— WWE Monday Night Raw on Netflix was a huge success and while viewership metrics have not been released and probably won’t be revealed until next week, the show is currently the #1 streaming show on Netflix.
— Forbes was the first to report that WWE Raw has dethroned Squid Game season 2 at the top, at least in the United States. What makes it even more impressive is that Season two of Squid Game, which started streaming exclusively on Netflix on right after Christmas, had been breaking all sorts of records for the platform in the process so for Raw to topple it out of the top spot would mean that the WWE show likely pulled in some incredible numbers. Former WWE CEO Stephanie McMahon called out the Forbes article in a tweet:
‘Squid Game’ Dethroned In Netflix’s Top 10 List By A New Show
“If you thought Squid Game season 2, was going to stay on top of Netflix’s top 10 list you’d be wrong. In America it has been unseated at #1 by @WWE Monday Night RAW” MQ @TripleH https://t.co/CQyPTsJI6U— Stephanie McMahon (@StephMcMahon) January 8, 2025
— What isn’t quite known is what metrics Netflix is using the rank its shows, though traditionally, the platform’s top ten lists would rank shows based on “views” (presumably by account) though it’s possible, there could also be a separate ranking for shows by minutes streamed. Either way, with WWE Raw now streaming on Netflix, the traditional measure of viewers watching live is significantly less important as Netflix seems to report across a seven-day period. What that means is that a viewer streaming Raw on a Wednesday, Thursday or even Saturday is virtually as important as one watching it live on Monday.
