WWE Reportedly Cancels “Day 1” Premium Live Event; PLE Schedule to Undergo Big Changes

— WWE’s latest premium live event, Day 1, has reportedly been canceled after only one year. The event, which debuted last year on January 1 in Atlanta, GA, was already rumored to be undergoing significant changes but Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics reports that the show is completely canceled with no brands of a restructure or rebrand. With the cancelation, WWE currently has no PLE scheduled between November’s Survivor Series and January’s Royal Rumble.

— Bryan Alvarez of f4wonline.com reports that the changes won’t stop there and WWE’s PLE schedule is going to undergo “big changes” in 2023 with more of a focus on international events and less on “gimmick shows” that have become commonplace with WWE events. Dave Meltzer shed more light on why Day 1 was specifically canned, noting that there were conflicts with major football games in Atlanta on 12/31 and 1/1 and there was a chance that WWE was looking to simply move the show to another date and/or venue though the idea for this event was to hold it annually in Atlanta. Tickets for Day 1 had not yet gone on sale and WWE has thus far not commented on this story.
