he and Strong will be representing The Undisputed Era in the Dusty Classic this year.

We head to commercial break once again.

Vignette – Boa & Xia Li

As we return from the commercial break, we head into the next segment for the mysterious saga of Boa and Xia Li. They are both on their knees now, in white robes. The ShiFu master looks on and the hooded woman is watching. The master paints markings on both Xia Li and Boa’s faces.

The mystery figure apparently blows smoke on them from what looks a small skull. The mystery leader gets up and opens a curtain, revealing a bright light. Boa and Li follow her into the bright light. A Chinese symbol flashes on the screen and then a “Next Week” teaser. Barrett says Boa and Li have survived, and now they are coming back.

Mercedes Martinez vs. Valentina Feroz

As we return to the arena, we head back to the ring and out comes Mercedes Martinez for her NXT in-ring return as her entrance theme sounds in the Capitol Wrestling Center arena. Martinez hits the ring with a mask over her face as the crowd boos. Valentina Feroz waits in the ring. (Feroz is Rita Reis making her debut.) With both competitors in the ring, the referee signals for the bell.

The bell rings and this match-up is officially underway! To kick things off, we see Martinez dominate the ring early on. Feroz keeps heading in at Martinez, but Martinez is ready in wait as she nails a big forearm and then drives Feroz into the mat with a chokeslam. Martinez uses the middle rope as the referee warns her. Feroz tries to make a comeback again but Martinez keeps yelling at her and overpowering.

Martinez with a big Spine-buster. Martinez kicks Feroz around and taunts her as the boos get louder. Martinez dominates some more and scoops Feroz on her shoulders for a big Air Raid Crash in the middle of the ring for the pin to win.

Winner: Mercedes Martinez

After the match

Martinez celebrates her victory as she stands tall over Feroz as her music hits. We then head into the replays from the match. As we return to the ring, Martinez yells at the camera and puts the whole locker room on notice.

Female Competitor Of The Year Nominees

As we head back to the awards ceremony, we head into the NXT 2020 Year-End Award for the Female Competitor of the Year. NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai gets the award. We get a video package on Shirai and then a brief pre-recorded message from the champ.


Male Competitor Of The Year Nominees

Next, NXT General Manager William Regal announces the nominees for Male Competitor of the Year now. Adam Cole


Video Package

We head into a video package on the leader of The Undisputed Era, Adam Cole.

Backstage – William Regal and Adam Cole

As the video package ends, we head backstage where the General Manager William Regal is standing with Undisputed Era’s Adam Cole now. He said last year he’d win the award again, and he did, and also said he’d become the longest reigning NXT Champion and he did. He credits The Undisputed Era with everything and goes on to predict Kyle O’Reilly will bring the NXT Title home by defeating champion Finn Balor next week.

Backstage – Roderick Strong

We then head backstage where we see Roderick Strong walking the halls. Pete Dunne is also shown backstage as we head to commercial break!

Pete Dunne vs. Roderick Strong

Pete Dunne is already on his way to the ring as we return from the commercial break. Next out is Roderick Strong as his entrance theme sounds in the arena. With both men in the ring, the referee signals for the bell. The bell rings and our next match-up is officially underway! Strong takes Dunne down and punches away at him in the head and kneeing him in the midsection.

Next, Strong chops away at Dunne, then takes him down with a headlock. Strong runs the ropes and takes Dunne down with a sliding clothesline. Strong lays into Dunne, but Dunne picks Strong’s leg, then gets on him and locks him in a headlock. Dunne runs the ropes and Strong takes him down with a dropkick. Strong chops away at Dunne, but Dunne takes him down into a headscissors submission attempt.

Dunne transitions to a focus on Strong’s left arm. Strong picks up Dunne and drops him against the ropes and Dunne releases the hold. Dunne dumps Strong to the outside and Dunne kicks Strong in the head. Dunne tosses Strong back in the ring. Strong fights Dunne off and hits a backbreaker on Dunne.

Dunne rolls to the outside and Strong his a wrecking ball dropkick on Dunne, sending Dunne over the barricade and we go to commercial.

As we return from commercial break, we watch as Dunne whips Strong hard into the turnbuckle. Dunne goes for an abdominal stretch. Strong gets to his feet in the corner, but Dunne pushes him into a seated position. Strong gets back up and kicks at Dunne, then runs at Dunne and hits him with a dropkick. Both men get back to heir feet and Strong takes Dunne down with clothesline and a running knee.

Strong hits Dunne with a his running forearm smashes into an Olympic Slam, covering Dunne for two. Dunne rolls out of the ring and Strong follows. Dunne tosses Strong into the steel steps, then goes for a Bitter End. Strong reverses and hits a full nelson slam onto Dunne on the apron. Dunne pins Strong for two.

Strong hits an enziguri and goes for a powerbomb, then picks him up and hits a powerbomb into his own knee. Strong pins Dunne for two. Strong picks up Dunne, but Dunne rolls Strong down and goes for a triangle choke. Strong punches away at Dunne until Dunne releases the hold.

Strong goes for the Stronghold, but Dunne fights him off. Dunne grabs Strong’s fingers and snaps them, then hits the Bitter End on Strong, pinning him for the win.

Winner: Pete Dunne

Match of the Year Winner Announced

We once again turn things over to General Manager William Regal as he announces the Match of the Year. The winner is…

Winner: Finn Balor vs. Kyle O’Reilly > NXT Title Match – TakeOver 31

Finn Balor Accepts The Award

We cut to Finn Balor who grabs Kyle O’Reilly’s award and says that he’ll give it to him next week.

On his way, Pete Dunne stops him and says that he wants to face Finn for the title. Finn says “A lot of people want to face him.: Finn then adds, “Get in line.” Finn gets in the ring and we go to commercial.

Video Package – Fight Pit II

As we return from the commercial break we head into a video package for the Fight Pit II bout between Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher at New Year’s Evil next week.

In-Ring – Finn Balor

We head to the ring where The Prince is holding the NXT Title and the award trophy. He mentions the win over O’Reilly at “Takeover: 31” and goes on. Balor says Kyle didn’t surprise anyone that night, but he did prove that he belonged in the ring with Balor. Balor says O’Reilly deserves this award as far as he’s concerned. Balor goes to speak but the music interrupts and out comes the challenger.

Balor says he doesn’t need the plaque, it doesn’t mean much and is only good for collecting dust as he has the title and another trophy in his mouth from the jaw injuries. O’Reilly has the plaque now. He says it does mean something to him but he doesn’t have to have it.

O’Reilly puts the plaque down and goes on about how he’s been participating for years and he’s done just participating. He’s ready for the real award and while he respects the hell out of Balor, he’s leaving that respect at home next week. O’Reilly goes on about how he will do whatever it takes to win the title next week. The title will prove that the past 15 years have been worth it, and that he’s worth it.

Balor says all that is real nice but he’s going to do everything in his power to make O’Reilly suffer. Balor says the last time they wrestled O’Reilly broke his jaw, so next time they wrestle Balor will make him pay, drag him all over the canvas and make him wish he’d [bleeped out] the first time.

Karrion Kross Interrupts

As Balor and O’Reilly face off… out comes Karrion Kross with Scarlett to the stage to interrupt with Scarlett speaking Romanian on the mic.

Scarlett says what’s in the ring already belongs to them, and regardless of who wins next week, the fate of Balor and O’Reilly is already sealed. Kross says Doomsday is here… Tik, Tok. Kross stares them down but Damian Priest is suddenly behind him. Kross turns around and they face off on the stage.

Center Stage – Kross and Priest

We turn our attention to the top of the stage as Kross and Priest have words and Priest says this is how you step like a man. Priest rocks Kross and they start brawling on the stage as fans cheer them on. Priest goes for the Razor’s Edge but it’s blocked. They keep fighting, now going to the ringside area. Kross rams Priest back into the lighting rig. Kross charges but Priest catches him and they tumble over the barrier, crashing through the Plexiglas.

Fans chant “NXT!” and go wild as the brawl continues through the production area, into the backstage area. They brawl to the top of production cases. Priest looks to put Kross down but Kross blocks a shot and sends him crashing through a table and some equipment.

The camera looks over and we see Scarlett sitting on top of production cases, laughing and looking on. Fans chant “NXT!” again. Referees run over to help Kross and Priest but they’re down with the debris. Scarlett is really enjoying the chaos and debris as we go back to commercial.

Video Package – Last Woman Standing Match

We return from commercial break and we immediately head into a video package for next week’s “Last Woman Standing” match with Raquel Gonzalez vs. Rhea Ripley at the New Year’s Evil event.

Ripley discusses how close she and Raquel Gonzalez once were, to the point of getting matching tattoos. She ends by stating she will stand tall at the end of next week’s match at New Year’s Evil.

In-Ring – Legado Del Fantasma

As the video package ends, we head back to the ring where Legado del Fantasma is standing in the center of the ring, all with microphones including the NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar, Raul Mendoza, and Joaquin Wilde.

To start things off, Santos Escobar takes the mic and tells the other members of Legado Del Fantasma to just sit back and take a look at where they are right now and to enjoy the moment. Escobar continues by stating what a year they had… what a year he had.

He continues by stating the WWE Universe can vote for The Undisputed Era as Tag Team of the Year all they want… but it’s a sham. Escobar isn’t here to be popular, he’s here to dominate, and that is exactly what he’s done. The boos continue to grow louder from the crowd.

Escobar says NXT General Manager William Regal is out trying to find his next challenger but no one can touch him. Escobar says Regal can look all over the Earth but he won’t find anyone who belongs in the ring with Escobar, with Legado del Fantasma – the leaders of lucha libre. Escobar says in 2021, this dominance will continue because he knows exactly what they’re going to do. Their first order of business…

Lucha House Party Interrupts!

He is interrupted as the entrance theme for Lucha House Party sounds and out comes Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado with mics as the crowd pops!

Dorado says it’s kind of nice coming to a place where they’re not chasing champions, (a reference to WWE 24/7 Champion R-Truth on RAW.) They ask Escobar if he really thinks he owns lucha libre. Mendoza ends up yelling at them in Spanish. Metalik and Dorado rush the ring for a fight. They send Mendoza and Wilde to the floor. Escobar is waiting behind them to attack but referees hit the ring and confirm that Regal has made a tag team match.

Mendoza and Wilde attack Lucha House Party from behind but Metalik and Dorado take them out, sending them back to the floor. Dorado and Metalik run the ropes with suicide dives as Escobar looks on. Lucha House Party returns to the ring and taunts Legado del Fantasma as we go to commercial.

Legado del Fantasma vs. Lucha House Party

As we return from the commercial break, the match is ready to take place as the referee signals for the bell. The bell rings and this Lucha Libre match is officially underway! To start things off, Lucha House Party members Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik double team Raul Mendoza to get the upper-hand early on, they also team up on Joaquin Wilde. Dorado takes control of Mendoza now. Wilde lands a cheap shot on a double team while the referee isn’t looking.

Wilde and Mendoza take turns on Dorado in the corner now. NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar brags and shows off at ringside. Wilde drives Dorado into the mat for a close 2 count as fans try to rally. Dorado fights both opponents off from their corner, then hits a big crossbody to Wilde. Metalik tags in as does Mendoza. Metalik lands a superkick and then a spinning bulldog.

Metalik with a missile dropkick after walking the top rope. Mendoza kicks out at 2. Metalik blocks a few shots and superkicks Mendoza again. Dorado comes back in and we get another quick tag after more offense. Metalik ends up hitting a huge splash from the top but Wilde breaks the pin up.

We see Wilde tossed from the apron to ringside by Metalik hitting a Running Hurricanrana. Dorado drops Mendoza with an inverted hurricanrana. Metalik tags back in, walks the top rope and drops the big elbow on Mendoza for the pin to win in the middle of the ring.

Winners: Lucha House Party

After the Match

Metalik and Dorado celebrate as the music hits. Escobar is shown at ringside and he’s not happy. We go to replays. Metalik motions for the title around his waist as Escobar stares back at him from the ramp.

Next we head back to the NXT 2020 Year-End Awards as it’s time for the Future Star of the Year nominees. We get a run down of the potential winners and…


Video Package – Austin Theory

We immediately head into a video package on Theory as fans boo.


The Way is backstage now as Theory takes the plaque from Regal. Candice LeRae and Johnny Gargano tell Theory to share the award with Indi Hartwell and he hands it to her.

Theory explains how he’s finally found the way, and now Gargano is going out there to break the curse surrounding his NXT North American Title.

Gargano freaks out at the thought of Theory using the “C word” and it just gets worse when a mirror gets broken after Gargano freaks out because he said “curse”. He throws Theory’s XMas protein powder, which accidentally breaks a mirror. Gargano rushes out of the room by himself and we once again head to commercial.

Overall Competitor Award

As we head to the main event, General Manager William Regal lets us know the winner of the Overall Competitor Award. And the winner is…


Video Clip – Io Shirai Accepts Award

We get a video clip with Io Shirai that was pre-recorded where she accepts the Overall Competitor Award. Shirai thanks everyone to end the clip.

Main Event
Johnny Gargano vs. Leon Ruff

We head to the ring for the main event of the evening as we head into the last match for the last NXT of 2020! NXT North American Champion Johnny Gargano and Leon Ruff are already in the ring for formal ring introductions by Taylor. They face off and have words. The referee signals for the bell.

The bell rings and the main event match-up is officially underway! Gargano takes control to start things off as he takes Ruff down with a Headlock. (We see Austin Theory, Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell watching from ringside.) Ruff turns it around using Gargano’s arm and drops him for a 2 count.

More back and forth now. Ruff rolls Gargano for a third pin attempt. Gargano goes to the floor to regroup with The Way.The North American champ with the takedown. Back up with a wristlock, but Ruff shows off his agility then flips out of the hold. Roll-up for two, then Gargano goes out to regroup with his squad, all three members of whom are ringside. Theory with a distraction, but Leon misses with the slingshot spear.

Ruff gets the advantage with a flurry, then a dropkick in the ropes leads to more offense in the ropes. Johnny turns the tide when he shoves Ruff to the floor after taking a boot in the corner, then sets to inflicting punishment on the outside. Gargano breaks the count to keep the match going, which lets Leon recover. Rope assisted neckbreaker from Johnny, then a dive as we go PiP one more time.

As we return from the commercial break, Gargano is in control, but Leon fires back with elbows. Gargano cuts Ruff’s come up short as he hits a backbreaker. Gargano stretches Ruff in a bow and arrow, then snaps him against his knees. Johnny sets up for a neckbreaker, but the challenger slips under. Gargano fights off the backslide but takes a kick to the jaw.

Ruff flies with elbows. Both guys miss in the corner, and Leon with the backbreaker/neckbreaker combo in the corner. German sends Johnny flying into the corner. Corkscrew cannonball gets two! Ruff ducks a superkick like he did when he won the belt, but Johnny is wise. A delayed superkick gets two. Ruff tries for a crucifix bomb, but Johnny counters with a powerbomb. Leon kicks out, so Gargano goes right to his submission finisher. Ruff makes the ropes, and Johnny holds on for five. He’s frustrated, and shoves Ruff to the floor. He tries to lawn dart him into the steel scaffolding, but Leon slips out.

Back and forth ends with a neckbreaker on the floor. Back in, Frog Splash gets one, two, NO! Ruff sets the champ up on the top turnbuckle. Mounted punches, sets up for a rana, but Johnny lifts him up and drops him face first on the ring post! One Final Beat for the cover and the three count pin and win!

THE CURSE IS BROKEN! The Way celebrates the victory!

Closing Moments

As we pan above the ring, we see the New Year’s Evil host Dexter Lumis standing above the ring. His caricatures run down next week’s card, which now includes Gran Metalik vs. Santos Escobar for the Cruiserweight title.
