WWE President Nick Khan Led Meeting Today on Releases; Willing to Take Heat for Cuts

Fightfulselect.com reports that WWE President Nick Khan led a meeting on Friday afternoon, spearheading the decision to let several WWE wrestlers go, which as of now stands at a dozen. There were names that were rumored to be cut that haven’t been made official but also names that were not mentioned that ended up getting released which is consistent with how WWE has made cuts this year. Khan not only led this meeting but was apparently willing to take all the heat for the releases and didn’t seem concerned about prior creative plans, ongoing projects, who the talent was married, the length of their contracts when making his decision on the releases.

Tony Nese, for example, was signed to a higher-than-normal contract that WWE was using for talent on 205 Live and he also has a 90-day non-compete clause. Meanwhile, August Grey, who is also on 205 Live had a lower contract and only a 30-day non-compete which goes to show that the releases were all over the board.
