WWE continues to work on expanding into the Japanese, Australian and Canadian markets. The latter of which could result in WWE creating a new NXT Canada brand.
Yeah, you heard that right.
First off, regarding WWE’s expansion into the Japanese market, WWE Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events & Creative, Paul “Triple H” Levesque recently met with officials from the Dragon Gate pro wrestling promotion when WWE was in the area at the end of June.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE officials have also met with officials from the Stardom pro wrestling promotion, further confirming their interest in further-establishing themselves and expanding into the Japanese market.
Another target area for WWE appears to be Australia, as they have been recruiting all the top talent from that region in recent months.
Meltzer also noted in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there has been some talk of WWE establishing a new NXT brand in Canada — especially after the company has set up tryouts in Mississauga, Ontario before their WWE SummerSlam 2019 pay-per-view next month in Toronto.
They would be the first ever official WWE tryouts in Canada, as usually Canadian prospects are simply brought down to Orlando due to the geographical proximity.
