WWE NXT: Halloween Havoc 2020 Results (10/28/2020)
Show Opening
After 20 years, NXT’s Halloween Havoc is BACK! We head into the arena where Shotzi Blackheart is seated in a chair in front of the “Spin the Wheel: Make A Deal” board as she begins to howl with a grinder sparking in her hands as she kneels. We see “LIVE FOREVER” in fire as a live guitarist plays the Archer of Infamy in for our opening match!
Devil’s Playground Match
Damian Priest vs. Johnny GarganoOut first is Damian Priest who sends his imaginary arror flying from his hand bow inside the ring as he rocks out to the guitarist playing him in! Smoke fills the arena as we hear the “Boos” as Gargano makes his way out. The challenger looks back at the huge inflatable pumpkin on the top of the stage… and proceeds to pop it! Shotzi announces, “Gentlemen… it’s a time! Spin the wheel, make a deal!” The crowd chants, “Spin the wheel, spin the wheel!”
Shotzi spins the Wheel… it’s a Devil’s Playground match! No DQ, pinfalls count anywhere.
Gargano is immediately thrown off by his nemesis “the Wheel”, it’s all Priest at the jump. A Stinger Splash and a spinning heel kick give the champ the first near-fall. A pair of forearms send Johnny to the floor. He tries for the upper hand when making Damian chase, but Priest catches the slingshot spear attempt. Gargano fights his way free, takes out the champ’s knee and sends him into the ring steps. The challenger goes under the ring and grabs a kendo stick. But by the time he gets to Priest, the Archer has his night stick. They swing on each other as we go picture-in-picture.
On the small screen, Priest continues to have the advantage. He kicks Johnny’s butt on the busted pumpkin and tries to pin him there, but when Damian tries to carry him back to the ring (for some reason), Gargano slips free and pushes him off the ramp to take control. Priest stumbles back to the ring where he gets his nightstick back and blasts Johnny with it on the apron. The champ hits South of Heaven, but Gargano kicks out at two! They battle the the outside, where the Johnny counters an attempt to send him into the fence/plexiglass, then hits Sliced Bread on the steps! He covers there, but Priest kicks out! He comes back and slams Gargano on the announce desk with Broken Arrow!
They brawl through the graveyard, and when a skeleton pops out of the coffin, Johnny superkicks it. Priest makes him pay for that and drives him back through the apron with strikes. There, Gargano trips the champ into the loading bay door and slams a wheeled crate full of trash into him as we go to break again. Some of the commercials happen PiP, and sees the pair brawl into the crowd and into a crypt set-up on the other side of the ramp. Then the ad goes full screen for a bit.
A mysterious “Scream” figure comes out and hits Priest from behind. Gargano makes a deal with the devil and is handed a tombstone as he slams it across the face of Priest, knocking him off the stage! The crowd begins chanting “holy s***! holy s***!” Gargano crawls to
First ever 2 time champion, the NEW North American Champion… Johnny Gargano!
Winner: Johnny Gargano
After the Match
Johnny is all smiles and grabs the belt from the referee, staring at it as he is assisted to his feet. The crowd boos and Priest is still knocked out! We head into replays! We return to Johnny Gargano standing tall in front of the Wheel with the North American Championship belt raised high above his head!
Announcer’s Table
We head to the announcer’s table where Wade Barrett asks Vic Joseph what the hell he’s wearing… Vic is decked out as “Where’s Waldo” with the red and white stripes and the hat! Costume contest, Wade says he’s dressed as Bad News Bear as he holds up a gavel, and Vic looks like a moron on global television, so Wade won the contest. Wade notes there’s more bad news for Undisputed Era!
Backstage –
We see Pat McAfee backstage walking down the hallway with the new tag-team champions Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan. A video picture in picture is shown from last week when Fandango taken out by a mystery man to ultimately win the titles for Lorcan and Burch. We head to commercial break!
Promo
We get a Finn Balor promo as we return from commercial break.
Backstage – Cameron Grimes
Cameron Grimes and Mr. Regal are standing in some spider webs. “We have a lovely van coming for you at any moment.” Cameron looks distraught, “The ring isn’t in the parking lot, the ring is in the CWC, and I was thinking you wanted me to have a wrestling match with Dexter Lumis, is that right Mr. Regal?” Mr. Regal smiles and tells Grimes to come with him, and they walk off.
In-Ring – Pat McAfee
“Well, well, well… Happy Halloween Havoc!” McAfee says as he stands inside the ring. McAfee notes that he had the greatest debut in the history of this business at TakeOver 30 as the crowd boo’s. McAfee says “You suck…” in response to the crowd’s chant. McAfee continues on to state Cole didn’t come over and say congratulations… “that scumbag stood in the ring and flexed on top of me!” McAfee says all he could think of after the match was what a bum he was, and he couldn’t handle him himself. He highlights his “How Ya Doin’ Keep It Movin” show, Youtube page, etc.
McAfee says he called Ridge Holland who is a stronger, younger, version of himself. Holland then delivered Cole’s lifeless body over the barricade for a Mercedes. He then saw him have his leg broken in 700 places. So McAfee said he called their guy to become his guy… or something, this dude rambles on and on.
Kyle O’Reilly Enters
Suddenly we get Undisputed Era’s Kyle O’Reilly who makes his way to the ring! O’Reilly stops on the apron right before entering the ring.
Pete Dunne Enters
Pete Dunne enters the arena and joins O’Reilly on the apron and they both enter the ring with steel chairs as McAfee flees along with the tag-team champions. As O’Reilly walks forward at McAfee who is on the apron, Dunne then turns and hits O’Reilly in the back! It was a set up! They then attack O’Reilly. McAfee kneels at O’Reilly’s side as he states, “I’m smarter than you and your friends, we’re the new kings of this brand, and that Cauliflower O’Reilly… is UNDISPUTED!”
Backstage – Cameron Grimes
We head backstage, and Mr. Regal sends Grimes outside. A van rolls up with a zombie in the passenger seat, and Michael PS Hayes dressed in orange & black in the back. The Freebird cuts the Bad Street USA promo on Grimes, then struts off after nudging Cameron into the van. Grimey says he hates rednecks as we head to commercial.
Jake Atlas vs. Santos Escobar
Escobar comes out in his Fantasma mask, and Mysterio-inspired tights. Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza are with him, all three have Dia de los Muertos facepaint on. A quick kick at the bell puts the Cruiserweight champ in the driver’s seat. Running double knees in the corner, and Escobar is talking trash while kicking ass. That fires Jake up though, who catches a chop and fires back with punches. Back elbow and a pair of throws follow, setting up a big German and a forearm that gets two.
Atlas climbs and hits the cartwheel DDR, but Wilde grabs Escobar’s foot and puts it on the bottom rope. Jake with a tope that takes out Legado del Fantasma. He fights them, but Mendoza puts on the loaded lucha mask for a head butt. The send Atlas back in for a Phantom Driver.
Winner: Santos Escobar
Video – Ember Moon
Video on Ember Moon talking about Dakota Kai’s attack last week. She puts over Kai’s development and says she has a sick kick, but she’s not going to like the receipt.
Shotzi Blackheart Takes Mic
Blackheart’s back, and tells us the scares have just started. The Haunted House of Terror is next (howling ensues). After a break, an Elvira-looking Shotzi kicks us to the night’s cinematic match.
Cameron Grimes vs. Dexter Lumis (Part 1)
It’s the return of cinematic wrestling, as Grimes wanders across a lawn screaming warnings to Lumis (who we see sitting in a tree behind him at one point). Cameron enters the house, which looks like the place Randy Orton & Bray Wyatt fought the House of Horrors match in. He gets spooked by an deer head and we see Dexter enter behind him. A zombie ref in a corner scares Grimey and Lumis attacks. Grimes escapes into a bathroom where he sees a woman showering. He’s never seen The Shining apparently and tries for some sexy time, pulling the curtain back to reveal a demon lady. He backs into a window that Lumis grabs him through. Grimes back into what I think was a zombi-fied Kayden Carter, then gets a two-by-four and looks to turn the tide… but wansders into a room with multiple demon women. He fights them off and runs to the van to escape, but Lumis is in the driver’s seats. Grimey runs off into the night and this match is to be continued. We head to commerical break.
Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Gonzalez
The ref has a hard-time keeping these two black-clad brawlers apart. Neither woman gets the upperhand during the early going despite getting offense in. They trade slaps in the middle of the ring, then get to clubbering. Ripley tries to run the ropes after a leg kick bit gets pulled down by the head for some stomps. Gonzalez tries to Rhea up for a suplex but struggles, then Ripley lands on her feet. Clotheslines from the Aussie can’t put Raquel down, but a drop kick does. She sends Dakota Kai’s heater to the floor, but her next move gets caught and slammed into the plexiglass/fence. Gonzalez carries her back to the ring as they go PiP. She lays in some strikes during rest holds on the small screen, squelching a Ripley rally with a scoop slam as the commercials take up the whole picture.
A clothesline to the back of the head stops another comeback attempt when we return, and gets a nearfall. Gonzalez is getting frustrated with the kickouts, but takes too long and gets back dropped on a powerbomb set-up. Knees in the clinch from Rhea, then a neckbreaker and dropkick gets the former champ a nearfall! Both wrestlers struggle to their feet, but Ripley puts Raquel down first. She gets the inverted cloverleaf but can’t hold it. A boot and a spinning slam gets Gonzalez a cover, but barely for two.
Gonzalez sets Rhea up for the superplex, but Ripley fights it off. Rhea tries for Riptide from there but can’t hold it. They brawl there, and Raquel eventually flips the Nightmare to the mat from the top, but still only gets two. Scooped up for a powerbomb, Ripley counters into a head scissor that sends Raquel into the turnbuckles. Riptide follows and that’s it.
Winner: Rhea Ripley
Outside – Cameron Grimes
We cut to footage of Cameron Grimes running down the street, shouting “Help me!” Vic Joseph asks, “Is Cameron Grimes coming back to the Capital Wrestling Center?” Before that question can be fully answered, we go to commercial.
Backstage – Drake Maverick… Er… Hulk Maverick??
Back from commercial, Drake Maverick is dressed as Hulk Hogan and is being interviewed about his tag team aspirations. Killian Dain comes out dressed as the Shockmaster. Maverick is upset that Dain didn’t trip during his entrance, so he puts on the Shockmaster mask and trips on his own.
Dexter Lumis vs. Cameron Grimes (Pt 2)
Cameron Grimes is outside of the Capital Wrestling Center, and he enters back through the door that he exited through. Grimes is then seen stumbling around through the scenery on the side of the stage. Two of the women from the Haunted House have followed Grimes back to the arena and chase him into the ring.
Dexter Lumis enters and appears behind Grimes. Lumis tosses Griems across the ring, then hits a bulldog on Grimes. Grimes gets a boot up in Lumis’ face, but Lumis hits Grimes with a spinebuster. Lumis stalks Grimes in the ring as the zombie women surround Grimes.
Grimes hits a zombie with the Cave In. A zombie women climbs onto Lumis’ shoulders and he tosses her into Lumis, hitting a corssbody. Lumis hits Grimes with a ura nage and locks in The Silence. Grimes passes out Lumis’ music plays.
The zombie women enter the ring and surround Grimes as Lumis exits. Lumis walks away as the zombies writhe around and surround Grimes. The lights go out and the camera closes in on Lumis’ face. The words “The End” appear on the screen.
Winner: Dexter Lumis
After the Match
Dexter Lumis exits the ring as a smokey cloud forms inside the ring and zombies are walking upside down bridge a’la The Exorcist style, crawling around Grimes’s body.
Video Package – Io Shirai
We get a video package for the upcoming match between Io Shirai and Candice LeRae.
Spin the Wheel, Make a Deal…
Shotzi Blackheart is now dressed as the devil, saying that she will be spinning the wheel for the main event, after a commercial break.
Promo – Tommaso Ciampa
Back from commercial and Tommaso Ciampa is cutting a promo backstage saying that he doesn’t recognize NXT anymore. He says that the attitude and the culture has changed and everyone acts like they are owed something.
He says that everyone blames someone else. He says that he has heard all of the excuses before and he was never handed anything, he worked for it all. He says that he was NXT for a long time, but fate took it away. He says that he wants to take it back.
He says that Velveteen Dream is in his way, and, “You hit me with a cast once, shame on you. You hit me with a cast twice, you’re a dead man.”
